Family Sunday.
faer_kr20 March 2021
A Mexican drama that can easily be passed off as a generic formula rom-com but without comedic moments. It is about a man who reconnects with a girl from the past and they start to leave her, but she does not tolerate children and he does not know how to tell her that she has a daughter. Only two or three moments are sitcoms. Parsimonious. Too long at the end, they put things to make it arrive in an hour and a half. Decent performances and in place. The story is so implausible. A film where the anti value as the lie is highlighted and accepted by all. The generic rom-com formula with a predictable ending. No sexual scenes and little vulgarity. Family Sunday.

A great mediocrity

The actors are decent, although this does not save the plot, which is very mediocre and predictable to the fullest.

Insipid romance

There's no chemistry between the main characters, the reason or the emotions that their actions are based on, are not clear, at all; I ignore if it's because of the abysmal acting or the editing was poorly made. Zero personality for the main characters. You could've put aliens or dogs or any other actor and it wouldn't have made a difference to the movie, the acting, the dialogue and their traits as characters were nowhere to be seen.

2nd thing that is also irrelevant in the movie, is the family story that the male character has, there's no point for the viewer to know about his grandfather or his dad; the father has no use in the story, if you skip or miss his scenes, you wouldn't have missed anything. It didn't help the story. Are you trying to get the viewer to sympathize with the main character, do you want to make a point about how the main character's personality and goals are to cherish his family and be his priority? If so, then you need to make that clearer.

Overall, this movie is that kind of a movie that doesn't portray feelings, reasons or circumstances too well, although the plot is almost nonexistent. The romantic part, is like trying to eat a badly dried orange. It has no taste, no content or use. While the drama part, feels flat and unimportant.
