Ironic
sybernaut22 August 2021
A movie about someone who cannot sleep.

I could not stay awake, and I have not napped in years.

Rated two stars only because I thought the lead actor, writer, director was handsome.

Some good i this
jani-varpujarvi12 January 2022
I liked the idea in this movie. I also liked dreamy feeling this gave. Some scenery (near end, when driving car) was very impressive.

But.. What a hec was that talking?! It was very hard to understand what was said: it was all so mumbling! Very, very VERY bad thing in movie!

(English is not my native language, and I wasnt able to use subtitles.) There is couple even worst movies I have seen, so 3 from me.

Boring movie
stunnerman22 June 2021
The movie is really boring and even the actors and actresses performers make you want to snore. The dialogue is extremely slow. It is like watching a movie is slow motion. The plot makes no sense. You wouldn't even know what is going on it this movie. The setting is bad. The actor who plays the photographer looks like he is lost and doesn't even know he is actually in a movie. This movie is guaranteed to put you to sleep. If you are someone who gets angry and start throwing things when a move is unbearable then do not watch this and save yourself.

Tedious

This movie is a definite cure for insomnia. Beyond a doubt the most boring movie I have ever wasted time to watch.

UM...Let's NOT Dream But Say We Did If It Means We'll Never Have To Watch This Again
Foutainoflife26 June 2021
Yeah. Let's just not watch whatever this was supposed to be but say we did. Unless you are seriously just wanting to throw away 90 minutes of your life.

Let's dream
aldiboronti16 July 2021
You'll certainly find it a more productive use of your time than watching this film and helpfully the movie does its best to put you to sleep in the first 5 minutes. The lead actor is possessed of the most boring and monotonous voice I have ever heard. Insomniacs would find him a real boon. Others though should avoid the film. You'll have far more fun at the dentist.

Its ok. Still cliche.
potterdragon9 October 2021
I understand what brethernan was saying but memorizing the thesaurus doesn't make one sound smart... suckin' a little hard and i got through the book comment much like the movie. There is a balance to things. I like the movie but could barely hear half of it, and then ( watching it on tubi free movies if that says anything ) the commercials blew me away with the opposite volume. Reminded me of the last scene in 2001 space odyssey. A star is born, far out... Watch " under the skin " for a similiar low budget art style that hoped to make millions with what looks like a home movie vacation in europe.

Snoozer!
dmoorejdrf8 September 2021
Oh boy, if you're looking for suspense, or entertainment you should go elsewhere, anyplace elsewhere. The acting is downright grade school. They all just act like they are zombies with ABSOLUTELY no emotion or voice inflection. The main character Let moves through the movie with his mouth wide open with eyes darting from side to side as if to wonder where he is. Oh wait, that's the premise of this disaster. Shame on Prime for adding it to their lineup. If you rated this train wreck higher than a 2 you may either be the writer, Director, one of the actors or the actors moms.

Good film for thinkers
eyeoftheghost24 August 2021
I think the reason a lot of people dislike this is because it's basically a slow "artsy" indie film categorized as horror/sci-fi, so expectations going in will not be met for many. That said, I think it's a good film. Not great, but quite good. It's a movie for people who like to philosophize and think about deeper meanings. And in that category this one does not disappoint.

It isn't perfect though and I do believe the main actor showed too much of the "bewildered" facial expression throughout. I would have liked to have seen a wider range of emotion but I can also see why they went that route. I can also agree in general there wasn't enough excitement. They could have added at least 1 or 2 interesting plot points to add tension/interest.

Overall I think this definitely deserves higher than 3 stars!

A REALLY Slow Burn, But Worth It
thepainguy3 September 2021
Don't give up on it.

Yes, it takes a LOT of patience, and it's NOT for certain people, but it's interesting and worthwhile.

Bound to become a cult classic
bretthernan-0273327 June 2021
Please ignore one sentence 'reviews' on here written by those who lack the sympathetic comprehension to either understand or appreciate what's not been produced by the run of the mill, industrial cookie cutter film machine.

They're upset they've encountered a challenging film defeating their capacity to understand and, through the ignorance of their attack stance, prove themselves among those who fear the unique and original such as you too will find yourself experiencing if you open your mind and join with the maker of this film who admonishes us all in the directive, Let's Dream.

Among 2020s crop of unrewarding, usual, cliched, jump scare and gore strewn attempts to revitalise various supernatural genres, all of them done to proverbial death in past decades, Let's Dream leaps out from the cinematic field as an homage to imaginative originality, sublime performances, concise, evocative, poetic, whimsical dialogue and as a prime example what greatness may be achieved when determined passion combines with talent and artful skill to create, (from an obvious low budget base), the riches of a cinematic marvel, bound to become a cult classic for its atmospheric oddities, ethereal evocations and fascinatingly entertaining content.

Let's Dream stands out as an example expounding what may be achieved through the power of an original imaginative idea when combined with artfully considered photographic and location choices and skillfully directed acting, thus invoking a sense of otherworldly atmosphere necessary to convey the viewer's imagination to a place of synergy with great success.

Unusually, in a film filled with much tension and intrigue, it manages to achieve these elements of the thriller, blisteringly, by utilising a most unexpected and disarming technique, that is, by employing not fast cut but instead a meandering pace to its unpredictable, mysterious and intriguing narrative, one that ebbs and flows like a REM sleep vision or the quiet meditation of a daydream, albeit one saw toothed with jagged edges, indicating all is not well with the assurance of a phantom moon.

