Yoga For Health always seemed to be around somewhere on ITV in the seventies, either before the evening news or on Sunday mornings before Morning Worship. From what I remember of it, it always had this hippyish, stoned vibe to it- well it was made in 1970- and the setting looked like the kind of place John Lennon would practice transcendental meditation in.
Yet for all it looks hippyish and dated now, Yoga For Health was a very influential show and introduced millions to yoga. Basically, like the keep fit features on breakfast television in the eighties, the audience were expected to keep up with top American yoga guru Richard Hittleman and his students, Lynn Marshall( later a very successful yoga presenter on her own) and Cheryl, as they went through their paces. Yoga For Health really made yoga into the very popular health and exercise regime it is now in Britain and it's a shame we no longer have these shows on the television.
