Tedious for the most part.
wayne_noble197010 November 2020
This film is probably about an hour too long, lots and lots of nothing happening then BANG! You've seen it all before. The main characters are annoying and you don't care what happens to them. The ending is a complete let down and leaves you asking 'is that it?'

Don't bother.

Every bit as boring and disappointing as "Paranormal Activity" was...
paul_haakonsen18 November 2020
Granted, I wasn't really expecting much from this 2020 movie titled "8ight After", as it just had that particular low budget vibe to it. But still, with it being a new horror movie that I hadn't seen, of course I managed to find the time to sit down and watch it.

And true enough, I wasn't in for a grand spectacular horror movie. Sure, the movie was watchable, but it was amazingly slow paced and very, very uneventful, which made for a boring and mundane movie. Yet, I managed to endure the movie to the very end, hoping something extraordinary would happen. But it just never did!

The movie feels like a low budget rip off from the "Paranormal Activity" for better or worse. I mean, if you liked the dubious "Paranormal Activity" movies then chances are you'll enjoy "8ight After" as well. But if you, like me, weren't impressed or entertained with the monotonous and uneventful "Paranormal Activity" movies, then you'll might want to just go ahead and skip on watching "8ight After". Some of us literally suffered through this so you don't have to.

For a horror movie then "8ight After" was just bland and boring. It took writers Deanna Rocca and Vincent Rocca 1 hour and 38 minutes to essentially show you just a bedsheet being ripped off, a moving shadow and a closing door. Everything else that was portrayed in the movie was just filler. And come on, let's be honest, a bedsheet, a shadow and a door hardly makes for a proper horror movie.

And the way the movie is constructed and built up as being a self-recorded vblog, wow. Just wow! That is bad, epically bad and makes for some very horrible entertainment in my opinion. It felt like something I could have recorded myself with my phone. So I feel ripped off having to actually invest money and time into watching something like this.

The movie has a very limited cast ensemble, which meant that the pressure to deliver proper acting performances were resting on the shoulders of those actors and actresses. Fair should be fair, and they actually performed well enough with the severe limitations imposed upon them from director Vincent Rocca.

If you enjoy horror movies you should spend your money, time and effort elsewhere, because "8ight After" simply is not really worth the trouble. My rating of this 2020 movie settles on a generous three out of ten stars.

Uuuuugh....

If there has ever been a more dislikable couple in a film I haven't seen them. Pure, absolute garbage. Pointless, wothless sh^%. Anyone associated with this "film" should get a real job and accept that filmmaking isn't their calling.

Very Bad
amok-4230920 January 2021
I am writing this to save someone's time . As i feel that i wasted one and half hour of my time into this movie .The story was so boring and slowly progressing . There are repeated actions every night which does not add to the story just to add minutes to the boring story . Actors was cool but seeing the same 2 actors all over the movie was kinda boring . To sum it up .. save yourself anf look for another movie

Really bad
Conkieh23 October 2020
Don't believe the high ratings. I have watched many bad horrors in my time and this is by far the worst. I regret spending 1.99 on this. Bad acting and bad story. Avoid at all costs.

Arrant nonsense.
jackstupidjack4 November 2020
I'll post a honest review to counter the fake ones here giving this dross anything more than 1/10 as I wouldn't want anyone to have to endure this dire nonsense, there are few redeeming qualities to this steaming heap of ****. the characters are one dimensional, the dialogue, trite, crass drivel. Amazon Prime need to do the public a favour and wipe this waste of time from the internet....the only scare is that the makers or the wooden, amateurish cast of this putrid garbage. might ever be allowed to make another film.... avoid, save yourself an hour or so, which may be better spent braking wind at the neighbours..

Mostly boring
matthewmillerwriter3 February 2023
The acting is decent. The plot is alright. The effects are pretty meh. But the movie is just BORING. For 99% of the movie, literally nothing happens, and not in a good, Blair Witch way, but in a boring, kill me now way.

I found nothing in the movie that scary. A couple of parts were decently creepy, but nothing scary. I did like the fact that there were supernatural elements. I like some supernatural in my horror movies. But this entire movie could have been condensed to a short and it would have been much more entertaining.

As it is, you might better spend your time watching grass grow. Good effort, but it fails because nothing happens most of the movie.

Lamest possible ending
m_hope8521 November 2020
Vloggers and possession was a premise with potential. The acting wasn't bad. But what happened with that ending? Who thought that was a good idea?

Had potential

This movie had potential to be great. The acting wasn't too atrocious. BUT W T F WAS THAT ENDING? Such a let down.

Wish I could give a zero
HeyHay3720 March 2021
I would give this a zero if I could. Bad acting, both people are insanely annoying-whiny as heck. Anticlimactic, boring, with no plot twist or real direction. I am embarrassed for these people. I love independent film makers, but these people need to find some other hobby, because this isn't working out. 1.5 hours of my life wasted-thank god it was free on prime

Similar to another movie
OsirisHain9 November 2020
If you're into found footage/paranormal activity type movies, then this film is for you. I like all sub genres in horror, and the paranormal ones are my favorite thus to why I gave this a high rating. Just sit back and relax, shut off the lights and enjoy the creepiness of this flick.

Just not good
clair_uk11 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There were elements of this film that had an amount of promise but it really does deserve the low scores. The acting was poor, especially by "Christina" who runs like Louis Tully once he'd been possessed by Vinz Clortho in Ghostbusters. Meh.

An entertaining watch
Mustang9211 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I don't really understand the negative reviews. "8ight After" completely delivers on the trailer I saw. It doesn't try to be smarter or sassier than the audience. It's just a fun movie with a bunch of "jump" scares.

The movie is an interesting concept that uses non-traditional filmmaking, comprised of Security Camera footage combined with YouTube-style VLOG footage. "8ight After" is essentially a cross between "Modern Family" and "Paranormal Activity," that throws family drama + horror + supernatural + love into a kitchen blender and hits the "whip" button.

If you like the trailer, you'll probably enjoy the movie!

Outstanding horror movie
witchesbrew-9421016 October 2020
This was an amazing movie. Based on a true story. Horror, suspense and comedy combined. Excellent cinematography and music. Lovely shots of los Angeles and the moon. Had me on the edge of my seat. It is a must watch! Hope to see more from Vincent Rocca soon.

A fun movie that is aware of itself
kissesandcaroms17 October 2020
Its homage or its life imitating art. Either way its fun. The portate cross, vlog style and stalker breath originality into the ghost story.

All in all I thought it was well done. I truly believed that he thought his wife was nuts and I would feel the same way if it happened to me. The sleepwalking was creepy. The wife and I enjoyed it.

A fun watch!

Warning: Spoilers
What a creative and creepy film! I loved the vlog style and the fx with the paranormal activity that was going on. Perfect timing for Halloween. I kept thinking how scary that would be to find something like that cross in my house, yikes!

really enjoyable
Sonnyboo9 February 2021
This plays on a whole psychological level that got under my skin. I thought Deanna was very compelling as the lead. She had this natural performance that went with the documentary vibe of the film.

The editing stands out to me. Slower paced, but in a good way. It built on the scares that were there. This felt more like an homage to old school horror with more of a modern aesthetic.

Very Good! Highly Recommended
MissJedahdyah6 May 2021
This is a great movie. Watched it several times. Great plot and storyline. The acting is better than 99% of hugely popular Hollywood actors. Absolutely incredible horror film. A must watch for sure.
