not familiar to mexican good feel movie actors
ops-5253511 September 2020
But i think this was a bit too serious to raise the comedy red flag warning. its a mexican netflix founded film about a bmx'ed girl, that isnt allowed to ride the bike by her mum, cause her dad got killed when biking after a quarell. so when a prize winning biking contest come to the girls knowledge, shes turning hot and turns the world upside down to attend, but she cant get her mums written agreement for the race, so she and a friend hunts the mexican ground in search for a father-figure that can sign on the admission ticket...easy piecy story and plot, but the mexicans really makes a fuzz outof nothing and this films is the result.

production is a flashing try to make a familyfriendly disney take on the issue. in fact they do hit the target but just a bit. its meant to be comedy, and i shall admit that my grumpy old mouth wrenched into a smile here and there, but the spirits a merely too sad allthrough this flick so therefore not a comedy in my mind. its also cathegorized as family, well its is indeed, but with a very serious case of sad vibes, of loss of loved ones, lack of love from the close ones, and a child loneliness in a workoholic sosiety and a work to fade away the sad feelings of loss-mum that is very absent to her daughter.the plotintermissions are neatly done, but the parts where a film is made within a film might be to stressfull for the young familymembers to cope with.

its a very music driven film, good a varied music its also, so the score line up are cleverly chosen and done. its like clutching the straw to save the world from the armageddonish feeling, its decently done.

actors... well its the finest looking and most fashionable choice of mexican casting that dominates the movie. the children in the film are good stuff, the adult acts re more shaky and not so convincing. the dialouges though rattles like a machinegun clip at automatic setting, how they can manage to say so many sounds in a short time icant imagine. i may be excused, cause the cold climate of norway you do have to shut your mouth to keep warm...

well do not shade away from this movie, the charming elements are to heavy for that, and the lonely childs scream for attention to valuable to forget, so its a recommend from the ever and ever grumpy old man.

Does not achieve the objective
faer_kr13 September 2020
A Mexican family movie. It is about a girl who wants to enter a cycling competition but how her mother does not let her decide to do a casting to find a father who will help her with permission without them knowing. Paid for with the fiscal stimulus, this film would hit theaters and Netflix took it for its catalog. The film does not have the necessary cohesion, it is arrhythmic and loose. The ending doesn't make any sense and is out of the context of the film, plus it's very forced. They try to talk vaguely of letting go of fears and taking risks in life but they can't. Some performances are good and others do not reach what is required. Predictable like all of its kind. Exaggerated and ridiculous dramatic moments like a Mexican soap opera. Risky because it is not your typical romantic comedy. Avoidable if you are not a fan of Mexican movies.

How do you make a mediocre movie worse?
chrisw-7004726 September 2020
By hiring second rate translators and third rate voice actors. I can see how this could have been a passable movie in it's original language, especially for it's target audience (guessing middle-school age, since that's the two main characters). But when you translate it badly (some of the phrasing is so awful it's funnier than the plot!), then get even worse actors to do the voice over (one or two were actually good, but not enough to overcome the rest), it takes all possibility of enjoyment from the movie.

Sucks

This one of the worst Mexican movies I have seen in a long time, everything is predictable, the story leads you nowhere, you never connect with none of the characters and it's just looks everything overreacted. This is what harms the Mexican cinema, dum productions everywhere while the outstanding ones have a lot of trouble making it's way.

Atrocious
edmerica18 September 2020
Can't tell if the movie is directed to parents or children, it constantly takes horrible twists and turns that leave you wondering if it's supposed to teach you something (that I can't still figure out what it is) or just make you waste an hour and forty three minutes of your day. Weak storyline, predictable, terrible and effortless acting by the whole cast.

One of the worst mexican movies I've seen in a long time
AlexisCazares24 September 2020
Very poor performances, but the director's work is worst because many times he cannot make the stories and actions make sense to us. Little performances mainly from actress Arantxa Servin, who told you who was acting? dedicate herself to something else. It has very simple conflict resolutions and without any development at times. Please Netflix: stop approving scripts and projects as poor as this one.

extremely weird even possibility of grooming
ohnotakataka19 September 2020
I might be overreacting but it this show promotes hanging out with old guys as a young girl and not telling your parents. parents were demonized and alienated. the main character (a 12 year old girl) is portrayed as only being understood by a stranger who she hardly knows who is an older man. in a particularly weird scene involving weird acting in public she tells the man that she is uncomfortable but is only told to "trust" him and the crowd who is around them normalizes this through agreeing. the stpry line is week nd honestly feels like its ttrying to push ideas that tie into grooming hidden underneath a very meaningless and irrelevent story.

Surprisingly Amazing!
mallennyc12 October 2020
I think I have great taste in films, I'm a movie snob and I really loved this movie. It has a beautiful storyline and it was wonderfully executed. Each actor played their part well and I really felt their pain. I wish the ratings were higher so that more would watch it.

Great, simple movie geared toward younger-generation Spanish speakers
velazquezbiggers12 November 2021
First of all: some reviewers say that this movie is badly translated. We watched it the original language and loved it, but the English subtitles were broken and didn't follow the the scene very well at times, so I can see why viewers outside of Spanish language would feel lost in translation. (Yes, pun intended).

Second of all: if you go into this film expecting it to reflect American or European acting styles and modern political views, you will also be disappointed. If you're expecting depth and complexity from this film, you will be massively disappointed. It is simple, top-level, and innocent; but it also sweet, enjoyable, and refreshing.

The actress that plays the "transformed" character is Silvia Navarro. She is so talented, I love any movie or series with her in it, and she carries the plot of her character well: the widowed mother of a rebellious and obstinate preteen. The man in the movie is Juan Pablo Medina. I honestly appreciated what he brought to this role: a grieving father and self-renounced actor with a broke bank and broken heart. A third adult actress is Aleyda Gallardo. If you're not familiar with Mexican culture, Mari portrays the domestic worker of the home, a common role found in any Mexican film that reflects the wealth of the family. And in this movie, mom is rich and Mari works for her.

But this movie isn't about the adults. This is about a preteen who hates her mother because she blames her for her dad's death, and is trying desperately to cling to the one thing that ties her to her dad's memory: BMX. The entire movie is from the viewpoint of this preteen, and her over-exxagerated and desperate attempts to manipulate the adults in her life to get what she wants.

My only let-down was the "climax", which really wasn't that great. The BMX "race" was so staged that it felt unreal. I would have appreciated more focus on that. I think this massive let-down is a pain-point for the audience, especially since the adults don't get together and no massive reconciliation happens between any of the characters. A great build-up leads to a mediocre ending, and that's going to disappoint a lot of viewers. However, if you can appreciate the movie for its acting, and not for the poor direction, you may find some new actors to follow in some of their other works, because I assure you, these actors were much better than the storyline they followed.

Familiar Plot with a different but Amazing Feeling like all good movies
MitwalyOsman19 December 2020
Being a movie junkie, I probably have seen too many movies with similar plot a hundred times. But I still enjoyed this movie and I wont mind watching it again for a hundred times. And although it was almost entirely predictable, I was still enjoying every scene and enjoying how they are going to make it.
