The second half of production was shot during the 2020 global pandemic. Every day felt like a heavy, calculated risk and there were many, many sleepless nights! Safety was a primary concern and everyone completed production safely. Team Slammer had an excellent Covid Co-ordinator called Katherine Rose Hall and the cast and crew followed COVID-19 Guidance for Location Filming, as carefully as they could under the circumstances.
On 10th September 2021, an exclusive early preview screening of Slammer was presented to cast, crew and friends. Over 750 people turned up to watch the first cut. Slammer is moving into the final stages of post production. Discussions with sales agents/distributors continue, and watch this space for a formal release date. Photos of the first Slammer London event will be uploaded in due course.
The fictional company Hansegret in Slammer is a nod to the "Hansel and Gretel" fairy-tale alluding to the brother/sister theme in the film.
Motherhood is a massive theme in Slammer: Ann will go on to meet her birth Mother for the first time; Sophie will become a Mother for the first time in John's flat; and Detective Russell will become the Adoptive Mother of the PM.
No title cards regarding the exact year the film is set are used in Slammer, as the film jumps back and forward in time. Key historical moments are used or re-purposed for the Slammer universe.
