A mission is launched to rescue a prince.
This is a reasonably good start with some good spectacle and okay character moments.
The story mixes some of the original Willow themes/characters with some Disney Princess tropes and introduces a new adventure. Events unfold in an entertaining way but (much like the original movie), I found it difficult to thoroughly buy into it, as the characters are not compelling enough and the humour is very hit and miss, with Thraxus being the only character having any impactful delivery so far.
I felt more positive towards the end when we finally see the title character. He seems just as noble and likeable as in the movie, but hopefully a streaming show has the time to make him a more rounded character.
Visually it is excellent, with strong cinematography that tells the story well and uses the beautiful Welsh landscapes to spectacular effect. There are some good intense action sequences that generate scares when needed.
It's early days to judge the show, but my 7 year old daughter thoroughly enjoyed it, so I am willing to keep going.
For me it's a 6.5/10, but I round upwards.
