A "feel-good" episode!
kushalc318 August 2021
WhatIf Episode 2 is an emotional farewell to Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa, & a wonderfully entertaining story that brings two wildly different corners of the MCU together. There's also some BIG cameos that are executed in funny, wholesome & surprising ways. A "feel-good" episode!

Loved this!

An improvement to the first episode, which was sort of a retelling of a familiar story. This truly an original story with lots of cool twists and turns. It was awesome and at the same really sad to hear Chadwick one final time as T'Challa. I'm no animation expert, but this episode looked better than the first. Top notch! And the end title brought tears to my eyes.

Mad Titan in Senses

Warning: Spoilers
Prince T'Challa instead of Peter Quill did more good to the MCU than what could have been avoided.

Yes, foremost reason is the first word of my review is the title Prince because King T'Chaka is still alive as he was too busy in searching for his son and never looked towards opening Wakanda towards the Rest of the World.

The biggest Genocide in the universe is avoided by talking senses into Thanos through "Good Argument" which is proved by absence of Gamora. Nebula distaste his Guardian but eventually accepted him as her Father.

Although, the character of The Collector was same as before but the fate of his Karma was much more beautiful in this one.

But.. but.. but.. What about Peter Quill and his biological father, Ego. At the end, he was approached by Ego whose sole objective is to to remake the universe in his own image. The ending was abrupt and suggestive enough that he'll use his son successfully this time to fullfill his true purpose as there are no Guardian of The Galaxy to protect Quill.

RIP Chadwick Boseman

What an incredible send-off for T'Challa and Chadwick Boseman in the MCU. Although the first episode felt a bit rushed, this one was amazing. Great story, beautiful emotional depth, and an overall touching tribute to the King of Wakanda. Can't wait for the rest of the series!

Its so random!!
garabedian12319 August 2021
Again they just did whatever they wanted under the guise that the only difference is Tchalla becoming star lord.

Where is Gammorrah? Why does Blue girl not have robot parts? Unless they are saying Tchalla talked down thanos when he was only just a child. But if that were true Gammorah would still be there.

Thanos being good was good for a small chuckle..then it was just stupid...

Why are people hating on this?

This episode was better than Week 1 which I liked. The late, lamented Chadwick Bozeman stars in this episode which definitely had a light hearted Guardians of the Galaxy vibe. And it even features Thanos as a good guy!

What If... T'Challa Became a Star-Lord?
Prismark1019 August 2021
Broadcast almost a year after the death of Chadwick Boseman.

The episode comes across like an unexpected and a surprise gift. More Boseman as T'Challa.

Just what if T'Challa and not Peter Quill was taken by Yondu and became a Ravager.

The prince of Wakanda still becomes a legend. A Starlord everyone respects and admires. The Ravagers are a force for good.

Even Thanos turns his back on committing genocide. All courtesy of T'Challa and his optimistic outlook in life.

This is a lighthearted fun animated adventure as T'Challa takes on the Collector for a valuable artefact.

It is a heist episode with triple crosses and family reunions. If you run out of luck, then go find a duck.

I've watched the episode and I loved it. It was great to hear Chadwick Boseman's voice in this episode. Marvel did a great job with the animation. The story of this episode is wonderful and I even liked the ending.

Not bad at all
yonatantar18 August 2021
This was decent & better than the first episode. Some character appearences really surprised me. The problem is with the pacing of the episode- 8 think it should be longer, to allow a deeper exploration of each world. Heck, I wouldn't mind if every episode was 2 hours long.

Still waiting for the overarching story to pick up.

Aweful Writing
cdil23 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Boseman was great, love hearing his voice! However the writing for this was terrible!

Why is he called Star Lord? Peter's mom gave him that name, so there's no reason for T'challa to be called Star Lord. Also why is Thanos the most powerful being in the universe so pathetic?

much better.
doddtom18 August 2021
Much better pacing then the first episode. The changes that happen with the story are also a lot more bold then Captain Carter, which definitely turns out to be a good thing! Other positive things too that will take too long to mention, just watch the episode!

Only thing is.. So. Much. Unneeded. Comedy.

I know the mcu has a lot of unneeded comedy but jesus this episode took it to the max. With such a short runtime there is wayyy too much comedic relief with *clears throat* certain characters. It completely takes you out of the story and just annoyed me so much.

Overall, great episode, and a great improvement from the first one. Ignore reviews saying the pacing is bad, it's 1000x better than the first episode and I think it fits well!

7.8 stars.

What's with all the complaining about The Collector
jazzy61118 August 2021
So many reviews here saying the original actor was not used for The Collector. Yes he was! Benico del Toro was the original actor AND the voice actor in this episode.

Sheesh, pay attention people.

The Embers of Genesis
ha77y73ad9718 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Where to start with this episode just to hear T'Challa's voice is awesome, many interviews with the directors have mentioned Chadwick Boaseman was the first to sign on eventually knowing what would happen. With Djimon Hounsou's Korath the Pursuer fan boying over Star Lord this is a bit of a weird change from the GOTG but plays out all the same, steal the orb, fight a little but Yondu being ready on hand to help Star Lord splits the story again!

Jumping back to 1988 and compared to the Captain Carter Nexus event this was a weaker story to set about the changes. Yandu sending Taserface and Kraglin to pick up Quill and instead picked up T'Challa..... surely they would have dropped him back off and picked up the right kid? And I was wrong to assume this! One line changes the story with Wakanda being destroyed whilst talking with a reinvigorated Nebula still not speaking her father.

