2025 Cannes Critics’ Panel: Day 8 – Jafar Panahi’s ‘It Was Just an Accident’
Image
Jafar Panahi might be more synonymous with Berlin say over Cannes, but he has left his mark with the likes of 1995 Camera d’Or winner The White Balloon and masterwork Crimson Gold back in 2003 in the Un Certain Regard section. The Iranian neorealist who redefines what it means to be an artist under house arrest, has previously shored up in comp with 3 Faces (read our ★★★ review) . Past the midway point of the competition, not much is know on It Was Just an Accident – we assume that is was filmed last year. With the backing of France and Luxembourg coin, this simply goes by a minor accident sets in motion a series of escalating consequences.…...

There’s No Stopping Eiichiro Oda as Imu’s Biggest Secret Was Right Under Our Noses the Entire Time
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains heavy spoilers for future episodes of the One Piece anime.

Imu, the secret ruler of the world and the master of the Gorosei, might be a figure shrouded in mystery, but that won’t stop the One Piece fandom from theorising about their powers and origins. One such One Piece fan has come up with a theory suggesting that the story’s Impel Down arc may have sneakily revealed the powers of Imu-sama and the Gorosei.

If this theory turns out to be true, then it would cement Eiichiro Oda as the King of Foreshadowing, because we’ve been under the impression that it was the Egghead Arc that first revealed their powers. Allow us to dissect this theory for you and discuss its legibility.

Denzel Washington As Race-Swapped Magneto Rumor Reportedly True, Racist Backlash Has Already Begun
Image
One rumor is gaining serious traction (and backlash): Denzel Washington is stepping into the role of Magneto. According to recent reports, the legendary actor is confirmed to play a race-swapped version of the iconic X-Men villain. While many fans are hyped to see what Washington brings to the table, not everyone’s on board.

The announcement has sparked waves of racist outrage online, proving once again how deep-rooted bias runs in fandom spaces. As Marvel continues pushing for more inclusive casting, this move could reshape the MCU and challenge some uncomfortable truths along the way.

Marvel eyes Denzel Washington for the Magneto role, but fan reactions are divided Denzel Washington in Crimson Tide | Credits: Hollywood Pictures

Marvel reportedly wants Denzel Washington to play Magneto in the MCU. On May 16, “Comic Media” posted the update via Instagram. Jeff Sneider from The Hot Mic podcast claims Marvel is seriously considering Washington for the role.

What Is Young And The Restless Mariah Copeland Hiding – 3 Possible Secrets
Image
The Young and the Restless spoilers suggest Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) is hiding something, and it was very evident during the Tuesday, April 29 episode.

Still, what kind of secret is she keeping under wraps, and how will it affect her relationship with Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) moving forward? Here are three possible storyline scenarios!

A One-Night Stand

As soon as Mariah entered Crimson on the April 29 show, Young and the Restless fans could sense something was “off” with her. She immediately looked guilty of something, so could she have engaged in a one-night stand with another woman?

After all, she returned from a business trip, so it’s quite possible that she may have crossed a line with someone else over drinks at the hotel bar. One bevy may have led to another, until she found herself in bed with someone other than her wife!

Young and the Restless Early Spoilers March 10-14: Victor Seethes, Claire Pushes & Holden Plots
Image
Young and the Restless spoilers reveal that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is seething, Claire Grace Newman (Hayley Erin) is pushing, and Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) is plotting.

As we always do on early edition day, we are going to start with what’s happening the rest of this week, and that starts on Wednesday, March 5th.

Victor and Jack’s Tense Confrontation at the Gcac: Abbott vs. Newman Feud Intensifies

Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) runs into Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), and he’s at the Gcac. They’re both there with their wives, and Victor is talking about his idiot brother Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). That’s a really nice thing to say, starting a communications company, and he’s telling Jack that Billy is a stain on John Abbott’s reputation, just being real nasty.

