The 10 Best Classic Episodes Of Family Guy, Ranked
Image
For more than 25 years now, "Family Guy" has been an absolute staple of the television landscape. While it may have once been viewed as a lesser competitor that was living in the shadow of shows like "The Simpsons" and "South Park," it has now firmly earned its place as one of the greatest, longest-running adult animated comedies in history. Much like "Futurama," it also managed to survive being canceled multiple times. Set MacFarlane's wack Rhode Island family known as the Griffins has achieved pop cultural immortality.

But what are the very best episodes of "Family Guy" 25 years in? At this point, that's a tough question to answer given that we're sitting at more than 400 episodes, and MacFarlane has no plans to end the show any time soon. A simpler (albeit still difficult) question is to look at the show's classic era and determine the best episodes from the show's early run.

10 Best Eras for the Predator Franchise to Visit
Image
The Predator franchise reached new heights with the 2022 Hulu movie Prey, pitting a primitive incarnation of the alien hunter up against a young Comanche hunter in training, played by Amber Midthunder. The success of depicting a Predator in the Great Plains in 1719 makes it apparent that future sequels should follow suit. The key to any hit franchise's longevity is the ability to reinvent itself with genre.

Focusing on human protagonists from diverse backgrounds throughout history can help inform the subgenre of each sequel and find a suitable contender for a Predator. This new formula may reduce the franchise to a science fiction narrative rendition of Deadliest Warrior or, if left in the right hands, like those of Prey director Dan Trachtenberg, can elevate a hardened 80s action classic.

Sharon Levy Upped to CEO of Endemol Shine North America
Sharon Levy
Sharon Levy has been elevated to chief executive officer of Endemol Shine North America, the Banijay-owned studio behind the Emmy Award-nominated “Lego Masters,” “MasterChef,” “Wipeout” and upcoming Showtime series “Ripley,” starring Andrew Scott.

The announcement was made on Thursday by Ben Samek, CEO of Banijay Americas, as Endemol shifts from being a holding company to an independent production studio alongside the nine other Banijay-owned studios.

In her new role, Levy, who previously served as chief content officer since 2021, will manage all aspects of the business and its growth. She will also continue to lead all of the studio’s unscripted and scripted programming efforts from the company’s North Hollywood headquarters.

Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead (2010)
The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 11 Review: Morning Star
Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead (2010)
This The Walking Dead review contains spoilers.

The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 11

One of the best episodes of the last season of Game of Thrones didn’t have anyone raise a sword in anger. There were no White Walkers, no dragons, no army of the dead, and no Long Night. It was the pre-battle episode, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.” Everyone knows that the dead are coming, everyone’s already gotten battle preparations out of the way, and all that’s left is to wait and spend a little time with one another, making sure that if/when death comes, there will be nothing left unsaid.

The battle preparations are a little less intensive in The Walking Dead season 10, episode 11 “Morning Star,” but the feeling is not dissimilar to that of Game of Thrones, except that perhaps the combat is a little more skillfully executed and makes better use...

‘Lego Masters’ Gives Endemol Shine’s Sharon Levy Another Win
Will Arnett in Lego Masters (2020)
Sharon Levy is on a roll. For two years in a row, Endemol Shine North America — where Levy serves as president of unscripted and scripted programming — has been a part of the top-rated new show in primetime.

This year, it’s “Lego Masters,” which is averaging a 2.1 rating among adults 18-49 in Live+7 ratings. Last year, it was “The Masked Singer,” the top-rated reality show of the last seven years. (Both shows air on Fox; Endemol Shine is no longer involved in “Masked Singer.”) Besides “Lego Masters,” in recent weeks Endemol Shine has also produced revivals of two major unscripted franchises: “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” for Hgtv and “The Biggest Loser” at USA.

“Overall it’s been a really rewarding two years,” said Levy, who arrived at Endemol Shine in 2017 after 12 years at Spike TV (which was later morphed into Paramount Network).

Levy had been head of original series at Spike,...

