Pleasantly surprised!!!

I ended up seeing this show by "accident" and boy am I glad I did - binged it in one night. Very good and heartfelt acting (I am not a cryer but I cried). Being Swedish I can sometimes feel that the dialogue becomes very theatrical but not here. Every emotion, good and bad, hit me right through the screen and I will be on the look out for a second season!

cant stop crying

I can relate a lot to this show, i think the acting by amy diasidmont is very true to real life, i found myself reliving moments and truly feeling what sigge is feeling. I am not a movie critic, but this is better than most teen dramas ive seen. No unrealistic moments or dialouge, unlike things popular right now. It is very impressive how realistic the screenplay is, this is what happens when you grow up in sweden. Family life, love life and school. Twists and turns in friendships. If you think this is bad then you should watch other swedish shows and films. One is really bad- "Heder" on viaplay, truly horrible storyline and acting. So try hard. I understand that this isbt the best show ever created, but it certainly smashes alot of its competitors. The acting is really good as well, the actors are very accomplished in the swedish tv world, for example alexander abdallah, who recently hit the billboards with "snabba cash" wich we all know and love.

Most genuine acting out there
It took a few episodes for me to like it as much as I did. But it really is a very good series. It covers an important topic- a narcissistic and manipulative parent. Very refreshing to see. There is so many series out there about love and sex but this topic is very much needed today. And the acting really felt genuine and real, not like other series where you can feel that the actor has´nt experienced the emotions in real life that they are trying to express in front of the camera. But Amy as "Sigge" is doing an amazing acting and portraying of these emotions. And it feels like she is herself, like she is in real life. I am longing for the next season.

Loved it. Genuine story with authentic characters
lizazter28 August 2021
I was immediatly drawn in by the story and stayed glued in front of the TV until the very last scene.

The story reflects in a truthful and captivating way what it's like to be almost an adult trying to have relationships in Stockholm.

The charachters Sigrid & Sam are consistently failing to act out their emotions towards each other. Realistically they mirror being stuck in the greyzone of the denying and somewhat cold approach you are expected to have towards love and relations at this age. Where nothing can ever be outspoken or real and everyone pretends is completely normal. Sigrid trying to follow these conflicting and unspoken relationships laws are making one destructive choice after another, and hurting others as well as herself along the way.

The characters are authentic and loveable. I feel for all of them and really want to know what they be up to next.

I'm hoping for another season and am looking forward to more creations and acting from Amy Deasismont in the future.

Amazing storytelling.

Emotional, raw and truthful. Skandinavian shows like this and Skam are my favourite.

Wow, had to leave a review about this!

I started this series just because I couldnt find anything else interesting and seemed okayish but didnt expect too much.

Wow, I was surprised for sure! Its a quite sad series, deep, emotional and deals with very difficult subjects. At times I felt I was in the middle of a therapy session asking for help or wanting to help somehow but couldnt.

I really liked the safe space reference and also the music through both Seasons 1 and 2 is amazing.

I am happy with the ending and finding out that Amy actually wrote it, again wow! Truly talented!

Definitely recommend it and hopefully now that its on Netflix more people will get to watch it!

... and she's not yet thirty-years-old
bjarias23 November 2021
... very talented, in 2005 at 13yo her pop-single 'What's in It for Me' was a hit in Sweden, Denmark, Norway & Finland & most-played song in Poland remaining in top-ten for 4 months ... releasing six studio albums she's youngest person in Sweden to have a 'greatest-hits' album

... in addition, acting mostly in TV since age of eleven ... now writing & staring in Thunder in My Heart ... an unusual comedy-drama with many odd moments ... there's little doubt she's the sole reason to stay watching to see what happens.

Incredible

Warning: Spoilers
This series really took my by suprise. Im usually really against swedish tv-shows because the actors are alomst always really bad and maybe it starten out a little rocky but honestly, ive never felt more watching a show. Amy (writer and maincharacter) have captured the essence of living with a disfunctional parent in a way ive never seen before. How its both really frustrating and makes you really mad, and at the same time you're afraid of crossing boundries och shaming to heavily. Amy (sigge) suffers from panicattacks in the show and I could feel how she felt. During all of them i cried, alot. Its honestly a masterpiece and the best swedish show ive seen. Thank you Amy for producing this amazing series and making people understand that they are not alone. You are truly fantastic!

The struggle with trauma, and trying to un-learn it when it sits firmly in you
SomethingIsUp21 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I think this is one of those few must watch tv series out there.

Something we rarely get to see as a theme in movies yet, let alone something we all kind of hide a bit about ourselves as there is a certain taboo about it still. So it is very good to see this topic be taken up.

It highligt the hardship of having trauma, and the struggles of trying to heal and allow yourself to have the good things in life, and being in a good relationship.

And the immense power of what real loving can have on you.

Someone who loves you very deeply, even so much that he has been waiting for her to com around to him for ears on end, as a very close friend of hers.

But your trauma stands in the way of beleiving they really could feel such a way about you, even when you know you love this person too.

So you sabbotage it for yourself- even though you want and need to hold onto this very deeply, caring, and healing love, as he truly protects her and is there for her in her hardships,

but she needs to take up her battles alone, on her way to healing, but as he is with her protecting over her although only in her daydreams- it helps her to o through her battles.

"You deserve to let go of all that is hurting you" And there is and will be people out there in the world who DOES love you. And you might even have it already, even with close friends- they can very much be your none-blood family.

Summary: Such a beautiful realistic take on trauma and healing.

Sooo dreadful
flagshipstrategies4 June 2021
Horrible screenwriting. Extremely bad actors and tons and tons of boring meaningless dialogue. A complete waste of time. This is so bad that I might never forget it.

Finally a realistic portrait of the effects of mental abuse
Sjliea28 March 2024
This series is not for the faint hearted, and it can be triggering for those who have experienced emotional abuse. While that's said I'll recommend it to anyone who wants to see something real. It's emotional and shows how complex growing up with narcissistic parents is. Thanks for giving this topic a space between all the unrealistic shows about young adult life and especially narcissistic and sociopathic people. The actors seem genuine and sometimes you will wonder if they have experienced similar things in their lives to be able to show these emotions. This series is not for those who like to sugarcoat things. Thanks Amy Deasismont, I'm looking forward to seeing your productions in the future.

Teen drama
ebbit939 June 2021
Starts out somewhat interesting but completely dies after a few episodes. It becomes very repetitive. It might have had some good scenes but still not worth watching all of it. Maybe it is only meant for teens?!

Much ado about nothing
MutterCourage3 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Sweet and nothing much to talk about this well intended drama has absolutely no plot or structure - its lack of story makes it irritating after only a few minutes- hard to grasp what the hype is about - did anybody ask the creators what a script is or what a forward moving plot is - please you can do better than just have characters wander around and seemingly improvise - is this what Swedish critics believe is superb storytelling then we're in a dire state of affairs - every scene is too long and lacks any real drama or conflict - a so-called nothing drama and more of situation video exercise - please teach the filmmakers the camera can be used more just register the events - sos!
