- Meg Reilly used to perform and write music, but in that vein is now content teaching, mentoring her students to do that performing. She also works at her father Benjamin Reilly's music store along Christmas Tree Lane in a historic shopping district in downtown Denver, all the stores in the neighborhood independently run. The street has seen better days economically with much of the commercial business having moved to the suburbs. So when all the tenants along Christmas Tree Lane receive eviction notices from Cloverfield Investments who plans to tear everything down and build modern office towers in their place, Meg decides to mobilize all the neighbors to come up with a plan to save Christmas Tree Lane from the wrecking ball. What they come up with is a series of events to show Denver and especially the decision makers at Cloverfield that the street is what Christmas is all about and is thus economically viable at the same time, those events culminating with a concert on Christmas Eve. Concurrently, Meg meets Nate Williams, an architect recently returned to Denver to work at the head office of his father's company, Mr. Williams Sr.'s plan for his son to some day take over by getting more into the management side of the business. While a connection is made between Meg and Nate, which includes Nate supporting Meg's dreams for Christmas Tree Lane, things between them could change when Regina, a lawyer and Nate's ex-girlfriend, reenters his life, and as Nate and then eventually Meg learn that Nate is in charge of the redevelopment, his father's company being Cloverfield Investments.—Huggo