Why Gene Hackman is always our Lex Luthor
Romane Simon in French Connection (2020)
The French Connection. Unforgiven. The Poseidon Adventure. Crimson Tide. Hoosiers. Gene Hackman is one of the most outstanding actors of this generation—or any generation. At the age of 95, he lived a remarkable life, one of acclaim and prestige. Regretfully, his death is clouded in mystery. His roles will be cherished for decades to come. His two Oscars will be on the cinephile's mantle forever.

Yet, among nerds, he will always be Lex Luthor.

Some nerds (and critics) thought Hackman's portrayal of Superman's criminal nemesis was part huckster and used car salesman. When it's that guy, Hollywood thought they were getting a more serious tone with grit and that signature gravely voice barking commands.

He was paired with Ned Beatty, another serious thespian. Yet, when faced against Christopher Reeve, they became Abbott and Costello.

And you know what? DC Comics wouldn't have had any other way. It worked splendidly.

Critics loved the performance.

Gene Hackman Remembered: How the ’70s Acting Legend Left His Mark and Shaped ‘The Conversation’
Image
On the Mount Rushmore of great American actors — specifically those who emerged in the late 1960s and brought a transformative, bone-deep intensity to their craft over the industry-redefining decade that followed — four faces loom large: Al Pacino, Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman.

The eldest of that contingent, Hackman is less familiar to younger audiences than the others, having withdrawn from acting more than 20 years ago, to write and paint in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Over a four-decade screen career, the stage-trained star gravitated to complex movies for grown-up audiences (the only significant exception being his iconic turn as Lex Luthor in the “Superman” franchise), and might have been entirely forgotten by Gen Z if not for his performance as the gruff patriarch in Wes Anderson’s cult favorite “The Royal Tenenbaums.”

Hackman’s unexpected and unusual death (he was discovered alongside his wife and dog) offers a chance...

Claire Denis in Talks to Direct Cannibal Crime Drama ‘The Soap Maker’ (Exclusive)
Image
Revered French auteur Claire Denis is in advanced talks to direct cannibalistic crime drama “The Soap Maker.”

The project, being shopped around at Berlin’s EFM, is an updated remake of Italian director Mauro Bolognini’s 1977 cult movie “Gran Bollito,” which starred Shelley Winters as a serial killer who cooked the bodies of her victims into soap, cake and cookies.

The English-language film is inspired by the true story of Italy’s Leonarda Cianciulli, who in the late 1930s and early ’40s murdered three local women in the central Italian town of Correggio and disposed of their bodies with chemicals — using what was left to make soaps, candles, cookies and cakes that she shared with people in her community.

“The Soap Maker,” which is lead-produced by the Los Angeles- and New York-based Gerry Pass via his Chrome Entertainment shingle, is being packaged by CAA and has been pitched to prospective buyers at the EFM.

Soap Opera Critics Review Hits and Misses: Top 10 Moments of the Week of February 10-14
Image
Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of February 10-14 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless.

Top 10 Hits and Misses

10. Miss: Shunning Sharon at Crimson Lights (Y&r). If characters like Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Summer (Allison Lanier) run into Sharon (Sharon Case) outside of Crimson Lights, have at her. But do not go into the place that she owns and unload all over her. It’s wrong on so many levels.

9. Hit: Belle and Brady’s conversation (Days). Martha Madison and Eric Martsolf showed off their great sibling chemistry as Brady needled Belle about sleeping with Ej (Dan Feuerriegel). Belle didn’t appreciate her mother spilling the tea to Brady. It ended up being a fun conversation.

'The Only Reason I Did a Decent Job': Grant Gustin Explains How He Kept The Flash Fresh
Image
Having played the iconic DC character the Flash longer than anyone, Grant Gustin has now given insight into how he kept the Scarlet Speedster fresh for so long. Gustin played the Barry Allen incarnation of the character in The CW's The Flash for nine seasons and also appeared in crossovers and other shows across the Arrowverse.

