Fans often take an interest in celebrity health, seeing their favorite stars as aspirational figures when it comes to staying healthy and fit. Some stars lean into this by serving as spokespeople or even launching companies of their own. Christina Aguilera recently kicked off such a venture of her own with sexual wellness bland Playground, and in the process, the singer shared some personal details about her own life.
Christina Aguilera became a pop star in the late 1990s
Aguilera, of course, rose to fame in the late 1990s. Her first big single was “Reflection” from the Disney animated film Mulan in 1998. Madison De La Garza, a former child actor on Desperate Housewives, has spoken about the devastating online backlash she received when she was just six years old.
The actor and filmmaker, who is the younger half-sister of musician Demi Lovato, played Juanita Solis, the daughter of Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria), on the popular series.
According to De La Garza, she became the target of abuse on social media following her role in the show, which caused her to develop an eating disorder.
She opened up about the time to Elizabeth Vargas on the Heart of the Matter podcast.
“They said things like they wanted me to die because of what I looked like,” De La Garza said. “It was just horrible, like, ‘ugly fat cow,’ and ‘I hope you get cancer and die because you’re so fat’.

Demi Lovato wishes she hadn’t put out three documentaries. In an interview with Alternative Press, the 30-year-old singer reveals why she regrets putting out “Demi Lovato: Stay Strong” in 2012, “Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated” in 2017, and “Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil” in 2021.
“I wish I would have waited until I had my s**t figured out more because now it’s cemented,” Lovato, who’s been open about her struggles with addiction, explains. “Sobriety is what works for me and nothing else.”
Given that, Lovato doesn’t see herself ever putting out another documentary in the future.
“Honestly, I’m really sick of watching myself, and I think other people probably are too,” she says. “And if they aren’t, then they can watch my music videos.”
Instead of a documentary, Lovato says that, should she decide to speak out again, she’ll do so in the form of an interview or a book.

Once again, we find ourselves already surprisingly further into a calendar year than feels appropriate. Even for those who don’t make it their sole mission to stay up-to-date with every new development in the TV world, the majority of the past year has brought with it a daunting number of series.
Some of those have been brand new shows, either the result of conscious release date delays or interrupted production schedules. Others have been series imports that enjoyed full runs in different parts of the world before getting a U.S. debut in 2021. And as the year continues to develop and the awards calendar switches over into its multi-holiday phase, we’ve also seen the return of established favorites.
We try our best to help sift through the steady stream of newcomers every month, but there still always seems to be more than any casual viewer can keep track.

The fourth and final installment of the YouTube Originals series “Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil” tasked Therapy Studios editor Shannon Albrink with tying together the work of Paul Little, who cut the first three episodes, and of providing closure to a volatile and vulnerable period in the pop star’s life.

You came in to edit the finale. How did you work to keep it seamless?
Paul Little, the other editor, had already edited the first two episodes at that point. They were in a rough cut state,...

We know so much about Demi Lovato, yet less than we thought. The 28-year-old Disney actress turned pop star seemed as open about her addiction and personal troubles as any public figure, yet her new four-part YouTube series, Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil (the third documentary about her life in which she’s had a part), reveals that much of her candor was a facade concealing even deeper trauma.

Demi Lovato’s documentary “Dancing With the Devil” released its first episode on YouTube on Tuesday, and the series is an unprecedented and unfiltered look into the former Disney star’s life, relationship with her family and battles with addiction.
In “Dancing With the Devil,” Demi opens up to the cameras with commentary provided by her mother and stepfather, sisters, choreographer, and friends, as well as the neurologist at Cedars-Sinai hospital who treated her brain injuries after her overdose. Throughout the series, these sources start a raw but compassionate dialogue about the parts of Lovato’s life that led her to her breaking point in 2018 — but also celebrate her talent, strength and resilience and her joy at getting a new lease on life.

