It's safe to say that French Biriyani works best as a tribute to the cosmopolitan city of Bengaluru over all else. As someone who has lived in the city for many years, I was able to catch most of the inside jokes easily. That said, one out of every five or six jokes in French Biriyani directed by Pannaga Bharana, was packed with sexual innuendos. The story, as the makers would want it, is a giant comedy of errors. Absurdity permeates through every character and proves to be the film's soul.
Danish Sait, as autorickshaw driver Asgar, was spot on in his body language and accent. He seems well on his way to becoming Kannada cinema's Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat, Bruno, The Dictator), carving out a niche of his own in comedy. The same can be said for Sal Yusuf, who I've seen in minor roles in quite a few Malayalam films in the last decade. Rangayana Raghu, as police officer Mahadev, and Michael Madhu as don Powder Charles, also amp up the absurd comedy quotient. There's also a subplot about child conception that's both laugh-worthy and farcical.
On the flip side, not all jokes land well, even if you exclude the double entendres. The songs, while not too out-of-place, aren't hummable. Also, as the film makes its way to the climax that fittingly takes place at the "Climax Theatre", there's so much chaos happening that you stop caring about the outcome of it all. More so because the scripting isn't as effective.

Personally, I wanted to watch this movie only because Danish was a part of it. This beginning his second movie wasn't that bad of an attempt too. He carries his role with precision. Though a lot more work on the plot at the storyline could have been done. The movie could make you laugh if you don't look at too critically. A good one time watch, expecting the kannada industry to bring more young and rising talent up like this always.

This film is one of the examples, when post production process is took in hurry. The First 30 minutes might make you feel boring. But after that, the movie comes to track. Though the movie has no intresting plot, but the cast members performed there roles very well. If you are expecting atleast a comedy relief, this movie is a decent watch. As it is released on OTT, the movie's songs and bgm is very bad (you need to skip the songs). Don't go for watching it with huge expectations. I call it a decent one time watchable movie.

Watched this movie for a 15 minutes just for Danish Sait. Also had high hopes on the direction, seeing credentials of the director.
The movie goes nowhere and the comedy is sparse. Over acting in the name of comedy and showing India in poor light is also distasteful.
Truly disappointed with the way the film industry is producing movies not worth watching.

Fully Faltu movie, watchable...villian (mahantesh herimath) has done fantastic job, his comic sense is too good, you will enjoy his character...too many references like Pablo Escobar, so if you don't know the reference, then you might find the movie boring...but if you have watched those reference, you will love it...dani should have been given his own screenplay for Asghar, he would have done better job... Overall I liked the movie...
Only Danish and Raghu are good! Movie gives an headache!

Danish has great potential and his screen presence itself brings smile on face. Script is utter nonsense. Angrez and Hyderabad Nawabs clicked well in Telugu but this Kannada version lacked a good story. The don character and his gang is a huge letdown. I wish Danish good scripts in the days to come.

Watch this movie for Danish Sait.... Fresh acting skills with stupendous comic timing. Yes the plot is weak but Danish as Asgar ensures that you are not bored even for a minute. I am sure critics will come heavy on this movie but again it is not necessary that every movie should have emotions or fight scenes. The concept is a fresh one for the Kannada audience and this movie surely going to fetch a lot for Danish Sait's sandalwood career. A light hearted movie with a lot laughter filled in it. A movie makes a start but here a star has made this movie a watchable one.

Danish, Disha and the other were a treat to watch them perform.
Besides them everything was lost in translation. It felt like chewing paan wondered when I would spew it out.
There was a constant annoyance at the prop except for sacha's portrait as dictator.
I feel a lot could have straightend especially with the story line.
Storyline : 4/10
Sarcasam : 9/10
Unnecessary English Profanity : 10/7
Settings : 5/10
Acting : 7/10
Overall I wish it had been different and hoped it would have fulfilled the title.