But Thanos/ Josh Brolin turning up in this episode.....WHAT?? He's a Ravenger and the smooth talking T'Challa was able to persuade him not to kill half the universe which could, in turn, create another branch reality! Name dropping the Skrull being defeated, Ronin not destroying Drax's home world and a bank heist that could well return at some point is awesome. This is going to be a running theme throughout the series that I cant get over Drax's voice not being Dave Batista's! Same as Steve Rodgers in the episode before! And the Collector in this episode as well!

This a Heist on the card to steal something from the Collector on Knowhere, where the Black Order is protecting him, Thanos goons from Infinity War, makes for a clever telling of the changes to the universe in this branch. All the characters are still around under new management or creating their own paths! Breaking Howard the Duck out of the collection ties perfectly back into GOTG vol 2 where he's seen with the Ravengers. Saying "When you're out of luck, always go Duck" hunts me to remember that awful 1980s movie! Again the Collectors collection is a trophy room of easter eggs, CCCP dog, dark Elves, The grandmasters Ship, Nova crops starfighter and a Wakandan ship that's to just name a few!

The final fight bring another level of easter eggs, Korgs arm, a knife forged in dark matter (Malekith's dagger), Caps Shield, Mjolnir, Hela's crown and many of the weapons' from Thor Ragnarok that could have been taken from any number of legendary characters. Overall a fun episode that again has a few issues but brings an upward curve to the series that I hope this keeps climbing!

TREAT for fans.
MandalBros-519 August 2021
The previous episode was very similar to the movie but this episode is completely different as compared to Guardian of The Galaxy. In this episode, there are so many surprising moments. Also you've to be concentrated while watching, otherwise it might be confusing for you.

Totally enjoyed this episode. Background sound is so cool. I never thought I would see the biggest villain of the Infinity Saga in such a way. Want to say more about this but it'll act as spoiler. So, that's it. This is a treat for fans.

Available on Disney+ Hotstar.

[6.7] Mildly entertaining
cjonesas14 January 2022
A mostly uninteresting episode with a freezing storyline, weak logic and some ounces of development. As a standalone episode, it doesn't impress at all and no thrill is felt whatsoever.

The rating goes to the animation and voice-overs. RIP Chadwick Boseman. You personified T'Challa and the Black Panther so well.

Stop taking the series so seriously. Enjoy it
cbsman9721 August 2021
If you have psychoanalyzed every character in the MCU, you will not enjoy this. If not, you will find an interesting and creative take on the MCU that serves as a refreshing and novel approach to the characters, places and story that we've come to know over the last decade.

Not Bad
olaf_reeh22 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This feels like a Fast & Furious version of the MCU with the high emphasis on family. Even if you have been attacking the family in the past or mistreated members of them, in the end you are still part of the gang. But I don't mind. It's also nice to see Thanos 'powerless' and on the side of the good guys for once.

The animation works here, in space, too. The easter eggs are also nice to see but don't distract too much.

Simply doesn't work
thedivinewoman10 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed the first episode so I was intrigued by the premise of this one, but, it doesn't work turning Star Lord into a kind of Robin Hood and Thanos into a fluffy dude who thanks T'Challa for making him see the errors of his ways.

There is a sadness knowing this will be the last time Chadwick Boseman will be a part of the MCU, but, I'm not going to praise it because of that.

Sorry, but, not for me, perhaps making T'Challa's alternative universe linked in with Thor and Loki may have worked better.

This episode felt like a perfect blend of Black Panther and GOTG movies!
mizbanazir18 August 2021
This episode did almost everything right. It is miles ahead of the first one. The story didn't feel rushed at all, T'Challa's character as Star-Lord was just as good as the og Black panther, tons of surprises that will not leave your mind long after finishing the episode.

What i loved most about this episode was that it had heart. The emotional element is what stands out the most. You will end up feeling good after watching it.

The only issue with this episode was the humour. It was kind of overused and that ended up feeling like they were trying too hard to be funny. I wont spoil it but there was one serious character taken from the first GOTG and was reduced to being just silly and goofy. All this just to add more humor. But it's only a minor issue and completely forgettable.

To sum up, this episode brought me back hope for the upcoming episodes. It was a huge improvement on the first one and i hope to see more episodes like this in future.

P. S. - The fact that this was Chadwick Boseman's last appearance makes this episode all the more emotional. May he rest in peace.

A Ravager never flies solo! + Classic Star-Lord!
wetmars19 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This was great, widely entertaining, humorous, and a beautifully well-done send-off for Chadwick Boseman. I love the relationship between T'Challa & Yondu, where Yondu is suddenly not his usual self, but kinder. I did not expect that Thanos was going to be in this one, what a shocker! I loved what they did to him where he isn't all-menacing, but loads of fun? I suddenly liked how they did to Korath where he isn't ruthless. Heist Nebula is also enjoyable. Drax is suddenly comedic. Man, they killed off Korg... Honestly, this was better than the first episode where it doesn't have any pacing issues formatted into 35-minutes, wonderful dialogue. The animation again is top-notch, good soundtrack. I can't wait for more episodes!

It was great to hear Chadwick again. May he rest easy. "A Ravager never flies solo!"

R. I. P Chadwick Boseman 1976 - 2020.

10/10.
