Genre cinema made in Germany

In a cinematic landscape, that is nationally dominated by always similar crime thrillers and comedies, directors Korenchuk and Pilarski's debut feature comes with a delightfully refreshing elevated genre mix.

In doing so, the filmmakers explore profound themes of romance - fitting for the 19th century setting. In a world that is already measured and standardized, and where people become commodities: How is it possible to see this world once again with new eyes? Can imagination alone give birth to a new world?

Idilia (played magnificently by Lea van Acken) finds herself in the dungeon of a mysterious castle. She is injured and has lost her memory. She faces a fight for survival: She must find a way out of this castle. At the same time, scraps of pages from her diary help her remember, piece by piece, how she got into this situation. Who is this attractive worker (Eric Kabongo) she keeps remembering? And what role does the showman Franz Hagerberg (André Hennicke) play?

"4 Days to Eternity" is an entertaining and inspiring genre film that contributes profitably to the German cinema season.
