Summer Newman’s Crisis
In tomorrow’s episode, Y&r fans can expect Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) to deal with a crisis at Marchetti.
Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) has a job offer as well as Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan). Based on what’s been shown so far, it appears that both Sally and Chesea could leave Marchetti, which could definitely put Summer in crisis mode. Sally is a designer and Chelsea is the creative director, so that’s a double whammy.

Showtime and Lionsgate’s Entertainment One have prevailed in a lawsuit claiming their hit series “Yellowjackets” stole ideas from a 2015 film called “Eden.”
In court documents obtained by TheWrap, U.S. District Judge Dean Pregerson dismissed the November 2024 lawsuit, saying that the television show and film – both about soccer teams that crash in the woods on the way to a game, and begin to lean into cult-like behavior, ultimately resorting to cannibalism – were not similar enough to constitute copyright infringement.
“There can be no serious dispute that escape attempts by shipwrecked or stranded survivors are prevalent throughout fiction and history, from Odysseus, Robinson Crusoe and Gilligan to Shackleton and the Uruguayan rugby team,” Pregerson wrote. “Instances of competition, tribalism and factionalism in disaster scenarios or in response to resource scarcity are nearly as commonplace, from ‘The Tempest’ to ‘Survivor’ to much of the post-apocalyptic genre, such as the ‘Mad Max...

Showtime Networks and Lionsgate’s Entertainment One have beaten a lawsuit accusing them of ripping off 2015 survival thriller Eden in Yellowjackets.
Both follow a soccer team whose members start to exhibit cult-like behavior and contemplate cannibalism after crash landing in a remote location. U.S. District Judge Dean Pregerson on Friday dismissed the lawsuit, finding that the plots, characters, themes and settings of the two works aren’t similar enough to constitute copyright infringement.
Eden, written by Nate Parker and distributed by Voltage Pictures, was released in 2015. Showtime sensation Yellowjackets premiered in 2021 to critical acclaim. Its second season opener became the studio’s most streamed debut ever, drawing roughly 2 million viewers across all platforms. The third season as a whole was the most watched so far for the series, with its finale drawing in 3 million watchers in its first seven days.

Andor Series High Rating (Photo Credit – Hotstar)
The Force is strong with this one, like, critically strong. Just when we thought Star Wars had peaked with Jedi duels and Grogu-sized cuteness, Andor sneaks in with its blaster set to “masterpiece.” The gritty rebel thriller is back for Season 2, and guess what? It’s not just back, it’s breaking records. Ahead of its April 22nd premiere, Andor Season 2 has officially scored the highest Rotten Tomatoes rating of any Star Wars project. Yup, it just Force-choked the competition.
Set during the tense years before Rogue One and A New Hope, the new season is serving up 12 episodes divided into four 3-episode arcs, aka mini Star Wars movies packed with espionage, betrayal, and some serious rebel grit. If Season 1 was about building the rebellion, Season 2 is about lighting the fire. And from the critic buzz, it looks like Andor just became the...

Young and the Restless weekly predictions see Summer Newman clawing, Audra Charles getting exposed, and Amy Lewis getting some really bad news.
We have got predictions for Amy Lewis (Valarie Pettiford) and Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic), for Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver), for Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), for Dumas and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), and for Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and Damian Kane (Jermaine Rivers).
Young and the Restless Spoilers: Amy’s Cancer Battle and Nate’s Dilemma
Our very first prediction: Amy’s cancer gets worse during sweeps. And I even hate to say this, but it is sweeps. So Nate of course, finally got Amy to agree to treatment for her Leukemia. And Nate brought in Dr. Kelly, that oncologist from Chicago. He took Amy up to Chicago, or over to Chicago, however the geography works, got her into treatment. And Nate and Damian (Jermaine Rivers) went along.

Young and the Restless fans, I’ve got your two-week spoilers for April 14th through the 25th. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) escalates the insanity, and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) is making a threat. On Monday, April 14th, we have Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) talking to Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) about what’s going on with his love life, and she thinks that he should get back with Sharon Newman (Sharon Case).
He thinks it’s destiny, but Nick is like, “No, that’s not it, we’re just friends. We’re taking this family trip, but there’s nothing romantic about it.” Victoria worries that because Nick is saying no to Sharon, that means he might say yes to Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), but he’s quick to say no, that’s not happening either.

