In the style of a 1985 soap opera
zhivago9720 October 2021
Has the look and feel of a soap opera from 1985 except with fewer twists, less campiness, no surprises, less suspense and a very long, drawn out plot.

On the plus side, the acting is really good and all the actors seemed believable in their characters. Plus, I love the fact that the creators didn't take themselves too seriously, adding humor throughout, especially in the first half. To me the plot isn't dark enough or gory enough to be horror, it's more like family drama with some wannabe horror moments touching on faux-occult.

The camerawork and musical score are good, but nowadays that's table stakes for most movies, and not something to brag about.

The biggest drawback is that, at two hours, this movie could have been edited down more efficiently to about an hour. Considering there are zero surprises, and the plot is predictable, turning this into two hours literally ruins the movie. Had it been much shorter it would have been far more interesting and the same story could have been told.

One of the best Nollywood movies of the past decade!

I don't think I've seen a Nigerian movie with cinematography this good in recent years The sound editing as well was clean The acting? It was top of the notch Erin from Ramsey Nouah, Swanky, and Munachi Abii The story was quite compelling as well Why it is rated this low really baffles me

Maybe because of movie runtime of funds available for shooting, but I felt they should have built more on the leading actors Character arc like they did for his father in the first installation Albeit a very engaging story, it fell off towards the end, this ending was really questionable, maybe rumours of a sequel are true, if not that will be the only real blemish on this magnificent body of work

A good sequel but a remake would have been far better for good story buildup

I must say I commend the director and his acting too ( Ramsey Nouah).. but the story would have been appreciated if started from the beginning (remake of the first movie in 1992) then later this... but I guess the actors like Kanayo, Okonkwo etc May not cut out the first act nor the sequel and they needed to make sure they are featured in the movie anyways.

Good Cinematography

Compelling story with good acting to go with. Ramsey Nouah is still the very best actor in Nollywood. Sterling performance by the newbie. Cant wait for the next one. Funny how it did not break into the top 5 highest grossing Nollywood movie.

an exquisite production

Living in Bondage was the perfect illustration of the materialistic world ruled by the devil.

An exquisite production from start to finish, cast and crew should clap for themselves as it was a stellar work!

DELICIOUS

-That opening scene with the little girl singing and the car driving through the woods at night, whoa! It was a catchy moment right there😱

-Color grading and cinematography were on point, the close shots of the characters heightened the terror and splendor of the narrative

-Jide Kene Achufusi owned his lead role. He was young, fresh, full of energy, yet, gloomy when it came time to be.

Ramsey was intimidating, the kind of person you don't even want to be stuck with in an elevator 😨 As always Shawn Faqua was the bomb

-The set design correctly reproduced the soul of the story. It properly showcased the materialistic wealth and mysticism

-The storytelling was very clear, the operations of the brotherhood were well explained

-VFX👏

-Amazing and inspiring dialogues

BLAND

-Soundtrack and scene editing was a bit rough -David Jones, playing a journalist, went a little overboard, appearing unnatural in his performance.
