This episode's production number is #039SP. A different episode with the production number is #039SP was originally going to be the 3rd special aired during the 2019-2020 TV season along with episode #040SP. However, because of the pandemic those special were never taped and Season 1 ended with the Rupal special.
With Season 48 of the CBS Daytime show having essentially ended a month early, this program marks the first broadcast of a new episode of The Price is Right in nearly five months. Several changes to the production meant to facilitate social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, all of which will carry over to the CBS Daytime show as well, are introduced on this primetime special. The most notable change is the removal of the audience. The entire pit is covered by temporary flooring (a process that has already been used in Studio 33 for years for other shows that tape there),and the Contestants' Row displays are placed on color-coded podiums that stand several feet apart from one another in what would normally be the third or fourth row of seats. The potential contestants, of which there are only about 30 at a given taping, are now sequestered backstage; when they are called to come on down, they enter the studio through the doors at what would normally be the back of the audience.