Young and the Restless spoilers for April 14-18, 2025 see Alan Laurent (Christopher Cousins) is cornered, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) is pushing, and Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) is rattled.
Young and the Restless Spoilers: Phyllis’ Discovery and Summer’s Dilemma
So, on Wednesday, April 9th, we’ve got Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) telling Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) about Alan’s deranged twin, Martin. And Chance Chancellor’s (Conner Floyd) theory that they swapped during this deathly fall from a balcony in Paris.
Summer freaks out, understandably, thinking that Phyllis’ kidnapper has been living in the same house with Harrison Locke (Redding Munsell). That is a valid issue. Summer says she and Chance split up because she’s clearly not over Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). And Phyllis is really hoping that Summer is not going to make a move to try and steal Kyle from Claire Grace Newman (Hayley Erin).

Exclusive: The London Barbican Theatre’s scintillating production of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull, boasting an all-star ensemble led by Cate Blanchett, Tom Burke and Emma Corrin and directed by the estimable Berlin-based Thomas Ostermeier, is setting course for New York in 2026, multiple sources inform me.
The play, adapted by Duncan Macmillan and Ostermeier, is propelled by blasts of oomph. It feels so marvelously fresh that it could have been written today. Indeed, Macmillan and Ostermeier keep on eye on current events and amend their script as and when significant news emerges.
Like, on Thursday night, Jason Watkin’s Sorin made a point about the “f*cking high tariffs” he has to pay on his country estate’s farm produce, a clear reference to the tariffs introduced Wednesday by the Trump administration.

Character actor Denis Arndt, who appeared in Basic Instinct, a slate of David E. Kelley shows and earned a Tony nomination for his role in Broadway’s two-hander Heisenberg, has died at the age of 86, his family announced in an obituary published Wednesday.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of our dad, Denis Leroy Arndt,” the statement read. “He died peacefully in his bed in his beloved cabin home of almost 50 years in Ashland, Oregon; he wouldn’t have had it any other way.”
Born Feb. 23, 1939 in Issaquah, Wash., Arndt served as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart twice. Afterward, the soon-to-be prolific actor moved to Seattle, where a friend convinced him to audition for a local theater, paving the way to more onstage roles later in his career.
“Of course, Dad got the main role. And he was brilliant.

Far too often these days, fantasy settings in anime are just fodder for power fantasies. However, some fantasy anime prefer to travel down a darker path. These series feature characters who've been horrendously wronged and become singularly driven by revenge.
Fantasy anime series focused on revenge often take place in dark fantasy settings, allowing viewers a break from the usual high fantasy featured in most series. While these can occasionally veer into being needlessly edgy, the best series are cathartic. Great revenge storylines push fans to think about the downsides to giving oneself over to such an all-consuming emotion, or at least offer the enjoyment of seeing a target of revenge finally get what they deserve.

From the moment Jean-Luc Godard returned to commercial cinema with his self-proclaimed “second first film” Every Man for Himself, he devoted himself to crafting a kind of holistic film, one rebuilt from the supposed “end of cinema” represented by his caustic 1967 feature Weekend. It was a goal he pursued until the end of his life, constantly revising his methods with new editing and video technology while finding new ways to illustrate the intersections of moviemaking, artistic representation, and the political histories that art both reveals and obscures. His first major summary of this method was 1987’s King Lear, a nominal treatment of Shakespeare’s tragedy that’s a total deconstruction of the prospect of adaptation.
Godard’s avant-garde approach and totalizing ambitions are obvious from the outset. The first thing we hear is a taped phone call from producer Menahem Colan berating Godard for taking too long with the project...

The Young and the Restless spoilers for February 24-28 focus on Sharon and Phyllis missing in action, Audra resorting to set boundaries, and a not-so-surprising reunion.
Next Week on The Young and the Restless
Apparently, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Sharon (Sharon Case) are missing in action. After their respective Valentine’s Day dreams, they both vanished into thin air. However, next week, we’ll see what they are up to.
When we catch up to them and whatever they’re going through, Phyllis finds herself in dire circumstances, while Sharon is forced to make a difficult decision. Does this mean that they’re together? We know that Ian (Ray Wise) is still alive. Is he the one responsible for what they’re experiencing? Does Sharon or Phyllis instigate this disappearance? Later in the week, suspicion mounts about Phyllis and Sharon. What does the word “suspicion” mean here in this context?...

