Family, friends and former co-stars of Adan Canto took to social media on Tuesday to remember the actor following news that The Cleaning Lady and Designated Survivor star died of cancer at age 42.
“Forever my treasure Adan, see you soon,” Stephanie Canto, Adan’s wife, wrote on Instagram. She paired the message with a passage from Matthew 6:19-21 and a photo of the couple together.
Canto died Tuesday of appendiceal cancer, his rep told The Hollywood Reporter. His diagnosis had not been made public.
“Adan had a depth of spirit that few truly knew. Those who glimpsed it were changed forever,” read a statement. “He will be greatly missed by so many.”
Along with his wife, he is survived by their two children, Roman Alder, 3, and Eve Josephine, 1.
Canto was known by many as Aaron Shore on Netflix’s Designated Survivor, the White House Chief of Staff-turned-Vice President to Kiefer Sutherland’s Tom Kirkman.

Actor David Oyelowo has been impressing people with his skilled performances on stage and screen for quite a number of years, but his portrayal of Martin Luther King, Jr. in Ava Duvernay’s Selma certainly turned a lot more heads and made him much better known.
That increased popularity for his acting has helped Oyelowo get films like A United Kingdom made.
Directed by Amma Asante (Belle), Oyelowo plays Seretse Khama, the future king of the African nation of Botswana, who while attending college in England during the ‘40s, falls in love with Ruth Williams (Rosamund Pike), a working class British woman, only for them to learn that their interracial love wouldn’t be accepted by either of their countries. On returning home to be inaugurated, the obstacles become clearer as Seretse’s regent uncle and various British politicos want to separate him from Ruth even after they’ve been married.

Autumn's bounty brings new TV shows, but it's also time to go back to school. And with homework assignments piling up, after school activities filling our schedules and the days getting shorter and shorter, it can be hard to find time to catch up on the new fall lineup. So, we thought, why not create one handy guide to the new shows, which are the second most important event of the season. (The return of pumpkin spice is obviously the first.)
Break out your varsity jackets and pack up your bags, it's time for the Fall TV Superlatives.

Forget back-to-school shopping and all things pumpkin spice, the real reason everyone's excited for fall is because it brings the return of all of our favorite TV shows – and the chance to develop new obsessions.
In the next few months it looks like TV schedules are going to be more packed than ever as tons of new comedies, dramas and even variety shows vie for DVR space. And even though we've only gotten the briefest of teases of what's heading to small screens, there are already a few shows whose premiere dates we've got marked down on our calendars. (Or,...

[As in years past, this week, I'm going to be glancing, night-by-night, at how the primetime schedules have changed after the network announcements at upfronts. I'll be looking at how the various changes will impact the ratings races on each night, as well as my own DVRing habits. Readers can chime in on how their own DVRs will be impacted. And yes, this brief series assumes that anybody still watches TV on their TVs. I'm old-fashioned. I'm also probably gonna ignore that I have a fancy new six-tuner DVR that means that I really don't have to make choices anymore. This will assume that I make choices for my own sanity.] Sunday Nights 7:00 p.m. ABC: "America's Funniest Home Videos" CBS: "60 Minutes" Fox: "The Ot," "Bob's Burgers" NBC: NFL Pre-Game 8:00 p.m. ABC: "Once Upon a Time" CBS: "Madam Secretary" Fox: "The Simpsons," "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" NBC: Sunday Night Football 9 p.m. ABC: "Blood and Oil" CBS: "The Good Wife" Fox: "Family Guy," "The Last Man on Earth" NBC: Sunday Night Football 10 p.m. ABC: "Of Kings and Prophets" CBS: "CSI: Cyber" NBC: Sunday Night Football What's Changed: There's a reasonable amount of sameness here. CBS is bringing "CSI: Cyber" into the 10 p.m. hour, but if you'll recall, that's actually what CBS initially announced for last season before some tweaking took place. Oh and if you live on the East Coast, you can count on everything starting at semi-random times depending on the week and the football matchup. Fox is sticking with its spring lineup with "The Last Man on Earth...

Blood and Oil, Discovery's latest "will this family strike it rich?" series follows the Cutter family of Ohio, who have run a small oil business for 30 years (given Discovery's love of gold -- Gold Rush, Bearing Sea Gold, Jungle Gold -- it's a wonder that the show wasn't titled "Black Gold"). After the death of the company's founder and family patriarch over a year ago, son Cj and the rest of the family have picked up the reins to keep the company going. Their main adversary, however, is "Big Oil," who have been buying up or leasing as much land

The BBC two-part drama, Blood and Oil, which couldn't be more topical, is now streaming on Netflix for USA audiences. Every now and then the BBC will turn out a decent contemporary drama that doesn't draw from a Jane Austen or Charles Dickens novel of which Blood and Oil was the latest. At best, I expected a typical made-for-white-audience production with familiar cliches and themes surrounding Nigeria such as corruption, massive poverty despite its oil resources, mismanagement and misappriation of wealth. However, while these themes certainly were clearly present, the story unfolds mainly from the point of view of well developed black characters. As if this...

Some UK TV news for next season... Of note in the below press release is the David Oyelowo MI5/Guantanamo Bay thriller titled Complicit, which centers on the moral dilemmas posed by the war on terror, as an MI5 agent (played by Oyelowo) becomes involved in the torture of a suspected terrorist to prevent an attack in the UK. We now have an official full synopsis for the drama which reads: In fighting the War on Terror is torture ever justified? David Oyelowo (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Red Tail, The Help) stars in a compelling new single drama from acclaimed writer Guy Hibbert (Blood and Oil, Five Minutes of Heaven, Omagh) that explores the murky moral compromises that...

I don’t watch much TV these days but am glad I caught the BBC two-part drama, Blood and Oil, which Tambay mentioned in a post Here last week. Every now and then the BBC will turn out a decent contemporary drama that doesn’t draw from a Jane Austen or Charles Dickens novel of which Blood and Oil was the latest. As if this wasn’t surprising enough, at the heart of the story are two women – one black, one white - with links to the oil rich Niger delta region of Nigeria.
