Sex & Nudity

  • Some of the male characters are shown having vaginal sex with fully nude women in virtual reality. A pumping device is attached to the penis to simulate penetration.

  • There are nude women in backgrounds.
  • Rebecca rubs a man's crotch to distract him but this is mainly played for laughs to introduce the character.
  • There are many intimate kissing scenes.
  • Several instances of full frontal nudity with breasts and genitals visible.
  • Graphic sexual intercourse is shown and/or explicitly implied.

Violence & Gore

  • The opening scenes feature a police squad getting attacked by a cyberpsycho. Lots of blood and gore is shown, with cops being shot, blown up and dismembered in brutal fashion.
  • The violence throughout is extremely gory, but it isn't tough to stomach because of the over-the-top cartoonish art style.
  • Characters are regularly shot, dismembered, blown apart and ran over with cars. Severed body parts, organs and blood is often shown onscreen in graphic detail.
  • When shot with guns, people's heads are often blown apart in incredibly gory detail.

Profanity

  • A lot of strong cursing in both the English dub and subtitles. Expect a lot of f-bombs.
  • Non-stop strong and pervasive language, including multiple uses of "f**k", "b*tch", "c*cksucker", "a**hole", and "motherf**ker".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • There's a hefty amount of smoking, drinking and drug use.
  • Characters smoke and drink in every episode.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Violent and gory scenes may be frightening for some viewers.
  • A character goes through a cybernetic implant surgery and gets their spine removed without anesthesia, which is very graphic and gory.
  • This is an incredibly violent and gory anime, and it's filled with tons of adult content. Not for children or the faint of heart.
  • Nightmarish depictions of body horror and mutilations.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • An illness called 'cyberpsychosis' is a key plot element, and affects characters that have too many cybernetic modifications. These characters regularly have to take drugs and immuno-suppressants to keep the illness at bay.
  • The act of modifying body parts is a key aspect of the show's story - excessive body modification causes the person to lose their sanity and grow violent, and could be seen as a metaphor for the dangers of drug/alcohol overuse.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Sometimes, the show is emotionally intense. Especially in the last half as the stakes are raised. Many named characters die in the show, often with no warning whatsoever.
  • A degenerative mental illness called "cyberpsychosis" is a key element of the show. It affects multiple main characters that have too many cybernetic enhancements and causes them to slowly lose their sanity and relive their most traumatic past experiences all at once while also becoming extremely violent. This may be extremely distressing for some viewers.
  • The ending may be emotionally upsetting for some viewers.
