Ion Fist
A_Kind_Of_CineMagic20 April 2020
This features Count Dooku and General Grievous using their new weapon, an ion cannon to cripple and destroy Republic ships and the efforts of Plo Koon to escape to warn the Jedi Council. Anakin and Ahsoka come to the rescue.

There is one scene that I thought could have been done better as a ship flies in a straight line followed closely by the ion blast which had been fired at them. I find myself wondering why they did not dodge to the side to avoid the blast before escaping. Other than that this is a solid and enjoyable episode.

We get interesting scenes and nice moments of dialogue as well as a bit of space battle action.

This is not a top episode but is a decent adventure.

My rating: 7.5/10.

Lots of callbacks to The Empire Strikes Back.

Warning: Spoilers
The moment where Plo Koon/Ahsoka do the telepathy thing called back to Leia/Luke in Empire. The rash, daring rescue was also reminiscent of Luke going after Han and Leia. The appearance of the medical droid capped it off. I liked this one very much. The Battle droids can be a bit grating, but the stuff with the clones and Koon in the escape pod was well done. Stupid that characters can talk/make sound in space.

Rising Malevolence

Though I do like my "stranded-in-space" storylines, and love my Plo Koon, this was not the episode that I had hoped to see. As a part of a larger story arc, it might give a little breathing room before the big fights to come, but as a single episode, it lacks intrigue. It has minimal action, but it does not manage to find another way to hook the audience. Had the character in peril been a more popular one than Plo Koon, I think there could have been an argument to be made. I do like that the show puts a lot of focus on the clones and makes them real characters, instead of just expendable soldiers. Knowing what comes next, I think I am being kinder on this episode than I should be, but as part of a bigger arc, the episode has more profound impact. Still, not one of the best the show has to offer.

Too Many Mistakes

I'm sorry but I can't go any further, this show contains too many inaccuracies and I'm not okay with it. But I think that kids can enjoy it.

Decent episode

Warning: Spoilers
Meh. It's not bad, but it's not great either, it's just okay. The story is decent, it's cool to be introduced to Ahsoka and to see General Grievous again, but I was sometimes a little bored during the scenes where Plo Koon and the clones were stuck in that ship in space, it felt a little repetitive. However, it was really cool to see Grievous and Count Dooku interact with each other (they're really funny sometimes, especially Grievous). So it's an overall decent episode, but could've been much better and a lot of other episodes of the show have been much better later on. I'm just not a big fan of the beginning of this show.
