Great way to teach kids about day to day feelings
dontakeitpersonal30 August 2021
Amazing animation and great voice cast! As an adult I REALLY envy how they are living. I would do anything to live under those circumstances, that alone would make me much more zen :) By chance I was having a bad day at work and the main subject intertwined with my situation. Haha got me thinking and deal with it mentally as well :)

For kids, it's great

The messaging is elementary, but they are good, timeless lessons. As a new husband, I'm excited to show this to my future kids, but I'll stick to some more mature content for now lol

Absolutely brilliant

One of the best series for kids. Very soothing.

My kid loves it, so do we. I wish they brought new episodes more frequently than all other pathetic serieses on apple tv+.

One of the finest Apple offerings
BoxwoodExpress19 December 2020
Apple TV+ isn't that strong of a service if I'm being honest, but wow do they have good animated originals. Central Park, Snoopy in Space, Doug Unplugs, Wolfwalkers, heck even the puppet show Helpsters isn't too bad. Stillwater takes the cake as possibly one of the best Apple TV+ originals.

The show has a panda called Stillwater, and he is very kind, gentle. yet fun-loving at the same time. He's basically Mister Rogers in panda form. He lives next door to three kids named Addy, Michael, and Karl, who deal with basic everyday kid problems.

Instead of getting angry or upset with the kids, Stillwater is calm and patient with them, and teaches them how to solve their problems using stories from Zen Buddhist and Taoist folklore. The stories are beautifully animated in 2D.

The rest of the show is animated in jawdropping, photo-realistic CGI, worthy of Pixar. I don't know how to describe the music, but it has a very mystical, magical feel to it. Special mention goes to the credits song The Never Ending Dream by Kishi Bashi, which I wish was the theme song.

The show is very calming, heartwarming, and adventurous, and one of the finest efforts of Scholastic. Please check it out, it's an experience you'll never forget.

Dazzling show for kids (and adults!)-more please!!!
kkhall28 July 2021
I can't imagine how this dazzling and delightful show could possibly be improved upon, except to have many more episodes to revel in! Not only is it incredibly beautiful to look at, the gentle and loving episodes each share a life lesson but you never feel preached at. Three siblings, Addy age about 11, Michael age about 8, and Carl age about 4 live next door to a giant panda named Stillwater who has a stunning Japanese garden with koi in a stream, trees in bloom and bamboo shoots growing. He is one of the kids' best friend. We don't see any adults and the stories/lessons Stillwater shares are inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. The colors are bright and cheerful and stories so positive. Please don't miss it!

As a preschool teacher, this is fantastic!

So many kids tv shows at the moment incorporate a good guy and a bad guy. Many incorporate weapons of one kind or another. There is a lot of emphasis on action and fighting or on 'mean' behaviours. Kids emulate all of this in class; name-calling, allocating the 'bad guy' role to someone (usually ending in tears), children hitting other children etc. This can make life difficult unnecessarily difficult for educators, and unnecessarily polarising for kids.

This show is a breath of fresh air! The character of Stillwater is wise and calm, always allowing the children to form their own conclusions-the stereotypical notion of 'tell them where to look but not what to see'. The children have age-appropriate dialogue and real-world dilemmas but learn through story-telling how to resolve their troubles. No bad guy, no good guy, no weapons, no fighting. Just a wholesome show that is so aesthetically beautiful that it will have wide appeal. I'd recommend to those as young as toddlers to those in early-middle primary school. In saying that, even my adult self really enjoyed it!

Worth a watch.

It's so precious <3 Protect this at all costs!

This is all those Aesop's Fables, folk stories, tales that your parents may have told you when they were trying to teach you a lesson. Nowadays while those traditions and values keep going downhill, STILLWATER has found a way to effectively teach a valuable lesson while sharing the beautiful animation in the calm setting. Music choice also compliments. It's like watching a meditation session at some points. This is everything. Keep this series alive.

Adore this show
haberdasher29 August 2021
I'm very excited that Apple released new episodes, this is far and away my favorite show to watch with my toddler. Each episode is a Zen lesson presented in an extremely peaceful style - gentle music, easy pace and lovely writing. Each episode is a frame for a secondary story animated in an attractive 2D style.

Unlike a lot of children's shows I think Stillwater promotes attention and focus as much as its lessons. With a few tweaks you could probably make this show for adults, too!

Lovely Show for Young Kids
Rudy_Chickenfoot21 February 2021
If you have young kids this is one of the best shows out there. It teaches valuable lessons, not about words or math like some shows, but about life. And I imagine if I was a kid, I'd love the big fluffy panda.

If you don't have kids and are bored enough to read this review, I'd recommend watching the first half of the first episode (each made of two 15 minute episodes) to appreciate this for what it is.

An amazing show with excellent lessons to learn for anyone!
JacobHugg1ns22 April 2022
I have to be honest. I have watched this show all on my own without any kids. Each episode is split into two stories. Each story features the (stunningly animated) kids and the wise teaching panda Stillwater. A kid runs into an issue, and Stillwater teaches a lesson using a tale featuring animal characters. Always a great life lesson for anyone. Absolutley love this show. Wow. Amazing.

A Great Show
spniroul24 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I can't really explain in words, but the show spreads love and joy throughout the episodes. The show is not just for kids but also for grown ups. It provides deep insight for adults on how to handle/raise kids and also teaches valuable lessons for kids. A great way to communicate meditative way of living the life.

Zen for all ages

This is the best TV program for kids. We enjoy watching it as a family. The lessons on mindfulness and gratitude are unmatched in any other kids program. A real gem. Thank you for the makers and AppleTV.

My son loves this show!
lpozuna21 April 2022
I have a 2.5 year old son, and he loves this show. Unlike other shows that have many quick scene changes and flashing colors (which is like cocaine to young children, addicting and low yielding), Stillwater is very slow paced and gentle. My son asks for it every day and I can tell he's learning from it. He says and does things that I know he saw from the show like saying "let's race!" and throwing leaves into a stream. Besides for kids, this isn't a bad show for parents either. There are two animation styles in each episode which are both well done. Stillwater himself would be a perfect neighbor.

Best Childrens show available. Period
rambo-9657121 January 2024
Let me start by stating that I don't write reviews. Ever. However when something this outstanding comes across my plate I am compelled to do so. Stillwater is in my mind the single greatest show available to kids in this day and age. We are a limited screen time family. Try to keep the kids off the electronics when we can. Stillwater provides a guilt free screen time outlet for us. The messages conveyed in every episode are so wholesome and filled with wisdom that is accessible to a child it's insane. That coupled with the idyllic settings in the episodes and immersive animation there is no comparable show currently available. The messages being taught are again able to provide so much wisdom to the child. Whether it be a lesson in mindfulness, patience, courage, self worth, humility, creativity, passion, love of planet, love of people, health, loyalty, or some other pillar of good character.

I can see the wheels turning as our daughter watches the show, not like other shows where you just see a blank stare at the screen. I will pause the show and talk to her about what is happening and the dialogue we have is quite impressive for someone who just turned 4. This show is an absolute home run. If it's not on your radar it should be. Such a great show. Much more so than literally all the other, to be honest, garbage children's programs out there. Stillwater is a massive thumbs up from us.
