I like the 3 experts, although the show could do do without the unnecessary banter back stage from the non chasing chasers. My biggest issue is with Sarah Haines. He is not as personable as Brooke and really needs to read the questions much quicker. She is way to slow. Don't know if she will improve over time. I will stick with the GSN reruns or the British versions.

Two of the three chasers, Jennings and Rutter, are not only legends of trivia, but also very personable and likable. James Holzhauer, while an absolute titan of trivia, has the personality of a wet piece of toast. Twenty years from now if it comes out that James was, in fact, a mechanical robot wearing human skin, I think a lot of us will not be very surprised.
The thing that really makes this edition inferior to the original, is the host, Sara Haines. While attractive and personable (maybe she can give Holzhauer some lessons), she reads painfully slowly and makes the show very hard to watch. For a show that depends so much on the pace of questions/answers, they really missed the mark by not bringing Brooke Burns in to make the show flow.

I'm a longtime fan of the Chase on GSN, as well as becoming hooked on the original British version. The show has everything a great modern game show needs: solid challenge, perfect pacing, great intensity without being corny. Unfortunately, the primetime version feels very lacking in comparison for a variety of reasons.
Probably the best way to describe this show is "The Chase Lite". It is The Chase in rules, setup, etc. However, it lacks any of the "flavor" that makes the other two so special. The previous versions make great use of sight and sound to emphasize the David vs Goliath battle. The chaser sits high above the team in imposing colors like red, with the rest of the set darkened except for the team and host. A heavy "thud" plays as the chaser follows the team down the board, and subtle but dire music plays as both sides race the clock to try and beat the other. Unfortunately, the 2021 has none of this and looks and sounds like a much lighter affair. The set is generally too bright and a monotone mix of blue and orange, with light "whoosh" sounds with no power (though I do like the Final Chase music). I wouldn't find this an issue if the show were going for less intensity than the original, but I don't think you'd bring in true game show royalty without intending to be intense.
The other notable issue is the host, Sara Haines. It has absolutely nothing to do with her personally; she's extremely likeable and charming, has a great sense of humor, and is very clear and precise when reading questions. However, in being so precise, she doesn't have the speed that either Brooke Burns or Bradley Walsh do. This speed is critical to the show's pacing and unfortunately bring the cash builder and final chases to a crawl. I don't like knocking hosts for things like that, but for a gameshow that's so dependent on it's pace to hold it together, it matters. I imagine with a bit more experience, Sara will have no trouble bringing things up to speed.
Of course, there's the issue of the chasers too. I'm not sure if it's the show or their personalities, but none of the three feel like the massive heavyweights of knowledge like they are. Part of this may be the fact that I'm used the behemoth that is Mark Labbett, but I also think that the show's design doesn't allow this to come out either. You could replace Ken Jennings with anyone and it wouldn't make a big difference in the feel of the show, which is a problem.
There is a great show in here somewhere, it just needs to be retooled and polished to bring it out. I'm really hoping that these issues are just first run jitters and we'll get the chance to see a truly phenomenal show that rivals the best.

Why they would hire someone with such an annoying voice and slow pace as Sara Haines is beyond me. Brooke Burns was such an appropriate host who was intelligent enough to read the questions correctly and at a fast enough pace to help the contestants. Sara, I am sorry to say, is not fast enough, nor smart enough to understand this game show. Please bring back Brooke Burns. Give the contestants a fair chance. Sara just does not understand how this game show works, nor does she have the intelligence to read the questions fast enough for this show to be fair. Plus, in my personal opinion, her voice is so grating and annoying, it ruins my experience of enjoying the show anymore. Please bring back Brooke, or any other host for that matter, since anyone is better than Sara Haines annoying voice.

This is another US remake that was produced by people who either just read about or watched and didn't like the UK original. They've managed to remove everything that makes the UK version good and produce a tedious simulacrum.
In the UK there are four contestants, the questions in the cash builder are quicker and a little easier, but only worth £1000 each so there's a range of scores from £1000-£10000, which makes the high and low offers matter. Say you score £5000, the low offer will be £1000 and the high probably £30000. On this it's $25000 a question, and most players get 2 or 3 right, the low offer is half and the high offer rarely more than double. At those levels it's never worth the risk, there's no jeopardy - ironically.
By cutting the number of contestants they've lost all the pace of the original and filled the time with wooden dialogue from the host.
There's nothing good about it. Do yourself a favour and look for the UK one and watch that instead. It's fast paced, it's funny, it's slick, it's everything this show is not. This is just shiny and empty.

