Beginner's Luck or a Skilled First-time Feature?

Warning: Spoilers
The Road to Sundance is a very strong feature film for a first-time writer, a first-time co- director, first-time actors, and a shoe string budget. The performances are solid and the scenes are engaging. I had fun watching the film from beginning to end and cared about the lives portrayed, a testament to good writing.

It's a forward thinking piece with a diverse cast and a progressive storyline about a young woman, who suddenly finds herself in charge of her husband's cast and crew when he passes away unexpectedly. Despite being a bit long, the movie was fun and enjoyable with warm and heartfelt characters, that I missed when the film was over. Not bad for a movie about making a movie.

A very sweet movie...

I thought this was a very sweet movie. It had layers of story line which were revealed in each scene. From the main characters who was an actor trying to find himself, perfect his craft as well as struggle with his love life. To the complexity of the Writer/Director's character who was coping with the death of her husband and simultaneously struggling to produce a film and move on from the loss of the love of her life. It reminded me of the classic love stories that we don't often see theses days like "Say Anything", "Serendipity" and "Crossing Delancey". I would definitely recommend this film to others.

A lot of Heart!

The Road to Sundance has a lot of heart and a lot of hope. There are many great moments throughout the film where I could catch a glimpse of the true talent and potential of the filmmakers and the lead actor and actress. There is also a wonderful arc to the main male character's journey through the story as well as a great sense of warmth and family bolstered by the likable ensemble cast.

I look forward to following the careers of Robert Petrarca (perfectly cast for the role of Brandon, which he delivers with great angst, humor, and truth), and Simone Cook (who brings a natural composure and intelligence to her performance as Reese Knight).

The Road to Sundance Worth Taking
kbarrykane200116 January 2011
A funny and heartfelt film about the trials of love, relationships and the pitfalls of trying to break into the movie industry.

This film is a gem.

Truly, a laugh out loud comedy with poignant moments. Not at all formulaic and with characters we come to care about and whose stories are not usually shown in more generic films. The Road to Sundance takes you on a journey through the ups and downs of filmmakers and actors while revealing the laughter and sadness of each of the characters along the way. It's a great ride and I would definitely recommend "The Road to Sundance"!
