Irresistible romantic charmer
phoenixfrosty8 June 2021
Yu Long (aka Miss the Dragon) is about dragon king Yuchi Longyan (Dylan Wang) who falls in love with mortal girl Liuying (Xudan Zhu) and sets out to protect her through four lifetimes. It might not have the best writing, direction, cgi and acting, but the sweet romance between the leads is irresistibly charming. The second couple is also delightful.

At times funny and sometimes heartbreaking, it is generally lighthearted, a refreshing break from heavy and tiresome dramas laden with intrigues and misunderstandings. It portrays the first blush of pure, innocent and unselfish love, untainted by jaded and toxic emotions that try to depict love in heavier dramas. The earnest desire of Yuchi Longyan to love and protect Liuying and her reincarnations is enchanting. Who can resist a supremely handsome and faithful dragon king who believes that "Love is not icing on the cake but sharing weal and woe; it's not selfish possession but long-term protection"?

Gets more interesting
honeytreetot20 January 2023
I watched this after watching Love Between Fairy and Devil, which was epic. These are the only two c-dramas I've ever seen. They were strangely similar, the exact same tropes expressed in the exact same way, but Yu Long was like a very very rough draft of Fairy/Devil. The first couple of episodes were laughably bad - the acting wooden, the chemistry between the romantic pair nonexistent, and the makeup lines on their faces visible. But they started to warm up; and half way through, it was like they changed director and writer. The show becomes engaging. I would like to know what happened during the making of this series, how they turned the ship around and if someone said 'we could make this good' and then went on to do Love Between Fairy and Devil.

Same Story Told 3 Times
nishera18 March 2022
If your first thought when reading the synopsis is that a story about 3-lifetimes of (mostly) unrequited love sounds tragic, tedious, and mono-chromatic, then you're exactly right. Admittedly the cast and filmography are gorgeous, and each of the FL's incarnations were moderately interesting, but it was hard to care when the main plotline (the love story) just kept repeating. Eventually there is progress and some resolution, but 75% of the story feels like you've already been there, done that. On top of that, although there are several prolonged kiss scenes, it's hard to sense much passion, so that's kind of a let-down too. In short, I'm sure there are plenty of folks this type of story would appeal to - I myself just don't happen to be one of them.

Felt like this was the first drama Dylan Wang made
magnoliacream12 September 2022
'Been wondering whether this drama was the first one Dylan made, albeit shown later, as he seemed like a newbie here. He is much better in Meteor Garden. Or perhaps it was because it was his first fantasy drama? His movements were sometimes not in sync with the special effects, though that would not have been his fault but whoever had the job of synchronizing actors' movements with special effects. Apparently, this is a low-budget drama and it shows.

Having said that, despite the less than stellar quality of the drama, I was able to finish it, thanks in large part to Dylan's mesmerizing presence. Once he is onscreen, you just want to keep watching.

The story of a dragon king's first and eternal love spanning his beloved's four lives, the romance is so sweet and pure even holding hands becomes exciting.

I watched this for Dylan Wang

Warning: Spoilers
I originally only began this series for Dylan Wang. After watching LBADAF like 30x I needed more DW.

The drama started out strong and I loved the whole premise of the story and I like how they incorporated the second relationship into the drama and throughout the drama. I honestly think I enjoyed the second relationship almost as much as the main!!! Both relationships were so different but both made me excited for the other as well.

It was sweet that the second female lead cared and loved the main female lead as a sister / best friend.

I honestly think the ending was tragic and should have ended another way because after going through THREE life times and not being able to be together and still have the way it ended? That's so sad...... I think that's why I give it a 7. It had 10/10 potential but it just didn't get there for me. Even the second main leads had a better ending lol that's sad.

Long and tedious
vandyslobo7 October 2022
This drama is excruciatingly slow and repetitive with a microseconds of humor here and there. Perhaps its the character dragon (dylan wang) who is suppose to act cool and emotionless most of the time... makes it hard to find a romantic chemistry between the 2 leads. The story spanning 4 life times was very redundant. Was expecting new and exciting, full of action packed stories from each of the lifetimes but sadly every lifetime was almost the same as one another. This drama fell short in my books. Still struggling to finish the last 3 episodes. This drama compared to Love between fairy and devil is night and day. With Love Between Fairy And Devil I binged watch because it was so good. This one.....Im almost calling it quits but feel obligated to finish it since I have already invested so much time into it. Another thing that turned me off about this drama is the soundtrack....its horrible. Music is suppose to bring out certain emotions during certain scenes, but i find I have to turn it down when the music starts playing because it is really that annoying.

Dragging along
dark_rose24126 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I strongly believe that condensing the series to 20 episodes from the original 36 would have greatly improved its quality. While each character led intricate lives, the connection between them felt lacking. Surprisingly, the second lead couple's storyline was more emotionally engaging than the main one.

Dylan's first TV series, 'Love Between a Fairy and a Devil,' set a high standard, which unfortunately none of his subsequent works (that I have watched) matched.

Despite the protagonist's numerous hardships across multiple lifetimes, the emotional impact of their separation failed to resonate with me. Dylan's performance also left something to be desired, with minimal emotional depth in his scenes.

The rushed ending was a letdown after 34 episodes of anticipation, failing to provide the closure I expected. Additionally, the lack of buildup and resolution regarding the heavens' punishment disappointed me.

Overall, I had hoped for more from the series, understanding that each CDrama has its unique plot and production team. While I don't expect a repeat of the same story, I did anticipate a more satisfying experience. However, these are my personal observations and preferences.
