Very entertaining story with great cast. I love Z100 and never knew the story. It's great to see all the faces behind all the voices then and now. Highly recommend!

Pop Culture/Music fans Must Watch

My wife and I watched this together the other night and had a great time. So interesting and entertaining. My wife grew up in NYC in the 80s, so this was so nostalgic for her, and she was practically screaming at the TV. I didn't grow up in New York, but I found the story riveting (and who doesn't like music?!). This is a no brainer. Low investment of time, and high reward. Check it out!

Inspiring and great star interviews

This was the most interesting documentary I've ever seen. There were so many rock stars sharing their personal stories of what it was like to hear their music on the radio for the first time. It's truly amazing how Z100 invented so many new ways to get listeners to battle the giant radio stations and win!

As a native New Yorker, this film brought back incredible memories of the radio station and music I listened to in the 1980's. It reminded me of Scott Shannon's energy and excitement in the morning and Z100's remarkable campaign "From Worse To First". This documentary also reminded me of how much Z100 influenced the music scene during that time period and set trends.

Scott Shannon: "Signing on the air this is the new Z100." Worst to First is the true story of the legendary Z100 New York radio station - following the colorful characters that started the station in the early 1980s, and how they used unconventional and outlandish methods to go from New York City's worst-rated radio station to #1. Is also a documentary about Semi-retired DJ Scott Shannon who invented the zoo morning radio and the multi genre Top 40 radio format as well as being the original program director at New York radio station WHTZ Z100 100.3 FM. Shannon influenced music and radio through out his career. I had the chance in the early 90's to intern at WPLJ 95.5 FM in New York City when Shannon worked there. One time and I think the only time I ever got to meet him and talk to him cause I was a promotions intern was when we got in the elevator together. He ask who I was and told him and he said ok well I'm done for the day and going home. This was like an hour after his show ended. I said well I am going to get the station van and pack it for an event. He laughed at me and said ha ha I get to go home and you still have to work. That was the kind of humor he had.

So if you are a fan of New York radio and grew up listening to Z100 you will like this or if you are a radio nerd or know Scott Shannon, Elvis Duran or Shadoe Stevens you will like this documentary. It also features interviews with people who are part of the early history of Z100 Jon Bon Jovi, Clive Davis, Taylor Dayne, Debbie Gibson, Joan Jett, WPLJ DJ Jim Kerr, Tony Orlando, Geraldo Rivera and Nile Rodgers.
