David Robilliard was a poet and painter who lived from 1952 to 1988.
Eating Out You're like a potato. You'd go with anything.
"David Robilliard was the sweetest, kindest, most infuriating, artistic foul-mouthed, witty, charming, handsome, thoughtful, unhappy, loving and friendly person we ever met.
Over the nine years of our friendship David came closer to us than any other person. He will live forever in our hearts and minds." Gilbert and George wrote the above on July 7, 1990. "Starting with pockets filled with disorganised writings and sketches, he went on to produce highly original poetry, drawings and paintings. His truthfulness, sadness desperation and love of people gave his work a brilliance and beauty that stands out a mile."

Tonight’s Real Time with Bill Maher includes an eclectic line-up — including Salman Rushdie, Fran Lebowitz, and fashion expert and reality TV star Tim Gunn. Columnist Bret Stephens is the top-of-show interview guest. Stephens was criticized for naysaying publicly and writing a New York Times op/ed about climate change, a topic Maher is rabid on. He came under fire for telling people in Houston that “the paradox of our time is that the part of the world that has never been safer from the vagaries of nature seems never to have been more terrified of them”. For the past six days, Doc NYC has screened numerous documentaries that shine a light on untold stories, marginalized figures and crucial history. Tomorrow, the festival comes to an end, but before it closes, the festival will screen Takuji Masuda’s new film “Bunker77,” the true story of Bunker Spreckels, Clark Gable’s stepson and heir to a sugar fortune, who lived fast and died young. A classic American rebel in the vein of James Dean and Andy Warhol, Bunker turned his back on his fortune to live a simple life out of the public eye. He pushed surfing’s boundaries by riding very short boards in Hawaii and the Jeffrey Bay in South Africa. He also mentored skateboard legend Tony Alva and collaborated with filmmaker Kenneth Anger, leaving behind a complicated, nuanced legacy. Watch an exclusive clip from the film below.

Opening Batman: The Complete Series, I said, “This is my childhood in a box.” When the ABC series debuted in January 1966, I was seven, the exact perfect age to be utterly captivated by seeing a comic book faithfully adapted to the small screen. Without fail, I was glued to the television set on Wednesday and Thursday evenings right until the final episode aired in March 1968, leaving indelible images in my mind. These were reinforced just a few years later when local syndicated reruns burned the stories, sounds, and characters deeper into my psyche.
I was too young to understand the context of the show and its impact on popular culture, DC Comics, or the world of licensing. I didn’t get the wry jokes, it’s knowing pop camp approach to storytelling, or how it cleverly worked on multiple levels (a rare occurrence on prime time back then). Instead,...

(Spoiler alert: Please do not read on if you have not yet seen Tuesday night's elimination episode of “Dancing With the Stars.”) It's always hard to be the first one eliminated on reality shows like ABC's “Dancing With the Stars,” because everyone knows how hard these celebrities have worked in the weeks leading up to the premiere. “DWTS” combines judges scores and viewer votes to determine who to send packing, but viewers were mostly in agreement with the judges this week. Dancing with the Stars kicked off its 19th season Monday night, welcoming 13 new celebrities and a new judge in DWTS alum Julianne Hough, who is joining Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli.
Dancing With The Stars Recap
Soap opera star Antonio Sabato Jr. and his partner Cheryl Burke danced a Cha Cha. Though his footwork wasn't too impressive, his sex appeal – which Cheryl is happy to be working with, kept the routine from being a complete bust. The judges were in relative agreement that Antonio has the looks to be a dancing star, but he’ll have to improve his dance skills if he wants to stick around. Score: 25 (out of 40)
Dancing the Foxtrot were Lea Thompson and her pro partner Artem Chigvintsev. The Back to the Future star, who studied dance under Mikhail Baryshnikov more than 30 years ago, proved she still has the grace on stage to be a contender.

Fashion's finest descended on Lincoln Center in NYC on Monday evening for the Cfda Fashion Awards. Stars like Lupita Nyong'o, Blake Lively, Olivia Wilde, and Marion Cotillard walked the red carpet in gorgeous outfits by their respective designer dates for the annual event, which was hosted by film director and screenwriter John Waters. Lupita, who presented the womenswear designer of the year award during the ceremony, made her Cfda debut in a printed top and matching shorts, while Blake kept things short and sweet in a beaded Michael Kors minidress and '60s-inspired beauty look. It was Rihanna, though, who may have stolen the show; she hit the scene in a revealing sheer beaded gown for her big night. She was honored with the fashion icon award this evening and showed off her signature edgy style while posing for photos with a fur stole all night long (don't worry,...

Zendaya Coleman has been sporting different looks at every show during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week! Her hairstyles have ranged from sleek and bone straight to elegant buns and ponytails, but we didn’t see this one coming. Her long hair is no more!
Zendaya Coleman, 17, rocked a chic bob to Betsey Johnson‘s Fall 2014 fashion show on February 12 in New York City. Unlike Taylor Swift, who announced the cutting of her long hair, Zendaya simply took to the scene and let her new look speak for itself. What do you think of her new makeover?

The young star is on her way to becoming a fashion mogul and trendsetter, but is she following the trend with this new look? Taylor debuted her hair cut just a day prior to Zendaya’s short hair, but the classic bob has been popular with many stars lately.

