Hooray to the hipster village girls for saving the day!
pasaribuharisfadli28 January 2022
Ben & Jody actually started off pretty well. The story was interesting enough to follow. And when those girls (and one annoying little boy) came along, the tempo starts dragging and slows down the beat of its story. I don't blame the characters. It's just they were sorely underwritten.

The action at the finale was decent, but not very impressive. Angga Dwimas Sasongko still can't manage to execute action sequences with real sense of urgency and danger.

Interesting film depicting Indonesian rural land extortion but the directing wasn't well executed
sovannearythai20 June 2022
This movie needed way better character development of explaining the relationship of the main characters. Better also have made the story antagonist more believable.. they just seemed silly and half-witted-- not like guys who could organize arranged kidnappings.

I don't know, the storyline I thought, the film portrayed the villager life well and the conflicts/exploitation currently happening in the modern world to.

As the movie developed, once the main characters got to the village, the movie took a turn from interesting to lack luster: less thrilling and frankly, cheesy. Typical 2020 storyline of how the women (and a boy) save the day overtaking armed thugs with arrows and advanced martial arts? Just lol. And how all of a sudden the Main characters can fight? Why the hell did they not just fight to begin with? So many questions...

Anyhow the Yahyan Ruhian fight scenes never disappoints.

Succeeds in integrating exciting action aspects to 'Filosofi Kopi' movie series

Not without its fair share of missteps, but Angga Dwimas Sasongko's 'Ben & Jody' succeeds in integrating exciting action aspects to his 'Filosofi Kopi' movie series. The movie tries to hit social commentaries about agrarian conflict and violence toward peasants, as well as law enforcement misconduct and grassroots movements, but they aren't really concentrated enough to maximize the film's objective. Not bad.

Hahaha No. Just No.

While I appreicate the effort of turning this comfy heartwarming drama franchinse into action packed movie, but this is just painful too watch. Good thing they didn't decide to give our beloved coffee enthusiats martial prowess or super powers to deal with their mishaps in this movie. Instead, they give them Kate Bishop and Karate Kid, who seems to be more than capable in taking down a camp of armed thugs themsleves, and should be done on their own instead of waiting until third act to do their thing.

Living in the jungle...
greekdx25 August 2023
Just an intriguing story with two friends arrested in the jungle somewhere nearby Jakarta. Its okey?

Not exactly but true . Ben one of the two guys of the filosofi kopi defended farmer groups whose have been taken over by the Company. Suddenly when he returned home a group of gangsters grabbed him and ekopt him arrested in cage together with other people from nearby villages.

Not long after his partner looked for him but finally after looking for him was also arrested.

This is the fist part of a interesting action movie. Nice landscapes slow paced village living though the movie is quite fast paced Also good photography in 2k

Both women Aghniny Haque and Hana Malasan as Tamora and Rinjani respectively are quite nice good in both acting fighting and using arrows. I m sure they were under the supervision of Yayan Ruhim the bad leader of the baddies group who is the martial arts director Quite funny that both women choose very elegant clothes in the Centre of nowhere!

MY first Indo movie via the Netflix platform but not the first!

Routine
Leofwine_draca17 July 2022
Apparently this is the third in an Indonesian series of films about a couple of friends, but I saw it on Netflix under the title BEN & JODY. It seems to take place entirely at night and involves some villagers being exploited and oppressed by a faceless company. Some are taken prisoner, and they stage a breakout at the climax. Anyone expecting THE RAID or THE NIGHT COMES FOR US will be disappointed by this one, even though Yayan Ruhian has a henchman role and as usual gets to show off his skills at various points. But the heroes are underdeveloped, the plot almost non-existent, and the action relatively routine.

Their clothes are absurd
rikotaufikakbar17 August 2022
Villages in the jungle suddenly there are children of tribal chiefs who are designed like warriors, but the clothes used are very fashionable like clothes from uniqlo are very absurd, and the characterization is uneven, too strong in Ben and Jody, but in cinematography is the best.
