Needed more details for the storyline
MovieViewers4 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I think this movie needed more details. The movie portrayed as a zombie apocalypse, but instead of zombies it's the virus. The special effects were unrealistic the way blood was splattered, the way they shoot looked unrealistic, where the girl gets shot in the leg, and bleeds out, but lives? There were some audio mess up where the girl was talking but her mouth wasn't moving. I give the movie a 2.0 just because it lacked the details for the storyline. I needed more action and thriller and it didn't make me jump up from my seat. I didn't like the part where there were people being cannibals, I didn't understand why they put that part in there didn't make since.

Special Interest Love Affair Movie
bemyfriend-4018412 July 2022
This film was made as a fantasy for the special interest community. It is a same gender love movie, using the post-apocalyptic virus world as a backdrop. Seen on Tubi, the free streaming site; which also has live TV.

It's a shame
bartlec-970953 December 2023
It is a shame that this movie went straight to YouTube, it never really got a fair go. I hope that at the least it spotlighted the actors.

It is a low budget production, the fact that it was released in 2022 and on YouTube before 2023 says a lot.

Too many people are judging this production harshly, maybe it's the soft lesbian feel between our heroes or maybe people expect big budget movies for free.

Honestly, it's not that bad, watch it and judge for yourself.

I have seen far worse in low budget films, at least the acting and direction were solid as was the sound effects and music score. Watch it for what it is, not what it could have been with CGI and a few million dollars more.

Total garbage
paintblot1 March 2022
"Five years" after everyone has supposedly died from a virus, the lawns are all still neatly mowed, the corpses have not rotted and still stink .. total amateur hour.

No one is alive except gardeners and cleaners
sorgdrager19 April 2022
The gardeners are pretty good at keeping the lawns landscaped and the house cleaners make sure there isn't any dust. Even after 5 years. There are cannibals about too, even though there is no-one to eat. This was pretty stupid all round.

With irritating main characters, stupid bad guys, bizarre backstories, and a burgeoning teenage lesbian romance there is little to recommend this film. I generously give it 1 star because of how clean the teens keep their clothes and their rooms.

Bad sooooo bad
yuvilovemedia2 April 2022
How is it possible to make such a bad movie in 2022? With such good video editing software freely available this is pathetic. Did a teenage make this movie with their mobile phone for a school project or something?

Pathetic
teebear81714 June 2022
Watching this movie was absolutely excruciating. My wife and I watched it and I was screaming at the TV set every 3 or 4 minutes. Totally ludicrous and unbelievable, preposterous, absurd, separated from any believable behavior. This girl who is the lead character is very very unlikable. Very dumb, hopeless moron. Does the stupidest stupidest things you can imagine. She doesn't go out the first and second day to get all the food, water and medical supplies and guns to protect herself, she just walks around like a bimbo and keeps running from the government cars. The directing is atrocious it's like an artsy-fartsy garbage movie. Maddening. Truly maddening. Could have been good.

An amateur project but worth watching
moorek9 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this last year and dismissed it as too simplistic and poorly made. I watched it again tonight and while those opinions are still valid, I think the movie is fairly well made for an amateur project.

LOCATION. Other reviews point out some of the obvious flaws such as mowed lawns but that's a minor point. We see mowed lawns and flower beds in major post-apocalyptic movies and TV shows let alone an amateur production. We can finds scenes like that all through TWD. We can't ignore the reality that these type of shows are filmed in the real world with streets or houses blocked off for filming for only a day or two. Having said that I did find that the film makers were able to portray communities that appeared to be empty. Many movies do that only at night or early morning when they can get access to the streets but I felt this movie portrayed that emptiness in the middle of the day which is unusual.

PANDEMIC. The effect of the virus on people did seem a little extreme with the red skin and holes. You'd think people would die long before that but that is not a major issue in this movie. Again some reviews are saying that bodies are not decomposed after five years yet clearly some adults are still alive. Not only those adults hunting the kids but we see at least two adults in the end stages of the pandemic. So while the core of the pandemic might have been five years ago, some adults are still living and dying so not all would be decomposed. Also the pandemic is just the reason to set the story up. There was a feeling that they might have wanted to take that story in a different direction with the killing of the infected male but they never did.