Latest For Honor Trailer Spotlights The Vicious Oni Samurai
While it may not have carried the same popularity of the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands reveal, the introduction of For Honor at Ubisoft’s E3 showing was one to remember. The debut trailer for the multiplayer brawler showcased a heavy dose of impressive historical action, and although the studio still isn’t ready to talk full details on the title, they have debuted a new trailer spotlighting a unique hero.

Revealed during Sony’s Tokyo Game Show press conference earlier today, the Oni is the first official combat class showcased for the Samurai faction. Outfitted with a handful of different skills, including his signature Japanese katana, the Oni is poised to be one of the strongest fighters on the battlefield of For Honor.

Ubisoft further detailed just what the warrior brings to the table in a brief statement.

The Oni is a swift and lethal duelist who slays...

Chivalry: Deadliest Warrior Adds Samurais And Spartans To The Mix
I was really hesitant to post this article. Not because I didn’t think it was worth reporting, but I was having a hard time believing this was real. I was convinced it was either an elaborate troll or I had taken too much flu medication. However, Chivalry: Deadliest Warrior is a real thing, and it may be my favorite thing to happen this week.

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is undoubtedly the best first-person-hack-and-slash game on the market, but I have to admit it was starting to get a bit stale playing through the same types of battles. It seems that Torn Banner Studios knew about this, and decided to upgrade it in the most ludicrous way possible: by teaming up with the guys from Spike TV and including samurais and Spartan warriors. Four more bands of warriors have yet to be revealed, and as someone who watched way more of...

The Ten Best – Mma fighters turned actors
The blokes who flex their muscles in Ultimate Fighting Championship and mixed martial arts events are mostly a larger-than-life blend of showmanship and brawn – which explains why they’re increasingly being snapped up by Hollywood. With more and more Mma fighters moving into the movies, I thought I’d take a look at some of the biggest names to have made the crossover.

Tony Schiena

Winner of numerous Mma trophies around the globe, Schiena flexed his acting chops in Locked Down as a framed cop who winds up in jail and is forced into cage fighting by none other than Brit hardman turned thesp Vinnie Jones. Schiena retired from sport after breaking both his ankles (ouch!) but has since found his feet on the big screen working with everyone from Pacino to Van Damme.

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson

Famed for fierce body slams that won him the Ufc light heavyweight title...

The Batman vs. Wolverine Movie You’ve Been Waiting For…
Well, sort of. Aaron and Sean Schoenke are the producers/directors of a series of fanmade short films that pits various superheroes from disparate franchises against one another. Basically, “The Deadliest Warrior” on a budget, but minus all those ridiculous comparisons like what would happen if a dude with a sword went up against a dude with a gun. Duh. In any case, “The Deadliest Warrior” has gotten incredibly dumb lately, so it’s about time someone replace them anyway. Here’s the official premise of Super Power Beat Down: The concept of the Spbd web series is to take two super powered legends and make them battle! Every month we will release a new episode, where viewers will be able to vote to determine the winner. The show is hosted by Marisha Ray, with two debaters, Damian Beurer and Andy Liegl. 'Goliath' Writers Hired To Write 'Boilerplate'
In July of last year, J.J. Abrams picked up the rights to “Boilerplate,” and now his company Bad Robot — along with Paramount Pictures, which is producing — has hired the necessary writers to take the next step forward.

According to Deadline, Patrick McKay and Jd Payne have been tapped for the job. They’re the same writers behind “Goliath,” a movie in the works that’s based on the story of David and Goliath that’s being compared to “300.” In addition to that, they’re working on a movie adaptation of Spike TV’s “Deadliest Warrior.”

“Boilerplate: History’s Mechanical Marvel,” comes from the talents of Paul Guinan and Anina Bennett and is about a robot designed to fight as a soldier. He was created in the late 1800s and fought alongside Lawrence of Arabia and Teddy Roosevelt, and also got to know famous people like author Mark Twain. You...