Can anyone forget the transfixing mysteries of Lois Patiño’s 2023 film, “Samsara”? The director is back with a new feature, “Ariel,” which recently premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival in the Harbour section. The film is a disarmingly playful, free-wheeling strum on representation and reality. It’s lit by a spirit of surreal mischief, as Agustina Muñoz playing herself travels to an island for a production of “The Tempest,” where everyone is locked in a sort of Shakespeare-mania.
HighOnFilms’ Debanjan Dhar caught up with Patiño to discuss Ariel’s metatextual riffs, collaborations with Matías Piñeiro and Ion De Sosa, and bringing Shakespeare into the fold of everyday in the Azores. Edited excerpts from the conversation:
Debanjan: Could you speak about creating the conceit of the ferry where somewhere midway all passengers except Ariel fall into deep sleep? When did that conceit, as the first entry point into that strange,...

Director Scott Derrickson‘s new sci-fi thriller “The Gorge” is largely a two-hander between Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy as assassins tasked with guarding opposite sides of an enormous and highly classified chasm.
That chasm is also home to a supernatural force that cannot be allowed to get out, under any circumstances. Outside Teller and Taylor-Joy’s central story — a romance that develops over binoculars as they communicate without ever traversing the space between them — one of the movie’s biggest pleasures lies elsewhere.
That’s in Derrickson’s casting of Sigourney Weaver as Bartholomew, the imposing and enigmatic operative who hires Teller to guard the gorge without revealing its secrets — or her own intentions. Part of the fun of watching Weaver in the role is seeing her as a character that recalls not Ripley, the heroine she played in four “Alien” films, but one of the shadowy figures behind Weyland-Yutani,...

A few years back, directors Lois Patiño and Matías Piñeiro joined forces for what was meant to be a very loose adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Tempest. The resulting short, Sycorax, felt like the meeting of two kindred spirits. Piñeiro’s ability to resuscitate the Bard’s texts and graft them onto present-day settings met with Patiño’s keen eye for the otherworldly. The story of a fictional cineaste (Piñeiro regular Agustina Muñoz) who roams the Azores in search of a woman to play the eponymous witch from The Tempest, Sycorax oozed both the playfulness of Piñeiro’s “Shakespeareads” and the sensual, hypnotic aura of Patiño’s Red Moon Tide or Samsara. It was that rare joint project whose two directors worked in perfect symbiosis, each playing to the other’s strengths.

Right from the opening of Lois Patiño’s endlessly beguiling new film “Ariel,” reality is ruptured. The sky and the sea are mottled with a purple glow. The camera shifts its gaze to a troupe of performers on the shores. It’s a Shakespeare play; there’s a rapt audience watching. Agustina Muñoz plays herself, an actress whom the troupe has tapped to play Ariel from The Tempest.
Set in the Azores, she travels to an island to partake in a production. However, a heightened air of the uncanny sets in on the ferry trip itself. Suddenly, everyone aboard except Agustina slips into sleep, as if hexed. It gets even more confounding when she reaches the island. Each of its inhabitants is a Shakespeare character. Agustina is baffled. She thinks they are all playing some trick on her. But they refuse to shake off their performative air.

Lights On has secured international sales rights to “Ariel,” the latest feature from acclaimed Galician director Lois Patiño, whose previous work “Samsara” tripped out audiences at the Berlin Film Festival. The film is set to make its world premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam(IFFR) on Feb. 11, screening in the Harbour section, a platform for bold and innovative contemporary cinema.
“Ariel” tells the story of Agustina Muñoz, an Argentine actress who arrives on the Azores Islands to perform in a production of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” with the Galician theater company Voadora.

Protesters from the environmental group Just Stop Oil interrupted a performance of The Tempest starring Sigourney Weaver in London’s West End on Jan. 27, with the audience responding with boos and jeers. Footage released by the group shows the star, who portrays Prospero in the late Shakespeare play, leaving the stage after the interruption. In the video, the protesters can be seen using a confetti cannon, with a sign unfurled reading, “Over 1.5 degrees is a global shipwreck,” a reference to the play’s plot. Back in the 1990s, there was no bigger musical superstar than Alfred Moretti. “Global” doesn’t begin to describe his level of fame. His particular brand of old-school glam rock, new-school electro-pop and sheer charisma meant he topped every chart imaginable. He reinvented genres, cavorted with presidents and popes, broke Cindy Crawford’s heart. The man’s fans were legion. Moretti went by many nicknames: The Debutante, The Velvet Collar, Don Diva, The Wizard of Wiggle. Mostly, he was simply Moretti, a God-tier artist artist that earned his place in...

