With their follower count dwindling, travel vloggers Teddy and Claire pivot to creating viral content around their most recent "superhost," Rebecca, who wants more from the duo than a great review.

The youtubers Claire and Teddy own the Superhost Vlog, where they review lodgings for their subscribers. Claire is worried since the number of subscribers is dropping in a high rate and she does not want to depend on her parents to pay their bills. When they rent an isolated house in the woods, owned by Lou and Betty that live with their cat, Teddy brings an engagement ring to propose Claire. On the arrival, the security code provided by Lou does not work and there is no signal in their cellphones. Out of the blue, the host Rebecca arrives and tells them that she needed to change the code because of the last host. She also explains that the house belonged to her father, who died, and now belongs to her. She is very happy to meet them and expecting to have positive reviews. Soon they note that Rebecca is a weird woman, and the house has surveillance cameras everywhere. When a window of the house is broken, Claire and Teddy find that the host from one of their previous reviews, Vera, is standing in front of the house. They go there to talk to Vera that accuses them of damaging her business. However, Rebecca arrives and sends Vera away. But soon they find strange things in the house and decide to return home. For their latest vacation video, travel vloggers Teddy and Claire rent a remote home in a Colorado forest. After running into unexpected issues with the security system, the couple ends up meeting their quirky host Rebecca, who supposedly owns the house. Later that night, Teddy thinks he sees someone watching the house from a distance.

Teddy and Claire wake the next morning to discover that their YouTube channel was suspended. Claire suspects Vera, a previous host who blames the couple's negative review for ruining her rental business, falsely reported them to take revenge.

During their second night, Teddy and Claire think they hear someone inside the house. Teddy finds a set of dentures clogging the toilet. Teddy wakes in the morning to find Rebecca making breakfast in the kitchen unannounced. Teddy and Claire also discover Rebecca is monitoring them over security cameras.

Vera comes to the house to angrily confront the couple over their negative review. Rebecca intervenes with a threat of violence that forces Vera to drive away.

Rebecca sits down with Teddy and Claire for an on-camera interview. Rebecca warms up by screaming. When asked about her favorite guests, Rebecca tearfully recalls an elderly couple who supposedly invited her to stay with them for the holidays.

Since their dwindling follower count already had her wondering if they should quit their failing vlogging venture, Claire suggests having their videos focus on Rebecca because she believes their host's strangeness will attract viewers. Rebecca continues to secretly stalk the couple.

While recording vista views on a ridge, Teddy surprises Claire with a marriage proposal. Claire excitedly says yes, but only because she believes they are staging a scene for a video. Teddy is disappointed to learn Claire was only acting for the camera. The troubled couple agrees to table a serious discussion about their future until after the trip.

When they return to the house, Claire sees her laptop on the floor playing Rebecca's interview video. Teddy finds mail addressed to Betty and Lou Jorgensen. Suspecting that Rebecca may not really own the home, Claire and Teddy decide to leave.

Rebecca stops the couple's car at the end of the driveway. Rebecca offers to show Teddy and Claire something that will make for a good video. Despite Teddy's concerns, Claire convinces him they should go with Rebecca because they need more footage of her odd behavior.

Rebecca leads Teddy and Claire to a tree where she has Vera held captive. Rebecca forces Claire to record her seemingly stabbing Vera. However, the stabbing turns out to be a staged prank that Rebecca agreed to participate in as part of Vera's revenge plot.

Rebecca and Vera start walking away when Teddy asks what happened to Betty and Lou Jorgensen. Vera expresses confusion because she doesn't know who Teddy is referring to. Realizing her murderous ruse has been detected, Rebecca suddenly stabs Vera to death.

Teddy and Claire flee back to the house and lock the doors while Rebecca stalks outside. Over a speaker, Rebecca admits that she murdered Betty and Lou because they wouldn't let her stay with them. Rebecca thought she was going to escape after killing the elderly couple, but then Teddy and Claire arrived. Meanwhile, Claire uses a computer in the basement room where Rebecca was squatting to upload a video plea for help.

After infiltrating the house, Rebecca takes Claire captive and slits her throat in front of Teddy. Rebecca also stabs Teddy in his side, but he locks the door on Rebecca and escapes outside.

Teddy trips over Lou's corpse while stumbling into the forest. Teddy makes it to his car, but collapses from his wound. Rebecca catches up and records a cheerful video while stabbing Teddy to death.

Wearing the engagement ring Claire didn't accept, Rebecca drives Teddy's body back to the house and cleans up. Rebecca sees that Claire's video successfully uploaded. However, viewers dismiss the video as nonsense and continue unsubscribing in droves. Rebecca smiles. (thanks to culturecrypt)
