Sex & Nudity

  • A scene takes place in a strip club where there are lots of half naked dead people (see violence & gore), breast are shown
  • Montage of brief shots of a high school boy and girl in the boy's bedroom. Most of the time they are using the title object, but in one scene he is lifting up her blouse so that her bra can be seen.
  • A young girl asks her boyfriend if he would kill any guy who fucks her.
  • In the nightclub montage, a few people are briefly shown in kink outfits with partial nudity (shirtless, short shorts, women in lingerie). No private areas or butts are shown.
  • There were a few kisses and intimate moments. Some bikini women.

Violence & Gore

  • Some bullies beating people.
  • A lot of dead people and blood everywhere is shown in a strip club.
  • A man gets knocked over and lands on a man while eating dinner with a knife pointing to his neck and is accidentally impaled. Orangish blood gushes out of his mouth.
  • A man, who was holding a woman hostage, walks out of a building, lets go of the woman, and then gets run over by an SUV. He is shown being splattered, only briefly though
  • Through montages, we see a man's head blow up (we see blood and matter scatter), some destruction of buildings, a man get a heart attack, and a group of people walk off a tall building. There is a very brief shot of one of the bodies impacting the sidewalk with some blood.
  • A man gets shot offscreen. Another man chases a young man with a gun, which he fires in the air, but doesn't harm the young man. The gun wielding man get knocked out by a witness so the young man can escape.
  • A young woman watches a horror movie where a character's eyes get gouged out, possibly a Saw-like movie. It happens quickly.
  • The story involves a notebook in which you can write a persons name and they die. Unlike the manga/anime, most deaths are very graphic and gory. However, the over-the-top/sudden impact of the gore makes it more humorous than frightening.

Profanity

  • A teen couple give a photographer the finger during a high school dance
  • There are 38 uses of "fuck". There are also uses of as ""shit", "damn", "bitch", and "asshole".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One of the main protagonists smokes casually.
  • An adult man drinks at dinner
  • A young boy is given medication to sedate him

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The deaths may be intense for some viewers.
  • The gruesome deaths could be frightening for some viewers.
  • There are some mildly intense sequences.
  • Ryuk can appear menacing and threatening, but his humor makes him less scary. Very similar to the anime
  • People die in horrifying logical and realistic accidents by a boy writing their name down in a magical book
  • Rated TV-MA for horror violence/gore, language throughout, and some sexual content.

Violence & Gore

  • The main protagonist gets beaten by a bully.
  • A girl falls from a height and dies after she hits a flower stand. Some blood on her face. Her boyfriend also falls, but lands in the water and survives
  • A teen boy gets sedated and goes to the hospital. Two people involved with his rescue die in seemingly suicidal ways, one jumps from a building and another one gets carbon monoxide poisoning, with some blood present with the former.