Boilerplate Gets Writers Jd Payne and Patrick McKay
Producer J.J. Abrams has hired writers Jd Payne and Patrick McKay to adapt Boilerplate for Bad Robot Productions. We first reported on this project last June, when J.J. Abrams acquired the graphic novel by Paul Guinan and Anina Bennett.

The story centers on a fictional version of the world's first robot, which was built in the early 19th Century to replace men on the battlefield. The robot is shown fighting alongside Teddy Roosevelt and it even worked in the silent film industry in the early 20th century. Our initial report revealed the character was created after Paul Guinan pitched the idea on a website, and people actually started to believe this tale was real.

J.J. Abrams will produce Boilerplate for Bad Robot, alongside Outlaw Productions' Deborah Jelin Newmyer. No production schedule was released for Boilerplate.

Jd Payne and Patrick McKay are currently writing Deadliest Warrior, a movie adaptation of the...

Paramount and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Set Writers for Boilerplate
Paramount and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot have settled on a couple of screenwriters to pen their adaptation of the graphic novel-picture book Boilerplate: History’s Mechanical Marvel. Deadline reports that Jd Payne and Patrick McKay will handle scripting duties for the pic, which takes place in the late 19th and early 20th century and tells the story of the world’s first robot who “fought alongside Terry Roosevelt and Lawrence of Arabia, journeyed to the South Pole and was involved in the silent movie business before disappearing on the battlefields of World War I.” The idea for the story is fantastic, and hopefully Abrams and Co. can pull off an equally fascinating feature film. Payne and McKay have yet to have one of their scripts produced, but they wrote the Goliath pic that Relativity is developing (and may or may not star Dwayne Johnson and Taylor Lautner), and are...

Deadliest Warriors and Testing the Supernatural: A Television Review ("Vampires vs. Zombies")
Air Date: September 14th.

Spike TV's "Deadliest Warriors" tackled the supernatural in its third season finale a few nights ago. The modern cinematic vampire and zombie faced off against one another and the odds were nearly even when the combat data was entered into the battle simulator. The method of destruction: who has the strongest bite and how effective can they use their hands? These beasts can either claw or tear victims apart.

With a guest panel that included Steve Niles (30 Days of Night), Scott Bowen (Vampire Survival Guide), Max Brooks (World War Z), and Matt Mogk (Zombie Research Society) to give their input in what these 20th Century counterparts are like. This battle is one that won't necessarily see a cinematic adaptation either. At best, all audiences will ever see is Aliens versus Predators.

As interesting as this episode was in putting two of the supernatural world's heavyweights against one another,...

Exclusive: Max Brooks on 'Deadliest Warrior: Vampires Vs. Zombies' and 'The Extinction Parade'
Max Brooks
If there's someone left in this world who loves zombies and hasn't read the work of Max Brooks, they're officially advised to get themselves to a bookstore. Brooks' World War Z has so many admirers it's being turned into a film starring Brad Pitt, his Zombie Survival Guide and Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks are also well worth your time. These days, in addition to his non-horror projects (like his recent G.I. Joe comic book title for Idw), Brooks is continuing to spread the zombie love by devloping his next comic series, The Extinction Parade, which like his upcoming appearance on Deadliest Warrior, will deal with a grudge match that all fans of the undead are sure...

The second season premiere of "Outrageous Kid Parties" is on TLC tonight and I've always hated the whole concept of expensive overdone parties for kids under the age of ten. Most of them are mentally and physically exhausted after about two hours and god forbid you drop a huge chunk of cash on a day long petting zoo rental only to have the birthday boy or girl collapse into a tantrum half way through. But my feelings may also stem from the fact that I barely remember most of my childhood birthdays beyond getting cake so I'm really glad my parents got all the decorations from Oriental Trading Company and the cake from Baskin Robbins so I don't have to feel guilty about the fact that all the parties run together in my mind. Here's your Wednesday night TV:

