This German short is state of the art digital animation, it's imagery is arresting, unfamiliar and in places convincingly lifelike to the point of it being impossible to tell how much of the picture is photographic. The dream-like mood holds attention. The clown discovers that his performance is being recorded on a giant camera and thrusts his face through the lens, terrifying his digital audience - except one. The climax (yes it actually develops) is quite startling.
It is not free of the pretensions of the art (gallery art) film and one is uneasy about the notion that this craft skill and imagination is being tied to another go round on the notion of the tackiness of mass entertainment.