At one end of the narrative spectrum this film serves as a timely reminder of the importance of getting our act together and mitigating the negative effects of climate change before our entire history as a global culture winds up as an archaeologically retrieved series of files on a thumb drive collected by an alien race whilst passing by and stopping in at, what was once known as an inhabited, livable planet, and at the other, it may be interpreted as a reflection of the inner narrative of the consciousness within the individual as a part of, and apart from, the journey we're all upon (like it or not) as a society, moving toward a comprehension of self awareness within the universe as a whole.

Time does not permit an exhaustive litany of interpretations, but Let's Dream has an abundance to offer, such as its title suggests. This review would be incomplete without mentioning the triple threat that is Let's Dream's lead actor, director and writer, an artist emanating charismatic star quality boundlessly and bound, no doubt, to be recorded within the pantheon of movie making history as one its true greats-a legitimate classic 'movie star' of the highest caliber and of the most venerable, old Hollywood style order.

Snoreful
jayadair22 August 2021
I presume the somnamulistic quality at the beginning was intended to convey the sense of someone who was unable or unwilling to sleep. BUT his lines were so mumbled, though I tried, I could seldom understand what he was trying to say, other that he was tired, couldn't sleep for some reason, and moved around a lot because of his Mom (?). Glad I wanted t put on a film that would put me to sleep anyway. I have no Idea what happened after the opening scen....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

. I wanted desperately walk away.

How this can be produced?

THIS MOVIE IS A COMPLETE TORTURE,NONSENSE AND IRRITATING.

I might have been the target audience, but I couldn't hear the film
ksclarke15 January 2023
I like a slow burn. I enjoy an artsy film (including odd facial expressions that don't change throughout the movie). I like thinking about films that are out of the norm, etc.

However, I couldn't hear anything with the way the sound was engineered (similar to Tenet). I'm an older person (in my 50s) without dog level hearing so I missed much of the whispered dialogue throughout this film.

It was interesting enough that I didn't turn it off, but not being able to hear it was a real downside.

Other than that, I won't say it grabbed me immediately, but there was a point where it grabbed my interest. I also don't think the photography was wonderful, like some of the other positive reviewers said, but it wasn't that bad either. It's just not something that stood out.

Engaging - Astounding camera work
doogles-b24 June 2021
The movie is not a genre a tad outside my usual ... AND ... I was engaged by it throughout. It was a slow moving, sometimes ponderous storyline, but as the plot 'thickened' (:-)) it engaged my thoughts and my feelings in positive ways. The cinematography was astounding. Excellence in lighting was essential and they succeeded admirably. Close-ups of faces were superb. The acting was good. The one character that I really loved was Markus -- ever the optimist, credulous, slap-you-on-the-back fellow, who you know is going to come crashing down at some point.. The actor playing the part of the fellow, Doug Eames, captured the vulnerability and big-heartedness of the guy, even as the character appeared to be suffering from burnout and chronic fatigue syndrome. He was really well cast.

One thought, I wonder how it would look in B&W. It had a feel of '50s fillm-noir. Barbara Stanwyck would play the female lead perfectly :-)

Yes, slow and boring, but for me it was gripping.
donaldpettitt2 July 2022
I rarely write a review be thought these guys deserve much more kudos than the current 2.7 signals.

The main actor carries off a very challenging role. The story and unfolding of the mystery is paced well and and left me with the belief I can explain what happened, though the threat itself is beyond human experience or capacity to understand.

Like Being Inside a Dream!
slipknotic24 June 2021
I really enjoyed this film. It had a dreamlike quality to it both in terms of the story itself and also in the way it was shot, with a very shallow depth of field. It reminded me of recurring themes within my own dreams, symbols of death and rebirth, reminiscent of Cocteau's Orpheus or Jacob's Ladder in some ways. You realize it's an illusory, metaphoric world right off the bat when the protagonist (named Let) informs his date that he hasn't slept since he was 7 years old, and that he keeps trying to return to this cave he remembers from childhood. Through a series of events, he comes to learn that the world as he knows it is ending at the hands of an intergalactic being who is feeding on the planet's consciousness, and that he alone can stop it. Let watches as his world begins to crumble--everyone around him is abruptly drawn into a collective stupor, and suddenly, there's two moons in the sky.

Let begins the proverbial hero's journey to find and confront the being, a decision that draws shadow forces out of the ether in the form of these two thugs who want to stop him. Ultimately, without giving too much away, I think it's about the inward journey, and the process of awakening, told as a kind of fanciful story. It's not for everyone, and those who like their sci-fi more action-oriented and less heady probably aren't going to get it. The rest of us, however, will find it very thought-provoking and enthralling.

Impressed
I watched this a couple weeks ago. It was definitely different, but the photography was beautiful and it had a dreamy, metaphysical quality, and kept me glued to it to the very end!

Very Compelling
Cinepheel24 June 2021
Draws one into its quite unique looking (and into a bit of David Lynch) world. The art design and camera work were beautiful. It almost is in a genre of its own. It's quite a beautiful work of art.

Gripping film
Peterlinari-122 June 2021
The opening of the film is very poetic. The words and the inflection were totally interesting. The remembrances set the stage very nicely for the continuation of the film. The concept is novel as the tension builds.

The characters are well developed and they transform as the film progresses. Eric Garlow and Kara Sclaaf are perfectly cast as the leads. Of special note is the character of Markus, played by Douglas M. Eames whose delivery is spot on.

The other note of praise is for the sound team whose work is admirable.

Great story line. Definitely an attention gripper.

Douglas Eames was fantastic, as was the entire cast.