CHARACTERS. Some reviews complain that Ellie is completely unprepared for this world. That's correct but that is what they show us. She still lives at home. She goes to her local dance hall. She has stayed in her own neighbourhood. She's buried her family in the backyard and we don't know how long ago they died. She might have been with some her family only up to months before we meet her. Yet she is able to forage for herself and can make choices when she needs to like killing the infected woman. One day she bikes over to the dance hall again and is then chased away so does go out unprepared. From her reaction I think we can assume this is her first time encountering the men in white.

The Quinn character is interesting as she is very practical and yet we could argue that knowing of the men in white, she could have been better prepared. Have "bug out" bags ready and placed in various locations. Having to go to the hardware store to get supplies when she had upwards of 5 years to gather that altogether. Again something that we see in more main stream movies as well.

The Men in White are neutral but also don't make any sense. Any teen who is still free and surviving on their own will likely have one or more weapons. All they needed was to have a team killed by teens and they would be a more military, well-guarded force. Not a bunch of guys with dart guns. We saw what happened to some of them.

ACTING. The acting isn't bad. Eve James as Eliie is actually better at the start of the movie when she is on her own. Kannon Smith as Quinn has a slightly more rounded character and plays it OK. I found I was interested in her character. Both are young novice actors so let's see how their careers might continue on.

LIGHTING. I also appreciated the fact that the lighting was bright and the filming very clear. Even the night scenes. Far more crisp than some better well-financed movies and TV shows.

BAD ELEMENTS. There were bad elements but so many are common in this genre.

*Grass and flower beds as mentioned above.

*Where are adults getting fuel 5 years later?

*Why are they not driving more off-road style vehicles?

*Disease make-up too extreme.

*Foolish things like there being cannibals. Really? There would still be enough canned food for years. You have access to thousands of guns (but you only have pistols?) and since there was no reference to the virus affecting other mammals or birds so you'd have an ever increasing wildlife population let alone the hundreds of thousands of all the various livestock still around.

All of these minor complaints can be found is so many other movies and TV shows.

In the end this is a low-budget movie, fairly slow, about a developing teen Lesbian relationship. With the subplot of youth against adults. Go into it as an amateur production and you'll find it worth your 80 minutes.

Thoughtful
rebeccaiannone6 August 2022
I wish people would give a movie a fair go. This is basically a first movie for both these main actresses and I for one, thought they were brilliant. The storyline was very interesting. The characters had real personality.

A solid 8 for me.

Forget what anyone else writes, every person will see a movie a different way... watch it and decide for yourself.

Not that bad, in fact kinda cute.
turbo-536 September 2022
Ok, granted, it's low budget with younger, not so seasoned actors and a simple plot. But nowhere near as bad as some people have posted.

To be honest, it's refreshing. In fact it's kind of endearing and pretty well put together, totally fine to have on in the background while working on the computer.

The story is no less sophisticated than an episode of the walking dead.

The characters were endearing and believable enough for the viewer to overlook any obvious simplifications or shortcomings.

If you enjoy pandemic movies with a slow pace and don't mind low budget you might get a kick out of this movie.

I enjoyed it, having found both girls quite relatable.

Unintentionally hilarious
superphrog19 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Oh, Richard Lowry, you madcap you. Only a director of the worst caliber could have created this scholck. I've seen monster movies from the 1950's with better storylines and dialog...and makeup, too. I'm sorry, but the girrrl that plays "Quinn" is also the special effects guru who decided people who die from virus based illnesses simply look like the red version of Blue Man Group. Also apparently in this word decomposition isn't a thing, but then, very little of the real world seeps through to this not-very-well camouflaged wanna-be LGBTQ "love story". That it fails at just as hard as it does being a post apocalyptic story, by the way. Sad, sad acting on the part of the two leads...go to some acting classes girls-you were terrible, and that's being generous. Of course your director should be literally shot for not getting the best, or even anything good out of you, but still. I'm only giving this a two because of the insanely beautiful area of ?? New Mexico maybe?? You filmed in-the real star of this show is the setting, and was the ONLY thing that made me sit through this garbage.

Full of holes but some decent shots
greatatwatido8 April 2024
This movie is like hard to completely hate there's no doubt it's dumb with what the main actor does until her sidekick turns up to school her on zombie survival tactics. Or even just basic survival like drinking water. Despite the bad directing the director did appear to write the script as well and there was some kind of thought provoking angle i just can't work out what it was exactly but it was there. The two girls are not dislikable like some reviews suggest. It's kinda lazy writing to not involve the bad guys in the script dialogue... they only appear to somehow get killed ridiculously easily when they out gun the protagonists with heavy duty shooters.

