- Logline: In 19th Century Styria, after saving the life of a mysterious female stranger, a naïve and isolated young woman finds herself falling in love with the friend she never had, only to discover her lover is a Vampire. Based on the novella of same title written by Sheridan Le Fanu.
Synopsis: For Lord Sheridan and his daughter Laura, during their long journey from England to Styria, they come across a carriage that has fallen into a river. Helpless, they watch the passengers drown. The only survivor of the disaster is a teenaged girl. Although physically not hurt, the stranger has no memory of who she is or how she got there. Lord Sheridan welcomes her into his home to give young Laura a friend with whom to share the days, moments, and the typical interests of their age. The two teenagers immediately establish an intense physical and emotional relationship. Before long, a powerful dark side of the girl emerges. Laura's strong bond with her father erodes, when innocent caresses turn into sexual obsessions and the calculated psychological manipulations of her new friend begin to control Laura's dreams and finally her reality. Whereas in the beginning, Laura was merely another source of nourishment for the survival of the fierce and diabolical being hiding in the body of this teenaged girl, the mysterious friend finds herself so infatuated with Laura's kindness and attention, she wants her as her partner, but first she must turn Laura into a vampire like herself. A present made of choices from which one cannot go back and a past that returns covered with death and revenge, are the seeds for a future of love, poetry, desire, pain, and blood.