A year has passed since Covid-19 impacted the world and changed the idea of what normal life was like. One of the very first major events effected was South By Southwest (SxSw.) Last March, SxSw had to cancel just weeks before its annual conference which attracts over 100,000 people each year who descind on Austin, Texas for the latest in innovation, film, and music.
12 months later, SxSw like many others has been forced to reimagine itself as SxSw Online. A 5-day venture into the world of an online film/music/tech festival. On Tuesday night the film portion of festival kicked off in attendee’s homes with an eye-opening roller coaster ride into the life of pop megastar Demi Lovato and her battles that almost killed her just three years ago.

Back in 2018, former Disney star, now-chart-topping artist, Demi Lovato, produced a documentary about her “Tell Me You Love Me” world tour. The footage from the abandoned film projects a woman who is an emblem to substance abuse survivors and an advocate for mental health awareness. She’s selling out stadiums, and her fanbase is massive. On that tour, however, she also released the track “Sober.” Wherein she admitted to relapsing after six years of sobriety.

Los Angeles, March 17 (Ians) Singer-songwriter Demi Lovato, says she was "raped" when she was a teenager, and "sexually assaulted" by her drug dealer in July 2018, on the night she had a drug overdose and almost died.
"I didn't just overdose. I was taken advantage of," the 28-year-old says in her documentary series, "Demi Lovato: Dancing With The Devil", which premiered at the South By Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival, as reported by People magazine.
"When they found me, I was naked, blue. I was literally left for dead after he took advantage of me. When I woke up in the hospital, they asked if we had had consensual sex. There was one flash that I had of him on top of me. I saw that flash and I said yes. It wasn't until a month after the overdose that I realised, 'you weren't in any state of mind to make a consensual decision',...

Demi Lovato is taking a different approach to her journey with addiction and sobriety, and her friends are worried. Following her serious overdose in 2018, the 28-year-old singer reveals in her new YouTube docuseries, “Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil”, that she’s not entirely sober. The series premiered at SXSW on Tuesday night ahead of its March 23 premiere on YouTube.

In its earliest moments, Demi Lovato’s new documentary series looks familiar and even comforting to fans of the genre of backstage concert confessionals. We see Lovato doing a pre-show cheer with her backup dancers, performing framed by massive screens of her own face, sleeping on the jet, racing from quick-change to quick-change. Throughout, she is too much a pro to betray any emotion beyond anticipation of what well-rehearsed step lies ahead. These beats are as familiar to the music-doc connoisseur as are any of Lovato’s songs, and they’re only really notable when they’re subverted — like in the masterful 2012 film “Katy Perry: Part of Me,” in which the “Firework” singer, having just been informed that her marriage is over, weeps backstage before forcing herself into the pneumatic tube that leads to the stage and painting a grin on.

‘Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil’ Review: A Wrenching but Slight Examination of an Addict’s Life
[Editor’s note: This review contains references to sexual assault, disordered eating, and the controversial “moderation management” approach to sobriety.]
There has been a rash of docuseries recently about the agency — or lack thereof — of young women in the entertainment industry: “Framing Britney Spears” and “Allen v. Farrow” among them. YouTube Original’s “Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil” is a harrowing variation on the theme: How do you retain any control over the choices in your life when you have a disease that is hellbent on killing you?
Lovato is a Grammy-nominated singer, a queer icon, the rare former Disney kid who writes her own music and performs it with a one-in-100,000,000 voice, and until she almost died in July 2018, she was an addict who didn’t think she could overdose by smoking heroin instead of injecting it.

Few film institutions, and certainly no film festivals, experienced a Covid trial by fire quite as SXSW did last year. The mammoth Austin event — which includes a film festival, a tech conference and its original smorgasbord of musical performances — was the first major film festival to cancel in response to the pandemic when the city of Austin shut it down on March 6, a week before it was supposed to kick off. It was also the first to experiment with streaming some of its programming online, when it partnered with Amazon to present a small selection from its lineup just a month later.
It’s a testament to how much things have changed, and how quickly, that SXSW’s first impromptu foray into virtual festival screenings only saw seven full-length features opt to participate, so new and untested was the model. This year, the festival, which runs virtually from March 16-20, boasts 75 feature films,...

South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festivals announced that the YouTube Originals docuseries “Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil,” directed by Michael D. Ratner, will make its world premiere and kick off the 2021 online event, which runs March 16-20.
