Being human in the midst of inhumanity

A very bold approach to expose the crisis of humanity that (unfortunately) is a part of our reality right now. The story was very neat (with some surprises here and there) and the visuals of this film are very unique and beautifully crafted. It's not that explicit in terms of imagery, but can definitely nudge your sense of morality. It deserves more attention and hopefully can bring about more action to this issue.

Hard Times

A low poly animated film, a bit sentimental at times considering the horrific nature of the story but then again a difficult story to tell. This harsh reality is hard for us to imagine going on in our modern age. The image North Korea seeks to portray to the world, like neighbouring PRC is a world away from the reality that some of their citizens face. And for no more reason than wanting things to be different. The film is worth a watch but sadly i don't think it will change the way things are.

Great movie from beginning to end

Eventhough the animation was not really modern, it does tell a story very very well. At some point you just forget it is an animation.

We need more animated movies like this! An animation that used as a medium to tell story about reality that happening now in the world. It's not your typical 3D animation but it has its own charm and deliver the message well

True or propaganda?

Interesting story but hard to tell if it is really based on the true situation there, or a western propaganda film. Worth watching though.

Beautifully made movie. True stories. True lives are at harms way. Will this be the start of their revolution? Will your mindless leaders take a stand? You are the hero in this masterpiece. I hope this movie will get the ratings to show itself to the world. You are the hero. Take a stand!

beautiful film

Once you begin watching this film, it's hard to turn away. Documents the atrocities that evil North Korea commits against his own citizens. Haunting and sad, something that you must see, because it exists today and nothing is being done to stop it.

Will Keep you Thinking Long After You Leave the Theater

Really wise use of anime to tell an otherwise, very hard to watch story. The characters are approachable and the story moves at a really good pace. This isn't the kind of movie you watch and forget about quickly. You'll be thinking about the plight of this family and so many like it long after the credits roll.
