Really great for women (and men too)
emmanueleze-8329021 September 2021
In a world where women are pressured to look better than they are, and live above their means, this show serves as a great tool of financial education to guide them into sensible organisation of their finances and the benefits of delayed gratification. Oh, and it's entertaining too! Fantastic acting!

I don't know what's with the music production though, seems like the same songs were on repeat in every episode.

Funny.

The culture is on point, and I get a lot of laughs. It's great to see black women as the main - so refreshing - although what would be more refreshing and powerful is to see black women rock their natural hair. The wigs are dialing the black girl magic a little down.

But the production is great, and I enjoy the dynamics of the characters.

Can We Please All Watch This?

What a fantastic TV series! My wife and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. The characters are four fashionable women with interesting jobs and various not-so-great relationships. Sound familiar? Sex & the City with black people? No. Even better. Because, woven into every episode is advice for women on financial matters, even to the point of a short text highlight that states the educational point of that episode. Sounds heavy-handed, I know, but it isn't. The series is set in Lagos, Nigeria and there are often portals into understanding the city itself, as well as following the young women's lives.

We have so many younger friends (male and female) who manage their own money so poorly and yet don't seem to clue in to the mess they are making for themselves. This series has the answers, and they are couched in an entertaining TV series about beautiful women in stylish clothes navigating through their 20s and 30s. A masterpiece! Let's all watch it, okay?

Loved It All! Awesome Actresses! Entertaining Fashionable & Educational!!! These writers and directors were so on point. I started watching this a while ago, but stopped within the 1st few mins. I completely forgot to go back. I'm soooo glad I backtracked. This series had me begging for more. I'm a major fan of these women and men now. More, Please!

"The real Housewives of Lagos high society"
owena1330 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
"The real Housewives of Lagos high society" would have been a more befitting title for this show as the depiction of Lagos was extremely far from the true Lagos over 14 million Lagosians live and breathe everyday.

Which is henceforth my problem with a lot of Nigerian/Nollywood productions which tend to go over and beyond trying to prove that a luxury western lavish lifestyle can be experienced and is standard for most in an African city. This is simply not true. It is as almost as though the true objective of the production gets lost in motion as showcasing all this pretentious fluff and puff becomes more of a priority and it is embarrassing.

SPOILER***The characters were extremely one dimensional. There was no background story as to how any of the ladies got to their respective positions.

Zuri appears on the screen having returned from an expensive trip (which most in real life can't afford) and is suddenly unable to pay her bills despite having a well paying job. Ladun's father in law dies leaving them broke but their family is still able to maintain a lifestyle that few Lagosians can only dream off. Tami is able to maintain her business with loans from Daddy. No explanation as to how she is even able to get clients when her talents are supposedly sub-par. No explanation as to how Lara was able to become an oil executive despite her impoverished background etc.

The only one with a plausible situation was Adesuwa and her dodgy jobless husband and bitter mother in law.**** END SPOILER

If one is going to make a show about smart money woman in Lagos, then give us true nitty gritty Lagos in all its true hustle and bustling glory and not an alternative one experience by a small minority, showcasing pretentious wine bars and other glossy establishments, fabulous fashions, fancy dining venues and Cheesy American slang.

Nollywood continues to fall my hand.

I am impressed. And I am rarely with 9ja movies/series. But am here at 1am watching this. It connects the dots. Kudos to the effort. Arese kudos. Dealing with money is a rarely discussed topic yet everyone blames income. This addresses expenses and management principles. At the heartbeat of it is transparency with self and those one can hold accountable.
