Genuinely Brilliant

I had the opportunity to get access to an early screening of this film and its one that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was so full of heart and fun to watch. The story was crafted in such a way that juggled many relevant issues in Zimbabwean culture but still managed to remain tonally focused and well paced.

Highly recommend to anyone who'll get the chance to see this.

Shaina is a truly heartfelt film that left a lasting impact on me. Its wholesome narrative delicately navigates through critical themes like teenage pregnancy, rape, sex, HIV, and sexual health, offering a thought-provoking exploration of the challenges faced by young teenage girls. I found myself moved to tears by the touching storyline, brilliantly written and skillfully executed. The visuals were impressive, immersing in the African marginalized lifestyle theme, and the performances, particularly by Wilmah and Tadiwa, were exceptional. I highly recommend Shaina for its powerful storytelling and commendable portrayal of important issues. A solid 9/10 rating from me!
