Forget Colour; Stay for Love
Is Mr. Malcolm's list predictable? Yes. Is its casting unrealistic for the period? It most certainly is.
But if you can look past colour and are in love with love and a simple, wholesome, feel-good story, then Mr. Malcolm's List is for you. I am a fan of most things Jane Austen, and Suzanne Allain's very loose adaptation of Austen's most famous novel (my favourite) didn't disappoint me--the movie version, that is. I have yet to read the book.
If you can suspend disbelief for just 117 delightful minutes, then you can enjoy this in-the-box out-of-the-box period piece. And you might just expand your knowledge of the Corn Laws while you're at it.