Gustin told Cbr at Megacon that the show retained its freshness because he took the responsibility of playing the Flash seriously. "It was never an intentional thought about how to keep it fresh," he began. "I'm a very scene-by-scene actor. I wanted to keep it realistic. The only reason I did a decent job with the show is I took it very seriously. Try not to suck." Gustin's dedication to playing the Crimson Comet has always been evident in interactions with fans throughout his years of playing the character in the show that ended its run two years ago.

“Hey Lois, remember that time I got a nuke in Call of Duty?”: Black Ops 6’s Most Infamous Revenue Source Has Now Become It’s Worst Nightmare
Image
As Black Ops 6 players demand that Treyarch adopt a more realistic design approach with new skins, Call of Duty‘s controversial operators are once again at the center of controversy. While Black Ops 6 players were hoping that 2025 would see the return of more grounded designs, recent additions to the in-game store have disappointed fans. Realism in Call of Duty has been a hot topic for many years.

Black Ops 6‘s Operator skins are getting out of hand. | Credit: Activision.

Although they weren’t the first, games like Modern Warfare 3 in 2023 and Black Ops Cold War in 2020 are among the most recent to feature bizarre operator skins.

However, unrealistic skins in Call of Duty have existed since Advanced Warfare in 2014 when players could take on the role of a gingerbread man. Players appear to have had enough of Call of Duty’s increasingly strange operator skins over the last four or five years.

This 10-Year-Old Guillermo del Toro Classic is the Perfect Gothic Mystery That's Still Worth Revisiting
Image
Quick Links Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak Is a Love Letter to Victorian Gothic Horror Crimson Peak Originally Had Two Different Actors in the Lead Roles Crimson Peak Is the Haunted Mansion From Guillermo Del Toro Audiences Never Got to See

Guillermo del Toro's 2015 film Crimson Peak might not be as well remembered as some of his other films, but it's a case study of Gothic romance and mystery. The film stars Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, and Mia Wasikowska in a disturbing and doomed love story between Wasikowska's Edith Cushing and Hiddleston's Thomas Sharpe. In true del Toro fashion, it's a movie that relies heavily on visuals to create the compelling atmosphere its characters inhabit. Overall, its tone feels rather reminiscent of another master of horror, Alfred Hitchcock. Still, del Toro manages to pull off a story that manages both to be an homage and an original. He...

‘What Lurks Beneath’ Review
Image
Stars: Ryan Giesen, Simon Phillips, Michael Swatton, Dela Reilley, Sienna Star | Written by Marcus Raul | Directed by Jamie Bailey

Much like airplanes, submarines are an excellent setting for films, especially in the horror and thriller genres. Not only are they inherently claustrophobic, but they also provide a great reason for the characters to stick around rather than run off to save themselves and get help. Also, as an added bonus, as long as you have access to a good simulator or a decommissioned craft, the Hmcs Ojibwa in this case, they can be shot economically on one location.

That brings us to What Lurks Beneath, the new film from director/cinematographer/editor Jamie Bailey and writer Marcus Raul. The film opens with a familiar edge-of-World-War-iii scenario in which the USS Titan, a nuclear sub under the command of Captain Banks, is the only craft with the position and payload to,...

There's One System Starfield Needs To Overhaul Before Starborn Dlc Releases
Image
In Starfield, if players commit crimes like stealing, attacking someone, or destroying ships, they get a bounty placed on them by the factions that control the area. The more serious the crime, the higher the bounty. This bounty is known across that faction's territory, so if players enter a system where they've committed a crime, they'll immediately be recognized as a criminal. While interesting, this system needs to be overhauled by the upcoming Starborn Dlc.

The current system doesn't offer much for players who want to play as pirates. While piracy is an option, especially if players side with the Crimson Fleet faction, the consequences make it hard to pursue that lifestyle without sacrificing other aspects of the game. There aren’t any long-term ways to escape the authorities, which forces players to either live as pirates and miss out on many features or give up piracy to enjoy the rest of the game.