I think this film was about as deep as a shallow puddle but there was moments of greatness somewhere hidden in the mire!

Appears like a school project
Tammarazzi1 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It feels like a school project. Extremely low budget. Poor special effects. Plenty of holes in this. Many are much too obvious to just ignore. House Plants won't live for 5 years without being watered lol! Lawns don't mow themselves. Shrubs and trees don't trim and shape themselves. Gardens would be completely overgrown. Pools don't stay clean without electricity and a filter and chemicals. Also, after 5 years, a pool in the desert would be empty due to evaporation. Houses would fall into disrepair and gather heavy amounts of dust after 5 years being empty. Especially in the desert.

I saw no wild animals. After 5 years with no people or very little people, animals and nature would move back into the cities and towns. Pavement and sidewalks and patios would be overgrown.

The stalkers can track them with a sound magnifier, but they don't have a heat sensor to track them from the helicopter or vans. The sound magnifier doesn't pick up their talking to each other, or cooking or bathing or scavenging, or riding a bike, or hearing them shoot other people, but it picks up a tiny music box from a mile away.

They literally ride a bike and walk around in plain sight, when they are supposed to be being careful not to get caught or heard by the stalkers who are patrolling every street and searching every house.

Most people don't have Everclear just stocked up in their homes. It's 190 proof" means 95% Alcohol by volume, the remainder 5% comprised of water. And there were 2, brand new 60 pounders? Lol! I could see being stocked up on Vodka, but Everclear? Oops I could be wrong! I was just informed that Everclear was the liquor of choice during our real pandemic. Who knew?

After Ellie shoots (She's suddenly an excellent marksman, and had never even shot a gun before, or been shown how.), and kills the 2 stalkers to save Quin, the next 3 stalkers enter the field and see 2 dead co-workers lying there and they slowly and casually walk over to them? Shouldn't they be running with tranq guns drawn? And once at the spot, wouldn't they follow the drag marks into the bush and quickly try and find the killer(s)? Especially when they know how slow they'd be moving. One is deadweight due to the tranquilizer she was shot with, and is literally being dragged by the other girl. But they don't even glance in that direction.

Three stalkers take a pile of shots at them with the tranq guns but miss almost every shot. Yet they are apparently government employees. Most likely military who are trained marksmen.

Once the Stalkers abduct Ellie, Quin outruns the van while running through sand, rock and brambles all uphill and ends up in front of it back on the highway. Bizarre! At least Quin attempted to make it look like she was running fast. Still much too slow to outrun a vehicle travelling on the highway. When Ellie ran, it was like watching a person run in slow motion. Painful and kind of funny.

When Quin gets away and ends up in front of the van, all of a sudden she's a super trained marksman too. She kills all three and does a backhanded second shot at one of them for good measure, while not looking. Was humorous, and kind of cool haha!

There are plenty more holes that I could pick apart until there's nothing left. After saying that, I actually enjoyed this film. Ya I'm one of those. I can enjoy some of the worst movies. I find most of them humorous, and sometimes there's other great things that balance out the negatives.

Thankfully, the two young lead girls were actually not too bad in the acting department. They're new to acting and I thought they did a good job. The more films they're in, the better they will be. Giving this a 5, mostly to balance out the 1's, and because there were quite a few good qualities with the bad.

It's pretty decent if you pay attention
amandafletcher-2961327 July 2022
It's clear this was a low budget film so I've taken that into account. I watch a lot of b grade sci fi and low budget films, even decent students films.

This is a bit of a rough diamond, it's fairly well done, the acting is good and so is the editing.

Is it perfect? No, you can see people whinging in the other reviews, but I really enjoyed this and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. It develops the story and characters well and had a good degree of tension without too much chit chat. It's visually well done and has beautiful scenery.

In this genre you don't need every question answered and all the details spoon fed, that's not how it works. I think this movie did that very well and worked well within its limits.

It does the post apocalyptic genre well, including the big fact that a lot of "shiny" higher budget pieces miss- that fuel does go off, and so does food in cans. I'm happy to ignore the couple of minor things like all the well maintained pools and houses because I just don't think that's important.

