I'm hoping for many more seasons!!!

Phenomenal series!!! If you're a fan of the supernatural you'll have to watch this. The show is an emotional roller-coaster as you come to know the individual "dead" characters. While you will hope for their killers to be caught and their bodies to be found, you will feel heart broken when it happens. I wasn't sure where they would go for Season 2, after the way Season 1 ended, but they pulled it off. It turned out just as good as season 1. If anything, Season 2 was probably even a little bit more mysterious but no less enjoyable. In addition to a great story, the show is filmed beautifully and has gorgeous nature shots and scenery. I am hoping for many more.

Great Drama. One of the best drama in 2020!!!

Warning: Spoilers
This drama is so underrated. To be honest, I was expecting much when I start watching this drama. The first few episodes was a bit confusing and boring. I was glad that I kept on watching despite my doubt. Trust me, it gets better as the story unfolds. It kind of took me by surprised. I wasn't expecting a warm heart broken story like this one. Make sure you have some tissues beside you as the story come to an end. I like the fact that the story didn't lag and go on forever. The length of the drama was perfect. No downtime. Overall, I think the story and actor are amazing. Especially Ha-Joon and Seo Eun-Su. They were able to show and demonstrate the emotions of their characters so well. In fact, I was hoping for a happy ending for Joon-Ho and Yeo-Na, but I guess that's a bit stretching. Anyway, I hope they'll make a second season. Enjoy.

From the other side is a great idea

Loved season one 10/10 scenary, story line, emotions were all on point.

Season too, I get it, you lost a daughter stop brooding all over through the seasons. The old man in this season was exhausting to watch, looking miserable and really not helping to find anyone, fifthe episode of 2nd season, I just forward his scenes. Jeez men, move on, honour your baby with finding all the other babies stuck there.... The script writer lost it on the old man in this season.

Wook and the rest are brilliant as usual.

The usual Korean threatening faces and boastful walks and eishhhhhh and it's driving me crazy hahaha.

Great story all in all.

Cherish Your Loved Ones In Life While You Have The Chance!
spasek24 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, before I begin this review, I need to make a recommendation for anyone who hasn't seen this series yet: get a box of tissues. You're going to need it.

"Missing The Other Side" brings a unique concept for this story. There is a staging area. A village that exists for people who have died but whose bodies have not been recovered. It doesn't really matter what your beliefs are, you simply have to just go with it. If you do that, you won't be disappointed, as this is one of the most beautiful, heartwarming stories I've ever seen. I had no idea that so many heartfelt moments would be in a 12-episode series.

Anyone who has experienced the death of a loved one, is likely to relate on some level. And even if you haven't, you'll very likely still feel touched by how the story-but most especially-how the relationships unfold between those living and those who have passed on.

The series is about a con man in Kim Wook, wonderfully played by Go Soo, who surreptitiously finds himself the unwitting witness of a woman who is being kidnapped. He soon finds himself the target of the kidnappers, and after a lengthy chase, he finds himself in a world he couldn't possibly imagine. A village where the dead live until their bodies are found. Of course, he has no idea why he can see, hear, touch, and communicate with them. The only other living person with this ability is Mr. Jang, a lonely man who has essentially stopped living due to the disappearance of his little girl years ago.

Detective Shin is brought on board, initially to investigate a construction company that seems to be tied to a series of deaths, both from the past as well as the present. Believing his fiancée to have dumped him, he quickly finds that she was the woman being kidnapped that was witnessed by Kim Wook. Unfortunately, we find out that his fiancée, Yeo Na Choi has been murdered, as she is the most recent addition to the village.

We also discover that there is a conspiracy tied to the construction company, and that there is someone else masterminding the disappearances, as well as the deaths, of so many people, including Kim Wook's own mother, whom he thought had abandoned him years ago. However, after seeing the locket on a village woman, Kim Hyun Mi, we quickly discover--as does Kim Wook--that she is his mother. At first, Kim Wook doesn't understand, as he's filled with resentment regarding his mother.

The interaction between Kim Wook and the villagers is nothing short of pure sweetness, as he finally finds a true purpose in life. The villagers are unable to leave the village until their bodies are found, and Kim Wook decides to help Mr. Jang do so. While Mr. Jang is still trying to find out what happened to his daughter, Kim Wook is also trying to discover who killed Yeo Na Choi as well as his co-worker Kim Nam Gook.

Some of the most powerful and profound interactions I've seen are scenes between Yeo Na Choi and Detective Shin as each--separated by death's veil--speak to each other but cannot see or hear each other. The amount of emotion that pours from their hearts and souls is beyond touching. It is something altogether more ethereal, soul-felt, and poignant that will have you grasping quickly for those tissues! That same is also conveyed between Kim Wook and his mother as each pours their heart out to the other. And while there is no interaction between Mr. Jang and his daughter, we feel his pain as he cries out in vain-at last finding some measure of closure-even if it isn't what he'd hoped for.

I am constantly amazed at how Korean actors can emote so easily and deftly. They are able to help us feel those deeper emotions through sobbing, as though their hearts are being torn open. When I lost my father in an accident when I was just nineteen, I suffered unimaginable heartbreak as though my whole world had been shattered. These actors and actresses are somehow able to tap into that emotional level. And I don't think it is as easy to do as people might think because I've rarely seen it done in western movies and shows. I think there is something that makes those actors hold back just a little. This entire cast is to be commended for such deep, complex, and profound performances!

I can't remember ever watching a series--aside from the classic show, Highway to Heaven--that had me tearing up as much as this one did. The story is compelling and enthralling as it is as much a mystery as it is in delving into what might be waiting on "the other side."

