After it's premiere in 2003, the film remained lost for 18 years before it's early 2021 release to DVD/Blu-Ray with a new edit.
Brinke Stevens, who appears in a lead role in this film, had her comic book "Brinke of Eternity" on display in the bedroom scenes of the original 1996 film, even though she and director Collum were only pen-pals at that time.
The final chase scenes and massacre were filmed at the same batch of trees as the 1996 original.
Although intended as the finale to his trilogy, Collum has said he would be open to the idea of allowing another young filmmaker to take over the franchise with a 5 Dark Souls, Part IV.
This was the last of director Jason Paul Collum's shot-on-video horror features. Within months of this film's completion he began directing for Tempe Entertainment.
