A film starring Shillong
drewbernardmyrthong5 September 2022
Wanphrang Diengdoh's first feature, Lorni - The Flaneur has the town of Shillong as one of the film's prominent characters with the plot set around the larger story of a culture caught between the past and the present, between the grip of tradition and the consequences of angst triggered by the fast-expanding footprints of modernity.

The film is worth watching because of the brilliant performance by the veteran, Adil Hussain as the lead in his first foray into Khasi cinema. The visual flair of the director that brought life to the town of Shillong as well as the supporting cast of seasoned local actors and newcomers who took advantage of the screen time they got, showcase that Khasi cinema is not far behind some of the more established film industries in the country.

With the scenic beauty of Meghalaya and it's wide array of folktales and stories from the local tribes, plenty of films can be made in Meghalaya, about Meghalaya and by Meghalayans, all they need is a little more support and platform like this one from SonyLiv.
