*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by director Jason Bognacki and Full Frame Features. Bognacki and this writer have worked together in the past. Director/writer: Jason Bognacki. Cast: David Landry, Maria Olsen, Lillian Pennypacker and Paulie Redding. Another is the first feature film from director Jason Bognacki ("The Red Door"). This film has played at several film festivals, recently and the reception has been mostly positive. The film can best be described as a Giallo-themed thriller, with a few gothic elements added in. Bognacki's first feature is light on story, with the director focusing more on the visual display. In the film, two immortals fight over the souls of the living; there is no clear winner. Shot on 4K digital with the Red One camera, the visuals of Another will stay with the viewer, long after the curtains have fallen. The story begins with a coven of witches.

When we last chatted with acclaimed photographer, filmmaker and musician Jason Bognacki (check out the interview here), he was in the process of expanding his haunting short film Another to feature length. The supernatural horror short was one of several stylish, sexy and often intensely disturbing films Bognacki is releasing through his production company Full Frame Features, along with his acclaimed mini-feature The Red Door. Another stars Paulie Rojas (The Last Resort) as a young woman who must fight for possession of her soul after learning of her demonic heritage. She co-stars with Maria Olsen (Paranormal Activity 3), Nancy Wolfe (Helter Skelter) and Michael St. Michaels (The Video Dead). A release date has not yet been announced, but the new trailer is amazing, so I'm hoping we won't have to wait much longer. ...

All Images by Jason Bognacki Experimenal photographer, musician, filmmaker... all of these handles apply to artist Jason Bognacki. But my first eye-opening, jaw-dropping exposure to his work was through a short horror film entitled The Red Door, which in a mere 16 minutes captured all the suspense, dread, sexual tension and raw violence of a dozen feature films. Inspired by Italy's lush and sensual giallo thrillers of the '60s and '70s, as well as the surreal cinemascapes of David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick and Andrei Tarkovsky, Jason's short films effortlessly balance fashion-magazine glamour and eroticism with shocking violence and supernatural terror... which is why I'm thrilled to learn that The Red Door...

The Red Door PosterDirector/writer: Jason Bognacki.
Jason Bognacki's short film "Loma Lynda: The Red Door" was sent to this reviewer simply as the "The Red Door." This short had an appearance in Cannes 2008, as part of the short film selection and "The Red Door" has gone onto win awards at Shockfest 2009 for Best Actor - David Fine, Best Film of the Festival, and others. Seriously surreal, this short starts off as serious hit of LSD to the system, warms to the audience with a psychotic monologue and finishes with a French dialogue about dissociation. Bognacki describes his film as a mix of Giallo and David Lynch; after seeing this film these words cannot be counter-argued, but the quality of the film can be enjoyed, as most of the senses are tickled.
From the cover sent with the film, this is "a modern Giallo genre film; a blood-drenched psychological...

The first trailer and poster for Francis Xavier's Poe has been released by Metropolis Pictures Entertainment. In the trailer for Poe a mutilated, nude, female corpse is investigated by detectives as a serial killer named "The Chef" turns aspiring actresses into chuck. A slight nod to famous American writer Edgar Allan Poe is provided by Xavier and fans with an interest in the film need to be eighteen or older to step inside, as Poe sets the standard for Red Band trailers.

For those who missed our poster on Bonacki's The Red Door, I'd Highly recommend checking it out. It's a short giallo done in stunning Lynchian style which shows that Jason is clearly one talent to watch. Now we've got the teaser for one of his latest shorts which also looks stunning and runs into the supernatural.
A thrilling tale of love and jealousy, takes a supernatural turn when a crime of passion and greed becomes an inescapable nightmare.
Teaser after the break.

I guess Giallo is coming back in style, because this 2008 short from Jason Bognacki, which is still running the fest circuit, looks bloody incredible! And I do mean bloody folks. Wikipedia defines giallo as a genre of "horror and erotocism", originally based on the genre from books, but having taken on its own life in film "characterized by extended murder sequences featuring excessive bloodletting, stylish camerawork and unusual musical arrangements." Yes, this fits that description perfectly, and also borrows from Lynch. It's stunning.
Loma Lynda's: The Red Door is a modern Giallo film styled around the manic characters Loma and Lynda. This dark and stylish tale of love and murder takes place in the street's of Hollywood and in the bent mind of our herion, Lynda (Estefania Iglesias).
Trailer and teasers after the break. I'd recommend going to the official website for the high quality versions.
