The last few minutes... Grab your tissues...

I know this review comes 12 years after the episode first aired but this show still holds up in 2021. The episode "Balm" as a whole is very good but the last few minutes are what I want to focus on. One thing about the SOA show as a whole is that there are some really compelling cold opens and finales that really hit home and make you think. The ending of this one is no exception. The fact that Gemma knew the only way to get Jax to change his mind was to finally open up about her attack is nothing short of brilliant. And I love how Tara was there for her, encouraging her - quite a far cry from how they felt about one another at the beginning of the series. The whole episode builds to this scene and it's just done beautifully.

So in this episode Jax was dealing with his decision to relocate. I didn't even think how bad it would be before Gemma talked to Tara. And it was interesting how he will be convinced to stay. None of the guys could do anything, not even his father's legacy that Gemma told him to read could. And so she went for telling about her rape. This was pretty brilliant. This definitely is something that would make them want to work together. Now I am just all curious what will happen. Considering the circumstances and also that the season finale is close I am sure it will be huge. The scene where she tells it was greatly done. She was the only one speaking but the other actors made it perfect without words.

Amazing episode, Chibs is back. We meet Jimmy O who has history with Chibs he banished him from the Ireland, took his wife and daughter and scarred him. Stahl aproaches Chibs to arrest Jimmy Chibs cooperates, That will propably not be good for him. Jax proceeds his descicion to go Nomad no one can convince him to stay so Gemma tells Jax and Clay about the rape. What an amazing and emotional scene. So well acted by everyone.

Best performances: Tommy Flanagan and Katey Sagal