A comedy of errors that is very aware of itself and packed with jokes galore.
Simon (Sal Yusuf) is a French National who comes to Bangalore to attend a conference, but due to a strike he couldn't find his pickup guy, and instead is picked up by Suleiman (Pitobash Tripathy) who mistakes him as a smuggler bringing goods for his Don Muscle Mani (Mahantesh Hiremath). When Suleiman's car is stopped by strikers, Simon gets out and takes the auto of Ashgar (Danish Sait). Then follows a crazy journey, as both Gangsters and Police chases Simon and Ashgar.
The movie is filled with good jokes and punchlines and some of them are bound to make you go ROFL and some are very subtle and highly aware of what's going on in the country. The "racist" joke (pun!) in the police station between Simon and the Inspector is absolutely hilarious, the scene where the cow eats up Simon's mobile and everyone offers suggestions is very witty and deftly done. A crazy man in lock up imagines himself as a Great Magician is humorous, insightful and serendipitous. The movie is so self aware that the climax takes place in a theater named Climax Theatre. Acting honours definitely go to Danish and Mahantesh. The director did a good job of tying up all the sub-plots and providing a neat finish. The cinematography is adequate and this is the first Bengaluru movie I saw where the IT parks were not shown while capturing the rustle and bustle of the Garden City very nicely, a commendable job. The music is very experimental but the songs do not interrupt the proceedings.
The long gaps between the gags sometimes frustrates and the editing could have been tighter. The background noise was unnecessarily high at times.
Overall a funny experimental comedy that laughs at itself and the society that is worth watching.

The movie opens with the intension of serving the platter full of comedy entertainer for the start 2 hours. And it begins the same way, but towards the end of the first half it's nothing but all pandemonium.
Avinash Balekkala's writing is as much Confused as the character of Simon is in the movie. I wish Pannaga Bharana had directed "French Biriyani" first and next the "Happy New year," Al least then I wouldn't have the same problem that I've now with his direction.
I'm not saying French Biriyani is completely non-sense, the movie had its fair amount of the laughs. But, it didn't not work out as a complete package. Felt like I'm watching some various clips of comedy scenes from a different movies. There wasn't any proper vision in the story telling.

Had no expectation from this movie just watched, movie turned out to be a fun watch, no brainer movie, Danish Sait is funny, enjoyed comedy of errors, Charles was awesome along with his son.

It's a laugh riot 🤡🤡🤡 one can easily pass on time without going outside during this pandemic. Good choice of actors all have done their justice. Lags were found here and there but can be ignored. Biriyani will not disappoint you but french Biriyani could have been more spicy.

The movie captures all the aesthetics of Bengaluru life. Every actor perfectly fits the role and excellent acting from everyone.
The best part of the movie is it does not feature any unnecessary punch dialogues, no eighties style song, no overrated scenes, and mostly importantly is not a star focused.
Every role is given good importance. A fun and entertaining movie to watch, connects well with present life in my city.

Not worth your time, the jokes seem to be forced upon us! All the actors try too hard to make audience laugh! The effort goes in vain as the script is lazy with whatsapp jokes and slap stick comedy.
Had great expectations from Danish Sait and the movie!

The movie story is very simple but the way the director took the movie is very good. You will be engaged throughout the movie. But, there are some double meaning which may not be comfortable while watching with family. But surely a very good entertainer. A BIGGGGG CHERRRRRRRSSSS!!!

Watch it only for Danish Sait and to tap few new talent's shoulders.Second half ran through real quick which the first half mainly lacked. Danish is good in his character and so is Rangayana Raghu. Few comedy sequences in the movie are really good. Watch with zero expectations and you will not regret it.

Its just a comedy movie which depeds on comic timing and situational comedy. There is no scope for much of logic.
Casting is the strength of this movie.We already know about Danish Sait and Rangayana Raghu. Mahantesh as Muscle Mani is a good find and perfectly fits his role. Sal Yusuf is outstanding, I just read about them after watching them in this movie though. Everyone has done their part very well. Chikkanna's small role evokes much of the laughter.
Only did the director concentrated on storyline, it would have become a much better movie, with such a good cast. Especially the climax where the characters seems to find their destiny appears to be very much artifitial even for a no-logic comedy movie.
Overall, it is a timepass movie to kill your time when you are bored.