Star Wars Gave Emperor Palpatine Some Great Fights, But These 5 Duels Somehow Evaded the Big Screen
Image
In a universe filled with beings of darkness and evil, Emperor Palpatine stands above the rest as Star Wars’ greatest villain. Palpatine was the main villain of all three Star Wars film trilogies, as well as countless stories in the novels, video games, and comics. Darth Sidious lurks in the background, puppeting the galaxy from the shadows, and eliminating any threat to his power with terrifying precision - including the entire Jedi Order.

Despite Emperor Palpatine’s standing as the ultimate villain of Star Wars, there are shockingly few instances of Sidious actually engaging in a lightsaber duel. The Emperor’s power comes from manipulation and control, which is why the likes of Darth Maul, Count Dooku, and Darth Vader usually do all the fighting for him. However, when fans look beyond just the films and television series within the realm of Star Wars comics, they’ll find a number...

Pokémon Tcg Pocket's Deadliest New Combo Comes From Two Unexpected Pokémon
Image
A new dominant deck has emerged in Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. The game recently released Mythical Island, its first-ever expansion that adds over 60 new cards (not including alternate art cards) to use in decks. While 60 cards isn't enough to create a ton of new deck archetypes, the set did create a new deck that has dominated in early competitive play. The new deck featuring Celebi and Serperior is the first Grass-type deck to emerge as a potentially meta-defining deck.

Not only is the new Celebi ex deck incredibly powerful, it sets a new bar for dealing out damage thanks to a couple of key synergies. If players are able to set the deck up right and get the right coin flips, Celebi ex can easily one-shot every single Pokémon in the game, including cards it would otherwise be at a disadvantage against. This new deck sets the new standard within Pokémon Tcg Pocket,...

As co-president of DC Studios, James Gunn has (to borrow from the competition) great power and great responsibility. You can see that earnest love in how deep he pulls from the comics. At Marvel Studios, Gunn elevated the Guardians of the Galaxy into the mainstream and made his fave Rocket Raccoon a household name. Gunn's "The Suicide Squad" was similarly filled with deep cuts from DC comic books. No one else would make a blockbuster starring characters like Peacemaker (John Cena), Ratcatcher (Daniela Melchior), and Polka-Dot Man.

I Know Im Going To Be BBQ: Denzel Washingtons $167.8M Train Action Movie Nearly Resulted In Disaster, Reveals Stuntman
Image
One stunt in a Denzel Washington action movie nearly went horribly wrong, a stuntman reveals. Throughout his career, Washington has appeared in many celebrated roles, winning Oscars for his performances in Glory and Training Day. He continues to expand his filmography alongside well-known Hollywood talent. Unlimited in terms of range or genre, some other credits include Malcolm X, Much Ado About Nothing, Remember the Titans, American Gangster, and Fences (which he also directed). However, it has been Washingtons action thriller roles that do particularly well at the box office, as evidenced by The Equalizer franchise.

Among his more famous movies is 2004s Man on Fire, where he played John W. Creasy, a former CIA agent who targets criminals responsible for kidnapping Lupita Ramos (Dakota Fanning). That film marked Washingtons second collaboration with the late Tony Scott, having already starred in Crimson Tide. The pair would reunite for three more riveting productions,...

Guillermo del Toro’s Surprising Favorite Kubrick Films Will Change How You See Both Directors
Image
Guillermo del Toro has a way of turning dark and fantastical worlds into something magical. His films often flip the script, making monsters the misunderstood heroes and humans the real villains. Over the years, he’s earned critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base, picking up Oscars for The Shape of Water and Pinocchio. Interestingly, much of his inspiration comes from unlikely sources, including Guillermo del Toro’s favorite Kubrick films, Barry Lyndon and Eyes Wide Shut—two movies that reveal a side of Kubrick not everyone appreciates.

