A TV Show that has potential
Natgambler21 September 2023
I didn't like rebranding it to a movie as it does have lots of gaps that need to be filled in it. But this if this continue as a show. I'm sure it will would keep other sinked in. I loved how Ashley struggles and portrays her pain and her family feeling it all. I loved how they showed the sacrifice and this longing heart. Ashley shows deep dedication to fix in, while non-stop obstacles are thrown at her.

The story does get a little messy without the introduction of who Nick really is to Ashley. As I know the story to it, it didn't potray that. And was she with the red headed man at the time she was with him? There's a few gaps to the story line. But I see lots of potential and some reality pipelinners go through.

For an indie movie, I think this was very well done and thought of. A group of Albertans coming together to try and relate to the oilfield women and men out there. When can we see more of it!

Great to see local artists doing their thing!
chriscarrier-8655521 September 2023
Although not my typical cup of tea, it was entertaining to watch a film made by a local artist in a local setting stepping out with a dream and a desire to do something no one has done before them. My hat is off to the dreamers that dream, but more importantly the ones that actually step in the arena, vs those heckling from the stands.

As with every first effort, there will always be learning opportunities. Jordan got cut from his high school basketball team for a reason...he wasn't good enough to make the cut. PN, in my opinion isn't there yet, BUT with any major victory, there are thousands of setbacks that preceded it. Keep your head up team!

For me; THE PRO's- The cinematography was great. I loved the bar scene and energy displayed. The theme music was awesome.

THE CON's-Storyline was hard to follow. The characters were underdeveloped and the ending left me scratching my head.

With a major undertaking such as this, having a vision of shooting a pilot for a miniseries that morphs into a short movie may have caused some of the challenges. I can imagine it would be very difficult to change the vision after all the footage has been filmed.

53 minutes of your life you will never get back...
binsmasher-926282 May 2023
This is hands down the worst movie I have ever watched to sum it up in one word terrible. It really is 53 minutes of your life you won't get back I'm truly surprised I sat through the entire thing. When you think it can't get any worse it does if I could give it no stars I would . It couldn't be any further from the reality of the pipeline life and does not live up to the hype.....acting is horrendous story line is garbage and just feels slapped together . You almost feel embarrassed for the people in it . Spare yourself and take my word for it this movie isn't worth your time or money . Only good part was uncle hack DC69 BABY.

Made Purely To Pander
austinghpictures26 May 2023
Having followed Pipe Nations production pandemonium, I was very excited to watch it when the series finally premiered. I was disappointed to see that they cut their losses and rebranded it as a movie. It was written to be a series and it shows. It feels extremely directionless, like you are always missing a huge piece of the story, and while the acting showed many moments of special brilliance, the movie overall felt extremally unauthentic, as if the people writing this had never worked in the oilfield. It feels like it was made simply to sell like pro oil propaganda, rather than coming from a place of passion or heartfelt connection to an industry the world seems all to ready to do away with.

Horrible
tyqjxfp13 June 2023
Literally the worst movie ever made. It's a want to be sons of anarchy with hints of oilfield work that really don't apply to the general idea. This literally has NOTHING to do with oilfield other then a couple of shotty brand names deals and hard hats. It's just "biker" dudes doing drugs and partying. It really is sad to see how the director views pipeline workers and over sexualizes the females who work pipeline. Come see Tammy from Nova Scotia she looks nothing like that. The acting is horrible and the flashback scene Ashley has with just repeated previous clips played on her wall is the worst movie stunt I've seen in my life.

Worst Movie Ever
ntgdnps11 May 2023
I'm from Sundre and this "movie" which was suppose to be a series, is the worst representation of it. My friend came up to me and said don't watch it she wasted her time but of course we had to. Of course I had to sit through the whole thing as I was committed. But that's 53 minutes I will never get back. When they talked their mouths weren't matching up. And there was no storyline whatsoever. Just sat there to watch people have conversation, have sex and do drugs I guess. Cause this is what oilfield workers do don't ya know. When we talk to other people how bad it is, they end up watching it and agreeing. All in all don't waste your time on this. Not worth it.

Wish I could give 0 stars, try again "pipe nation"
realreviews22422 January 2024
One review states "time to debunk the oilfield"... yes, by showing every worker does drugs, foreman bangs employees, and all they do is party? This "movie" did nothing to portray the oilfield in a positive light, in fact, the opposite.. Have worked many pipelines, nothing was debunked here. When have protestors ever been permitted to be on site? Never. Paying off the environmental inspector? The EI is usually employed by the prime, nice try! Huge storyline holes, who is Grady? Why does a knockoff Sons of Anarchy character care about a pipeline being finished? No authenticity, radio coms aren't even authentic. Waste of time, poor voice over video editing. "Eckspecially". Own film actor even rated film 7/10. Camera isn't focused. Poor acting. Where is a Sherpa just kept on a pipeline for emergencies when heli can't land? So inauthentic and it blows my mind how hard one actor pushes this film on social media, I'd be embarrassed to be part of oilfield work and stand behind this as a portrayal of his industry.

Loved Pipe Nation
serialjay-8118321 September 2023
Shorter than I thought. Good story line. Great lead characters that you really are easy to like. I'm hoping to see more Pipe Nation if there should be a second season or movie. Seemed very real and the actors and actresses really took the story to places that might hit some viewers. Unhappy homes, spending too much time at work and not balancing family life, getting injured on the job, etc. It's a storyline that is all too common in the oil field. I can say I can personally verify Pipe Nation's authenticity.

Crazy world we live in and Pipe Nation took me on an escape for an hour. I wish the best for all the actors/actresses in their next projects!

STORY TO BE TOLD
corecrossersaints22 September 2023
I finally got to watch pipenation although there's a lot of criticism... the oil & gas sector needs to be spoken about more , I like the concept and where this was heading, pilots are never the best starting off and that goes for all the series we see on TV... I felt the true grit of this show and where it wanted to go. Yes there will be negative feedback it's not everyone's tea. But for me coming from the oilfield this hit home for me in many ways. Whether it makes it or not. I completely got the idea and where they were trying to go with it.

It's time to debunk what people think of the oil industry.

Controversy = entertainment
katrinapatel-1157916 June 2023
Feelings can be hurt or perspectives will be challenged. The topic and personification of oil and gas is controversial. Welcome to Alberta where cowboys are still real and resources are exploited (according to some). I love that this was filmed and produced locally with real Albertans and their variety of talent. If you're not expecting some high budget Hollywood movie then you will enjoy this gritty rendition of front line oil and gas / pipeline life. You can tell there is more to this controversy and you'll be wanting to know what really lies beneath... hint: it's not all sex, drugs and laying pipe!

Exceptional cinematography
pilzjohn21 September 2023
"Pipe Nation" is a captivating tale set against the backdrop of Alberta's breathtaking landscapes, featuring exceptional cinematography and a wealth of exhilarating action sequences. It's truly impressive what has been accomplished with what I believe are primarily amateur actors and without the extravagant budgets typically associated with Hollywood productions. Id love to see this transformed into a series, as I believe that was the original intent. I'm excited to witness what this talented group will produce next. It's fantastic to see shows like these being created locally with homegrown talent.