Betsey Johnson won a special Cfda Award in 1989 - but she said her best memory of the Cfda Fashion Awards was winning a trophy that the council didn't even give out. "My favorite memory was when my daughter Lulu and my first husband, John Cale of The Velvet Underground, presented me with an invented Cfda award called The Tiniest Talent," she said Monday night, with Lulu standing right beside her. Johnson also talked about the ceremony where she met Yves Saint Laurent and why the Cfda Fashion Awards could use more comedy.

London — When did the modern era begin? With the Renaissance? With Elvis Presley?
For a generation of music-loving Britons, it started on July 6, 1972, when David Bowie performed the song "Starman" on the TV show "Top of the Pops."
Viewers had never seen anything like the androgynous orange-haired figure in a jumpsuit, singing about aliens while draping his arm teasingly around guitarist Mick Ronson and offering a lyrical benediction – "let all the children boogie."
Lonely teenagers in suburban bedrooms across the land were entranced, and, in many cases, inspired.
The ripples from that moment help explain why a major new multimedia exhibition about Bowie at London's Victoria and Albert Museum is the fastest seller in the institution's history, with 50,000 advance tickets sold – and why Bowie is topping music charts once again at the age of 66.

Johnson, who will turn 70 in August, will remain creative director of the brand, however, and will continue to design for her moderately priced Betsey Johnson sportswear and accessories labels, which are sold in Macy's.
The designer apparently plans to have a show during Fashion Week in September and will soon start shooting.

While fashionistas have to wait until spring for the next NY Fashion Week, The Reelist offers some great documentary suggestions that nicely compliment Tribeca Film's release of Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston. With winter fast approaching, what better way to brighten up your dreary day than with a fashion documentary that offers a refreshingly quirky look at the rise and fall of Halston, the tour de force designer? With Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston, filmmaker Whitney Sudler-Smith takes the audience on a ride (seriously, in his vintage Trans Am) back in time to NYC in the 1970s, recreating through film clips and interviews the world of style Halston inhabited. As the undisputed king of NYC nightlife and all that was hip, Halston counted celebrities like Liza Minnelli, Andy Warhol, Anjelica Huston, and Billy Joel among his friends and confidantes, and led a splashy public life increasingly marked by excess of...

Nicki Minaj has said that it is an "amazing" thing to be one of Betsey Johnson's fashion muses. The 'Super Bass' rapper met Johnson face to face during her runway show at New York Fashion Week on Monday and had only positive things to say about the designer, who she considers one of her favourites. She's amazingly talented and I've been wearing her clothes forever, so to meet her was like, 'Yay!' [I was] bowing down to her; she's dope!" Minaj told MTV News. "I just think it's amazing. Justin Bieber has been known to rock the fake glasses look, and now we see it on the Dvf runway! Let’s hope their is no real correlation between the two!
Diane Von Furstenberg has been a fashion powerhouse for over four decades, making serious fashion footsteps with her love of bold color and prints, so were hoping the designer hasn’t started following in the fashion footsteps of teen idol Justin Bieber! The models walked the runway at the Dvf show wearing pieces that fully embodied the labels signatures but with a 1960′s take on it. With their poofed up buns, button downs, and shift dresses the theme definitely took a page out of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The square wide spectacles were an important part of 60′s fashion so it does seem only natural for them to be incorporated into the decade themed spring collection.

Hello, fashion designers! Why are you still filling the runways at NYC Fashion Week with models so skinny they look like little fawns?
Women don’t want to be fawns, baby colts, pencils or skeletons! Women want to be fit, healthy and sexy! Women want to look great for themselves And, yes, also for men.
That is a Fact! Women enjoy feeling alluring for the men in their lives… or for the men that they want to have in their lives.
And yes, while every woman wants to lose 5 lbs and is constantly working out or watching what she eats, no normal woman wants to look like the rail-thin models marching down the runways at NY Fashion Week.
Those poor things have legs like sticks, bony knees, protruding clavicle bones, wraith-like arms and not a hint of hips, tummies or breasts. They are sexless!
They don’t even look like adolescent girls.

In addition to taking in spring 2012 shows like Carolina Herrera, Nicki sat front-row for her personal favorite designer, Betsey Johnson.

The designer’s daughter opened the show to a grand applause!
Betsey Johnson is known for putting on quite the show — and that’s exactly what she did on Sept. 12 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week! We thought the biggest surprise was going to be the presence of Nicki Minaj in the front row, but that wasn’t the case!

Betsey’s show was like a party, with everything from floral jumpsuits to studded hot-pants coming down the runway. While it stuck to her quirky aesthetic, we also saw popular spring 2012 trends, like revealing shoulders and sheer. The designer made her grand entrance at the finale,...

Ironically Tommy Hilfiger presented his wonderful and wearable Spring 2012 collection on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and he and I actually spent the terrifying day of 9/11 together and he was heroic. Here’s what happened.
Tommy Hilfiger was my personal hero on 9/11.
That’s because he took care of me, his daughter Ally, now the designer of the Nahm collection, and a number of his employees on that very terrifying day.
Tommy and I were at a scheduled breakfast together on the morning of 9/11. We’d been friends for many years and were chatting about all our latest work and family news when a man came running through our restaurant at about 8:45 am, shouting that planes had hit the World Trade Center and that it was a terrorist attack.
All of a sudden a hush went over the entire restaurant and we could see outside that people began pouring out...