In a 2015 interview with Little White Lies during the release of Crimson Peak, del Toro revealed that his favorite Kubrick films are two that often get overlooked: Barry Lyndon and Eyes Wide Shut. “I like the Kubrick that nobody likes,” he said, pointing out that these aren’t the iconic blockbusters like 2001: A Space Odyssey or The Shining. Instead, they’re quieter,...

Eddie Brock is The New Host of Carnage, Forever Changing His Venom Legacy
Image
Eddie Brock has almost always been the host of the Venom symbiote making it a huge shock that he is about to bond with the even more dangerous off-shoot Carnage. While Eddie began his tenure as Venom as a villain, he has had one of Marvel's greatest redemption arcs in the decades since, becoming a firmly heroic character, but what will happen when he becomes Carnage is anyone's guess.

Marvel has announced Eddie Brock: Carnage written by Charles Soule, with art by Jesus Saiz which will bring together the oddest couple in Marvel's ever-expanding symbiote lore yet.

The series is set to have gamechanging implications not just for Eddie and the Carnage symbiote, but for Marvel's current Venom War crossover event as well. Fans still don't know who the final host of Venom will be, but now it seems it will not be Eddie Brock, forcing him into a surprising...

Star Wars Outlaws Provides A Template For Lucasfilm Film & TV – But Will They Use It?
Image
Ever since being crushingly disappointed by "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," my interest in "Star Wars" has been on a nearly uninterrupted downslide. There have been no movies in the ensuing five years, and with one exception, the Disney+ TV shows have become so wrapped up in linking story threads to Dave Filoni's animated projects that they've completely alienated me. Even "The Acolyte," the one show that was promised to be a fresh start that wasn't tied to any major lore or characters, ended up eventually succumbing to that same fate.

The one exception has been "Andor," the exceptional series from Tony Gilroy that's returning soon for its second and final season, and now there's a new-ish video game that seems to operate in similar territory. Star Wars Outlaws, which arrived less than two months ago, is an open-world, third-person adventure game where you play as a thief named Kay Vess,...

Stardew Valley 1.6 Is Great, But There's Another New Stardew Expanded Update To Sink Your Time Into
Image
While Stardew Valleys 1.6 update adds plenty of amazing content, the hugely popular Stardew Valley Expanded mod has also just released an enormous update that deserves attention. For many Stardew Valley players, mods provide a perfect way to fill the time between new official content from ConcernedApe. Stardew Valley Expanded is one of, if not the best example of this, and its most recent update has only further improved its impact on the original game.

Stardew Valley 1.6 will soon arrive on consoles, a long-awaited development that has naturally been met with huge excitement. However, for PC players who have already found all of Stardew Valleys newest secret features, this mod can still provide many more hours of extra content to explore. Although starting new farms for major updates can help to expand the effective lifespan of the game, the modding community that has sprung up around Stardew Valley has plenty of...

7 Best Ships in Starfield For Mass Destruction
Image
Having a good ship available is undoubtedly one of the many important mechanics to consider when starting to play Starfield.

There are many classes of ships to choose from within the game universe, and it all depends on the type of use the player wants to give when exploring the different galaxies and planetary systems.

Many players tend to focus on the cargo capacity that ships can carry to take advantage of all the materials and resources found on planets.

On the other hand, there are users who prefer to concentrate more on the ship’s combat aspect, opting for high firepower to board and destroy enemy ships. These are the best ships in Starfield.

Best Evangelion Mecha Designs, Ranked
Image
As a mecha series, Neon Genesis Evangelion's EVAs are a core part of the franchise. Their design mixes perfectly with their narrative cohesion into the plot while also being visually appealing to the eyes and perfect for modeling kit fans everywhere. The EVAs are less mechanical robots of mass destruction and more bio-organic lifeforms akin to human lifeforms in a metallic frame. Created by the organization Gehirn and developed further by Neele and Seele, Eva units have godlike powers that can reshape the world and even initiate the Third Impact.

