Sacrifices one has to make in the name of love. For me, what the film is trying to to convey is that the circumstances in the story are just so real. It can happen especially in places where there's no legal recognition of same sex union. If you are you someone who are nursing a broken heart for whatever reason can really make you melancholic in a way. Acting wise, its not over the top, just the right amount of pink salt here and there. I like the light-heartedness in the scene where he asked his mother in law if she really is in pain. And the boy, (Yo Yun) was on point, and mind you, he's just a little boy in real life. Anyway, after watching the movie, i sang this song "Kiss today goodbye And point me toward tomorrow We did what we had to do Won't forget, can't regret What I did for Love".

Will you sacrifice for your love

I came across this film by chance. "Dear Tenant" is beautiful and meaningful storytelling. It's a slow burn movie that unveil (quite) predictable story. What I like are in the early of the film that underline the legal matter of the gay couple, stellar performance from lead actor, and very good soundtrack (but honestly I don't fully understand the ending song). I think asian people will understand more of context and being relatable to Mr. Lin repression. However, I don't like some part of the storyline esp. The story that Mr Lin wrote to the boy.

Overall is good and recommended.

Ps. Camping scene location is so nice!

Conclusively devastating

Cheng Yu-Chieh composed some normative issues like same-sex partnership, parenting and multi-generational relationships into conclusively devastating Taiwanese family drama. Mok & little Bai's exquisite performances brought such pain and love in equal degree.

A slow pace movie that slowing guide u into their emotion without knowing. A warm touching movie move u to tears easily by their natural acting and lines. Now it's still giving me a great impact after 2 weeks watching this movie. Can see the two actor's speech from this show winning the golden horse award to show how should a great actor they are.

Small Asian Film Big on Issues - Dear Tenant
arthur_tafero8 November 2022
This is a small-budgeted Asian film; the kind that usually falls through the cracks of general acceptance by the movie-going public, when, in fact, it is better than at least 70% of the other films out there. It does not have name actors or special effects, it just has a simple story that is simply told. And that is what makes independent filmmaking so important. It tells stories that the formula Hollywood films do not tell. It has characters that are much more believable and heartfelt than superhero films or animation movies. It is a movie for everyday people who live in Asia (Taiwan), but it could be about any child in any country who is in this unfortunate condition. Kudos to the producer and director for providing us with a heartfelt tale such as this one.

To learn acting

Story is dramatic but it's not too over. A warm heart gay cares the senior and a kid but treated as a suspect of an incidence. Story is quite predictable and its quite heartwarming for his act. I focus on the acting of the actor more in this movie. Somehow acting cannot be taught and born to be have this talent. I got a feeling actor Mok is one of the kind.