Our family watches game shows every night together while we eat dinner, and this is a favorite we look forward to!
I'm really sad to see all of the negative reviews about the host, Sara Haines. We think she is so beautiful of course, but mostly she is so full of grace, wit and charm! She seems to be very genuine and nice to the contestants, giving them their due for participating in the show.
People compare her to Brooke Burns, whom I've seen on other trivia game shows. I think comparatively, Sara does a better job at articulating with a slower pace so contestants can actually process and understand the questions.
I think the Chasers are fantastic! Although, aside from Brad, Ken, and Buzzy, the others are sort of "show-boaty" and we could do without the "I'm smarter than you idiot" hand gestures, mouthing the answers, and the knitting 🙄 Poor sportsmanship, my son called it.
Overall, a great family trivia show, and we look forward to many more seasons!

Great show with a HORRIBLE HOST! Her voice is killing my ears! She is annoying! She is political!!! THE VIEW is a terrible show to pull anyone from! All I see is politics when she opens her mouth she is spewing lies! Get a better host!

Only reasons don't give this game ten stars:
1) Sara is good, Brooke was incredible! Sara has sped up her question- reading quite a bit, but her voice is a bit scrathy and annoying.... Certainly not enough to keep me from watching, however...
2) During the speed rounds at the end, the "whoooooosh" sound effects often drown out Sara's reading of the next question.... Lower the volume of these noises, please!
Otherwise, this game is da bomb!!
The speed rounds almost always seem to end in "buzzer-beater" fashion...
i wish there was a bit less pop-culture subject matter.... I really don't care who left one rock group to join another, etc.... Another tiny quibble, though.... I hope this show has the lasting power of Jeopardy, but one can only dream...

Brooke Burns hosted the previous US version of The Chase. She exhibits an amazing combination of orthoepy, personality and beauty. She must not be available for this new version because she is FAR superior in every way to Sara Haines. Sara's voice is actually slow and somewhat irritating.
The previous version also featured "The Beast" who both physically was the size of a beast and also served as a better foil for the crowd to root against. In addition, we got to see Beauty and the Beast in every show. The current big 3 from Jeopardy fame are very likable and thus don't set up the same tension.
All in all I recommend the previous version and give this one 3 stars for the 3 champs.

Downhill Reboot with Major Snarkyness

This reboot without the Beast is just awful. It's bad enough that Brooke Burns is gone but the Chasers are so snarky and pompous. They make faces during the round and sigh out loud. The Beast was so much more professional. He was funny and informative. These wanna-be's are just horrible. I would say the High Roller is the most annoying but it's pretty evenly split. Between shaking his head, squinting or rolling his eyes, just rude. And the Chasers in the room; no purpose what so ever. I'm in the search for a new game show with less snark.
Nasal Sara has to go.

The show is okay, but listening to Sara Haines is like nails on a chalkboard. At times the nasality makes it difficult to understand what she says. Perhaps her nasal tone is due to enlarged adenoids, if so, perhaps surgery would help. Although a better idea would be to replace her.

I guess I'm lucky I never saw the original bc all the negative reviews seem to be from people comparing it to the UK version. From the episode I just watched, this show is pretty great imo. I'll knock off a star because they use too much of those reality tv suspense/hesitation moments. Showrunners, if you see this, please make it quicker and smoother like jeopardy. We don't need the fancy lights and music or the contrived trash talking, just let the players play! This has a lot of potential to be great!

I originally gave this game show a 10! Love Sara Haines, love to try and answer the varied questions, and always learn a few interesting facts! Lately, since the addition of several new
'chasers' , the atmosphere has turned so annoying to me thanks to the pompous attitudes of the new chasers. Smugly nodding from the chair or in the viewing room for a correct answer, or rolling their eyes and shaking their heads, immersed in their own delusions of superiority for a mistaken guess they are a major turnoff. Tonight Buzzy (I think is his name) is a total gentleman, without fault - the woman is the worst - I can't even watch her. I want to love this show again - it'used to be much more fun than even Jeopardy!!

Does not compare to the original with Mark Labatt (The Beast) and Brooke Burns. Ken is a crashing bore and also arrogant. And the host lacks the charisma of Brooke and also has a GRATING voice. Ugly stage. ZERO FUN.

Sara limits this show so much, though. She's terribly slow and lacks the personality to be a game show host.
The Jeopardy! crew lack personality compared to the original Chasers and focus only on snarky insults instead of playful banter.

I love trivia games but I realized sometimes that Sarah is more towards the chasers side. This show helps me learn I also feel nervous about the final chase for the contestants but I celebrate if the contestants get the money.

Sara Haines reads way to slow. The Chasers have no chance to beet the contestants! tonight she read so slow the Chaser had no chance of beating the team. Get Rid of Sara Haines and get Brook Burns if she is not available get someone that can read faster.