It's hard to feel grief when you know your loved ones are safe and well. Perhaps not in a way that we understand, but it still brings about some closure. More than that, you can't help feeling happy for each member of the village as they move on to another realm of existence as soon as their bodies are found. If only we had such clarity of knowledge when our loved ones do pass, it would perhaps make the grieving process a bit more bearable.

It has always been hard for me to watch movies and shows where children and women are victims of horrible crimes. It breaks my heart. As a TEFL teacher, I don't even want to think of something like that ever happening to one of my students.

This series is nothing short of a work of pure art. Pure beauty. And perhaps also, pure hope. Hope that there is healing for those who remain behind as well as for those who have moved on. Perhaps the lesson here is to cherish those closest to us in life so that we may then cherish them in death. Don't waste a single moment to let your family and friends know how much you love and care of them. After all, there are only so many tomorrows, and you don't want to end up wishing that you could have said something when you had the chance. Let them know. Let them know now.

Beautifully written

A ghost show but not scary show. This make you smile. The whole cast is soo good and I liked each and every character. For me it was beautiful imagination of the writer. A missing dead people staying in mysterious village until someone found the body. And two main character can see them and help them. That was really a good imagination. I liked second season as well hopefully we can get the third season also It will be amazing. Unfortunately this kind of drama doesn't get recongnization from the people because there is no hot actor in the series according to them and no kissing scenes so they won't even tried to watch it.

Refreshing
gillzer019 June 2023
It's an amazing concept. Watched the first season on Netflix and waiting for the more seasons to come. I really loved Mr. Jang's character, what a beautiful way to portray for father's endless love and their quest. It's a breath of fresh air when you see most of the K-dramas revolve around some sort of a love story. Although this too has bit n pieces of love story, but that's not all of it, which is the thing to love about this show. Highly recommend it.

There were some characters which did not make any sense at all. They were there for one or two episodes with no real need or justification, for instance Jong Ah's friend. But other than that it was a smooth ride.

Great idea but too slow
Glue2Screen18 February 2023
Missing: The Other Side is similarly in concept to Hotel Del Luna., (which I absolutely loved). I really wanted to like this series, it had all the potential of a great series: ghosts, crime, mystery and hidden identity. However, the slower pace, drawn out plots, predictable character arcs and incoherent character stories lost a lot of points for me.

Missing became extremely dragging midpoint and some story points became fairly illogical (ie. Antagonist had the option to follow main character, choses not to but still ends up trying to trick him into a trap). These odd decisions leads the viewers in a long-winded route just to get back to the same spot.

The acting is great was the cast but the writing for the characters weren't as captivating as there was a lack of indepth development. Most of the character's main goal remains the same throughout and their decisions are made to prolong the series rather than logical.

There are many heartfelt moments in the series as certain characters moves on, but these moments were either dragged out or not developed enough.

If it had slightly faster pacing or less episode, it would have worked better.

The ending ruined what would have been a perfect rating for this series.
kmhlbeavis26 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It all begins with a con artist who witnesses a kidnapping and then they chase him until he falls off I guess a cliff. He lands then is rescued by an old man and then he starts to see people that others cannot see. This is the introduction to the series which is well detailed. It also explains how these people got there and the purpose of the old man and eventually him. Later on his friend gets killed by these same people who kidnapped the woman and tried to kill him. Along with the last member the other woman and the old man they now team up to stop the evil doers and solve all the missing persons cases. The conclusion was pretty detailed and complete when at the very end they show these kids going through another portal which means there are more missing people. Why did they do this . What a way to ruin a perfectly good series we don't need another season please.

Roller coaster of emotional ride, familiar plot & beautiful scenes
sisubalan20 October 2022
Not bad. Great storyline something similar that ive crossed with multiple times especially on animes and other series that i cant think of the name, but definitely familiar. Great line of casts although im not familiar with not even of them. Beautiful sceneries and really great graphics. Looks every clean and tone of the series was very bright and cheerful despite having a depressing/sad plot. Average sound scores, nothing extraordinary (exception on emotional moments - very moving sounds). A huge fan of the natural sceneries. Very emotional, suspenseful/mysyery and great drama for the fantasy loving audiences. Highly recommended.

I'm pleased Thomas was found

Warning: Spoilers
A kind heart con artist falls of a cliff whilst being pursued by a gang of criminals he has duped. When he regains consciousness he finds himself in a village where the spirits of the dead whose bodies have not been found dwell. He then sets out alongside the person who brought him to the village to discover the resting places of the deceased and who murdered them. I thought it was a very clever concept and the actors all did a good job and some of the stories were really interesting. I was a little disappointed as on occasions it seemed to drag and I would have liked more character development with coverage of the main casts back stories.

MISSING: THE OTHER SIDE OR WAS IT THE FLIP SIDE
stan_gee19 October 2022
I watched all 12 episodes on Netflix today, this is typical Korean TV or Movie Drama, where everyone cries throughout the series, the Men cry, the women cry, the children cry, everything and everybody cries but the dog, or maybe it was crying to, it's in almost every scene, after a while all that crying gets to be down right annoying, there's not that much drama in world. Aside from the tears and the bellyaching over any and everything, the series was worth watching, the plot was sound, the special effects they used on the ghost sequences was interesting. The acting for the most part was believable. Don't see why they would want to make a second season, all the fine points of this one was solved, there was nothing left. Please don't go back and rehash old plot lines. Let it stay missing, on the other side. If you are wondering if you should watch it, I say ... yeah, give it a try, if you'll not hooked by the third episode, then this series isn't for you, don't worry about bringing tissues, just mute the sound when all the crying start, it does tend to get on your nerves.