It's a really good piece worth a watch for fans of the genre, well done actors and crew! (I don't know them but I can see they've worked their butts off)

UNDERSTATED HUMAN STORY
Universalexport359928 September 2022
Medical developments in the last few years were bound to produce a film with so blatant a title. Richard Lowery and crew have done this by making simple small stories that some will not like.

After the Pandemic (2022 isn't about a pandemic with melting people eating the living although that is hinted at in the story. Judging from some of the other reviews of this work that idea has zoomed over the heads of some. The film world is full of those stories as we all know making this film different. The pandemic is the setting for the story of two people wonderfully played by Ellie (Eve James) and Quinn (Kannon Smith).

After The Pandemic (2022) is a silent, brightly lit world sparsely populated by humans that move amongst the abandoned building and white biohazard-suited people who use sound detectors. The SUV driving white suits capture the survivors, toss them in a van and ships them off for a purpose that is not fleshed out. The film plausibly plays the silent idea by having the first third of the film told entirely without dialogue.

It opens with Ellie in an upper-class home five years after the disease has wiped out people including her parents whom she has buried in the backyard. The shots flow wonderfully as Ellie goes about her routine of practicing ballet and then scavenging for food. The instance she finds is a tine of cat food which she slowly eats while staring out a window. Big difference from the other vision of post-pandemic worlds of a burning building, storms, stampeding creatures and paramilitary dirty-faced humans trying to save the last vestige of humanity.

Ellie in her travels stumbles upon Quinn living in another home in the destroyed world. Quinn is the opposite of the rather naively played Ellie. Quinn informs her of the dangers of being captured, how to fight, how to cook food, put rubber covering on her shoes to avoid detection. Quinn is a fighter that has lost something of herself in the battle to survive which she does virtually and without consciousness. She tells Ellie she can stay one night and then must leave adding that its "nothing personal"

After the Pandemic (2022) becomes a friendship story of two women verging on hints of a Lesbian relationship which again is entirely plausible in a world of only two people. Both these people are broken in some way and need each other to live.

Quinn and Ellie's friendship grows as they world together climaxing in obtaining a driving a sports car down a bright sunlight highway shrieking happiness like Thelma and Louise (1991) That film is a good analogy for After the Pandemic (2022} since the happiness doesn't last. The world swallows Ellie and Quinn up returning itself to the status quo.

The players Eve James and Kannon Smith work quite well together showing contrasts and growing together on screen. They work well in the action moment of gunplay although the running away from the evil bio suits looks like it could have been executed better. They do the best with what they are given as does Director/Writer Richard Lowery. The film is filled with sharp editing of suburban vistas and the surrounding desert.

After The Pandemic (2022) is a small film about a large event. The drawing together of a friendship and love between two broken souls in a world in which they are left alone. In a sense both become one as the film progresses. The real tragedy in the world that is decimated is the loss of humanity.

Why the high rating
james573124 November 2023
It was a low budget movie The acting wasn't bad. Besides that it was a story about The human condition ultimately and all you haters just live a pathetic life and just hate for the sake of hating I think. Sure it was hokey in parts but they had a small budget so I suppose you expected all the homes that they got into to be dilapidated like it would be in real life. Get over yourselves. The two young girls acting did a pretty decent job ultimately and it was a pretty gritty movie when you think about it. Watching the second time, I think you'll find parts of it pretty good if you just remember that it was a low budget.

I Love Quinn!
gab-675995 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Ok, let's be honest. This movie was horribly low budget and you could tell. Camerawork, crap. Background character recycling. The infected looked like oompa loompa's. I never really could tell if Quins tats and nose ring were real because they kept moving by the end of the movie. At least if your going to use a pandemic story have the ppl in it actually care about catching the virus. They cared and wore masks like twice. I could not hear the other girl in the movie, at all!

What a great movie poster though, I fell for it. As a big fan of indie's this movie had it's charm. Although this was more of a 3 star movie, I gave points for the low ratings. Would have been better if we saw where they ended up together. Also the virus story was confusing. Stalker wanted them to dissect, but why? You could tell Quinn was one of those characters that you would love in just about any movie. She was strong, intriguing and I cannot wait to see what she does in the future, in a better movie that is.