Behind every great man, as the old, outdated expression goes, there’s a great woman — and there’s a pretty decent chance she’s been played by Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor.
The 55-year-old actress has built a long, inspiring career out of portraying characters who linger just off center stage: the long-suffering wife of Cuba Gooding Jr.’s Navy Seal in 2000’s Men of Honor; Ray Charles’ mistress in Jamie Foxx’s 2004 biopic Ray; Yusef Salaam’s mother in 2019’s When They See Us (her first Emmy nomination); and Venus and Serena Williams’ mom in the 2021 Will Smith film about their dad, King Richard (her first Oscar nom).
“If we only know the figurehead and we don’t know the women who were doing the groundwork, it’s not the full truth,” she tells THR. “We’d be telling a half story.”

Talk about a surprise. When Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (who has been acting professionally since her debut as Ariel in 1995’s Broadway revival of “The Tempest” opposite Patrick Stewart) arrived on the Louisiana set of “Nickel Boys” (Amazon/MGM/Orion), her documentarian-turned-feature-director RaMell Ross told her to do something she had never done before: Look straight into the lens, without a reverse angle on her co-star. She couldn’t see her fellow actors because their faces were obscured by the camera, just as their faces were hidden from the audience.
Watching the lauded critical hit “Nickel Boys” requires an adjustment to a strict point-of-view aesthetic. But Taylor-Ellis had to make it work on the ground, on the fly. The tightly scheduled period feature (budgeted at $20 million) left little time to figure it out.
Reactions range widely to this avant-garde Colson Whitehead adaptation about a brutal southern school for boys, but among the “Nickel Boys” ensemble,...

Olivia Hussey, who left an indelible mark on cinema and television through diverse works ranging from Romeo and Juliet to Black Christmas to Jesus of Nazareth has passed away. She was 73.
Olivia Hussey garnered widespread acclaim and a Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer for portraying the titular Capulet in what is considered one of the best Shakespeare adaptations, 1968’s Romeo and Juliet. But she soon found a home in genre and horror movies, landing the lead role in Bob Clark’s slasher classic Black Christmas. It was here that Hussey played Jess Bradford, who would actually be one of the earliest examples of the “final girl”, paving the way for the likes of Halloween’s Laurie Strode, A Nightmare on Elm Street’s Nancy Thompson, Scream’s Sidney Prescott, and countless others.

Tennessee Williams sets Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, his 1955 play about sexual repression, at a cotton plantation on the Mississippi Delta. You can feel the heat in director Rebecca Frecknall’s production at the Almeida Theatre starring a scorching Daisy Edgar-Jones as Maggie, the cat in question, who does all in her power to jolt her inattentive husband, Brick — played superbly by Kingsley Ben-Adir — out of his self-inflicted stupor.
The play opened just a few days ago and there’s already chatter about it transferring into the West End, most appropriately, next summer, and Edgar-Jones must be persuaded to move with it, along with Ben-Adir, Lennie James’ powerful Big Daddy and Clare Burt’s cotton-headed Big Mama.
Edgar-Jones’ Maggie the cat is a study in the art of allure, and calculation; she prowls the Almeida stage like a hungry feline wanting to play with her prey before gobbling it up,...

Megalopolis.Leaving the Cannes premiere of Megalopolis (2024) earlier this year, I remember a few friends and colleagues asking if I’d liked it. Truth is, I didn’t know; a few months later, I still don’t. There were things that felt outright puzzling—the clunky dialogue, the nonsensical storylines, the campy excess of it all. And yet, much like Joey Shapiro at the Chicago Reader, “I also found myself in awe of it over and over again.”Such an ambivalent response isn’t exactly the most common reaction to Francis Ford Coppola’s latest, which has received a raucous critical drubbing since its release. “Megaflopolis might be a better name for it,” Tara Brady quips at the Irish Times; over at Entertainment Weekly, Maureen Lee Lenker sees it as “a stain on [the director’s] legacy”: aside from “his being the mastermind behind two of cinema's greatest achievements, he's also now...