Though they may be giant humans, the EVAs are equipped with metallic plates to give them a more mecha-based design, and some of these designs have become symbolic of the franchise itself. Purple and green on a metallic frame have become synonymous with Neon Genesis Evangelion. With the franchise possibly concluding with Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, it's a good...

Starfield's Biggest Problem Can't Be Fixed By Shattered Space Dlc
Image
Starfield launched to mixed reception, garnering some critical acclaim while simultaneously receiving a thorough beating online from critics and players alike. The criticisms were manyfold, although largely centered around the lack of traditional Bethesda design that fans had come to know and love from their plethora of award-winning titles. Thankfully, a series of updates have fixed some of the numerous issues plaguing the game at launch, and the Shattered Space Dlc promises to further rectify even more of them.

However, it's hard not to feel that Starfield was somewhat doomed from the start and that Shattered Space is too late, despite the many promises it makes. There is one fundamental problem with Starfield, one that was controversial even before the game launched, with developers jumping to its defense despite its overall absurdity. Shattered Space, with all of its good intentions, cannot fix this issue so inherently baked into Starfield's game design,...

Star Wars Outlaws: Should You Take Tizlak To Gorak Or Accept Tizlak's Bribe?
Image
Star Wars Outlaws features a number of difficult choices that will ultimately determine Kay Vess' standing with the four Syndicates. She often has the choice between two options, with one increasing her reputation with one Syndicate and lowering it with another. One such choice is whether players should take Tizlak, the traitorous Pyke, to Gorak.

While fans may want to reach max reputation with all Syndicates in Outlaws, this quest will either increase Kay's standing with the Pykes or avoid losing reputation with the Crimson Dawn Syndicate. It's a tough choice made even harder by all of Tizlak's tantalizing credits that are on the line. Fortunately, players who are stuck on this choice in the Syndicate Quest, "The Traitor," do have an obvious way out.

Star Wars Outlaws: Should You Let Jadd Keep The List Or Take It?
Image
Star Wars Outlaws' focus on open-world gameplay creates a truly immersive Star Wars experience, allowing players to build a narrative that has consequences for actions and real character development. The "Passenger" quest in the game is no exception. This quest allows players to build up a reputation with either Crimson Dawn or Pyke Syndicate, two rival crime syndicates, and has impactful repercussions for whomever the player lets down. There also is a difference in the size of rewards, depending on which syndicate is sided with during gameplay.

The "Passenger" quest involves Vess being sent out to retrieve cargo for the crime syndicate Crimson Dawn, with emphasis on the fact the cargo must not be harmed. The cargo is stolen by pirates before Vess can reach it, but it is also revealed the cargo is a living being. Vess and Nd follow the pirate ship and help break out the prisoner,...

Star Wars Outlaws: Should You Frame The Pykes Or Crimson Dawn In "False Flag"?
Image
"False Flag" is one of the simpler missions in Star Wars Outlaws, at least on paper. Kay Vess is sent on a mission by the crime syndicate Crimson Dawn. She is requested to infiltrate an Imperial ship and erase the Pyke Syndicates debt, thereby framing them for the crime. During the mission, Vesss accomplice Waka presents the option of doing the reverse and framing Crimson Dawn instead, then alerting Pyke Syndicate leader Gorak about the initial plan. Depending on how the player feels, they have the option to frame either once they reach the end of the mission.

Considering reputation is the most important aspect of Star Wars Outlaws, the ending choice of the "False Flag" mission can have a huge impact on gameplay depending on whom the player wants to have a better reputation with one of the crime syndicates. Vess is presented with two options at the end of the mission.

