The title comes from Prospero's speech in Act 5, Scene 1 of The Tempest by William Shakespeare. The full quote is 'Set roaring war to th'dread rattlin' thunder.'
The script was written only when the theatre location's block availability was confirmed. Conceived with direct consideration of the Summer 2020 lockdown scenario, casting followed days after script completion and less than two weeks before filming commenced.
To simplify a carefully structured filming week and keep extraneous cast and crew to a minimum, Al Carretta shot 5 of the 7 filming days solo. Regular assistant director, Brett Thorne came in for 2 days of the more complicated set-ups.
Shot and edited in lockdown under UK filming guidelines/restrictions on a 7 day block shoot at the end of June 2020.
