better than expected
The Scooby gang are high-schoolers and relative strangers to each other. Shaggy is friendless. Unadoptable Scooby falls off the truck, runs into ghosts, and falls into Shaggy's lap. They become fast friends. Shaggy brings Scooby in disguise onto the school bus and chaos ensues. The Scooby gang is brought together for detention. Ghosts invade Coolsville High. The gang gets the blame and the suspensions.
This is a live-action made-for-TV origins story for the cartoon friends. It's better than expected. The production is definitely TV level and a full step below the early 2000's movies. The actors are pretty good and fit the characters well. I do wonder if a prequel origin of Scooby Doo should be a few years before this. That way could allow for younger actors and a definitive break from the 2000's movies. On the plus side, this one does give us the Mystery Machine. I would absolutely replace the machine gun model planes. Those should be the ghosts. This could probably add another ten minutes but again it's a TV movie production. One must expect less.