All 12 Star Wars Crime Syndicates Explained
Image
The Star Wars galaxy is full of some very dangerous crime syndicates. Operating across an expansive galaxy-wide underworld, several criminal groups came to power (and thrived during the Imperial Era). At the same time, many of these syndicates were eventually replaced by others heading into the New Republic era and beyond.

Palpatine had his Galactic Empire which allowed him to rule the galaxy for decades. However, the galactic underworld was an entirely different matter. Some syndicates were ruled by those who at times worked with the Imperials, while others made major moves to eliminate not only their rival syndicates, but also the Empire itself. To that end, here's every major crime syndicate in Star Wars' Skywalker saga.

Crimson Dawn Led By Maul, Then Lady Qi'ra

Rising to power just before the end of the Clone Wars, Crimson Dawn was created by the former Darth Maul to serve his interests in the criminal underworld.

5 Stars Wars movies and shows to rewatch if you're enjoying Star Wars Outlaws
Image
The latest Star Wars game is out now, and it brings players to the seedier parts of the galaxy as they bargain with the enforcers of Jabba the Hutt, the spies of Crimson Dawn and more. Made by Massive Entertainment and Assassin's Creed developer Ubisoft, Star Wars Outlaws is the first Star Wars game to be released since Electronic Arts' 10-year exclusivity contract expired. There's been a lot of pressure to see how it performs, and so far the reviews have been mixed.

But damn it, I'm playing this game right now and I'm having a blast with it. You play as Kay Vess, a budding scoundrel who's out to make a name for herself amongst the various gangs vying for power in the Outer Rim. “The definitive best part of the game”: Star Wars Outlaws Wins Our Hearts For Doing Justice to Emilia Clarke’s Star Wars Character From Solo
Image
Star Wars Outlaws has just been released. Fans have been waiting for long for some intergalactic action in the long-hailed franchise, but the game has already stumbled upon its launch. Released on August 30, 2024 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows, the game has been facing some severe criticism.

Lady Qi’ra has made a comeback in the franchise through Star Wars Outlaws. | Credit: CharacTour.

The major reason for this backlash is the abundance of many game-breaking bugs, which have absolutely disrupted the gameplay. Outlaws promised to give a complete Star Wars vibe, and it is doing full justice to its promises as well, just the bugs spoiling the party. However, there is one major aspect of the game that will definitely overcome these backlashes.

How Does Star Wars Outlaws Tie Into The Comics?
Image
Star Wars Outlaws follows an entirely new character in Kay Vess, with a largely original ensemble and story. Still, Massive Entertainment has worked with Lucasfilm to pull from a large pool of other Star Wars media to truly embed it between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Previously, there had been the Shadows of the Empire multimedia event to bridge this gap between films, but since Disney acquired the franchise and made most of the "Expanded Universe" stories non-canon, deeming them "Legends," a new story filling this gap has been told through Marvel's Star Wars comics.

[Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Star Wars Outlaws and the Marvel Comics, War of the Bounty Hunters, Crimson Reign, and Hidden Empire.]

Kay's story takes her across the Outer Rim, dealing with some of the most despicable criminal organizations the galaxy has ever seen. After the events of The Empire Strikes Back, the Rebel Alliance is gaining power and, therefore, has...

Star Wars Outlaws: How To Sneak Into Crimson Dawn's Landing Pad
Image
Although having a good reputation with Crimson Dawn in Star Wars Outlaws means their Mirogana base can be walked into, the center being restricted means players need to sneak into the landing pad area. The trick to this is that there is only one route, but it is very well hidden. Whether you're having to infiltrate the base due to a bad reputation or you're able to walk about normally due to being friends with the syndicate, this will require stealth on some level.

While learning to do this is more difficult than finding out how to lockpick in Star Wars Outlaws, pulling this off is key to certain missions. While you can sneak into the base's vault to steal an Ion Blaster part in "New Tricks" early in the story, getting into the landing pad is also essential for another mission, "The Slicer". If you don't want to decrease your reputation with Crimson Dawn,...