Brad Pitt in Guerra mundial Z (2013)
Exclusive: Max Brooks on 'World War Z' Movie, 'The Extinction Parade' and 'Deadliest Warrior: Vampire Vs. Zombies'
Brad Pitt in Guerra mundial Z (2013)
At last month's Comic-Con, I had the opportunity to chat with one of my favorite horror writers working today -- World War Z author Max Brooks. Brooks appeared alongside fellow writer Steve Niles on the Deadliest Warrior: Vampire Vs. Zombies panel to discuss the upcoming episode of the hit cable show in which each of them will champion the monster with which they're most  closely associated. After the panel, I chatted with Brooks about just why he thinks zombies are more deadly than vampires, as well as his upcoming comic-book adaptation/expansion of his vampires vs. zombies short story "The Extinction Parade", and of course the film adaptation of his bestseller World War Z. Check out my...

One of the joys of working on the internet is, of course, your complete and utter helplessness when your equipment decides that it wants to be a bastard. Oh, sure, your computer will tell you that you've got full wireless signal and the modem will have all the little lights on saying that the internet is connected and wireless is working but does that mean you can actually access any websites? No. No it does not. And as satisfying as it would be to throw all those little gadgets that smirk at you with their little Led indicator lights across the room, you know you can't because that will just make the whole situation worse, somehow. And when you finally figure out the right combination of cords and switching it off for 30 seconds and turning it back on to make everything work, it makes even less sense which just aggravates you more.

Tonight, Discovery seems to be airing a non-Shark Week themed show since "One Man Army" is airing at its usual time. I've checked the episode description and nowhere does it mention Anything about sharks so that's frustrating and confusing. They've managed to make episodes of "Mythbusters" and "Dirty Jobs" that were Shark Week themed so I don't know why they can't just do that for all shows that air during Shark Week. And since the same company owns TLC and Discovery channel maybe they could send a few sharks over to "Toddlers and Tiaras" to get these parents to have a little perspective. "What's that? Your little girl doesn't like it when you bleach her hair because it burns? That's a shame. We've got someone to help you deal with those feelings. Actually, several someones. Or somethings. We call the big one Bitey." Here's your Wednesday night TV:

'Deadliest Warrior' Brings the Battle Live on Aug. 3
Who would win in a fight -- a pirate or a ninja?

Thanks to the science and CGI technology employed on Spike TV's "Deadliest Warrior," you can actually watch them do battle and find out.

The show analyzes historical and modern warriors and their weapons, creating a head-to-head fight between two legends of the battlefield to determine which one reigns supreme.

Fans got a special treat at the San Diego Comic-Con as the "Deadliest Warrior" panel presented the ultimate battle between Vampires and Zombies. Might the show have found the perfect matchup in transitioning from television to the big screen...? We'll have to wait and see, as the premise of the upcoming "Deadliest Warrior" movie that Shawn Levy ("Night at the Museum," "Real Steel") may be directing for Paramount is currently being kept under wraps.

Meanwhile, "Deadliest Warrior" on the small screen is preparing for its first-ever live episode,...

"Deadliest Warrior" Doc -- Saves a Life, Poses for a Pic
" Deadliest Warrior " star Dr. Armand Dorian recently saved the life of a 14-year old boy -- who was such a big fan of the show ... he was more interested in getting a photo with the doc than his injury. Dr. Dorian is still a practicing doctor, serving as the Chief of Development and Director of the Emergency Department at a hospital in Los Angeles. Over here in Rusty-land it's one of those Wednesday that seems to be taking forever but at the same time every so often I'll look up at the clock and be like "wait, it's what time now? Crap." I find this to be a particular problem with Wednesdays, perhaps because of the transition from first half of the week to second half of the week at least if you're going by the standard Monday to Friday week schedule. Although perhaps I should be more upbeat since according to today's xkcd Wednesday is frequently Ladies' night. Oh, right, there's also some television going on. A few of those reality series that some of you adore, so that's cool. So, here's your Wednesday night TV, which will be on both forever from now and sooner than I think it will:
