An ok episode except for eva

Warning: Spoilers
There has been a few issues with this episode.... But the major one I had was a corporate fixer being put in charge of military fighter jets????? Seriously in what universe would this even fly? Are the writers really that lazy, that's the best they could come up with? Maybe, for the purpose of this episode Eva had the backing of the dod, as far as costs go, but never, ever would a bean counter be put in charge of military jets.

Not Even a Little Subtle

...OK, so while I appreciate Eureka's attempt for a reshuffle style of reboot with the beginning of each season so far, this one feels forced. Business Shark Eva has been hired to "fix" what is broken at GD. If we can just pretend that an uber-level-classified research and development facility which is over-seen by the DoD would even entertain having a business-only contractor come in to overhaul an entire town (which is a pretty big ask...), and knowing that Eureka is populated with families with inflated and sensitive egos, and knowing that this special population has been coddled in some ways in order to get the productivity out of them that GD requires, it makes NO SENSE that abrasive Eve with the poor listening skills would be sent in to overhaul the place. This is difficult to overcome through the entire episode. So while there is humor, and it seems that the lives of the residents of Eureka are back on track after all of the trauma from season two, it was a rocky start. Let's hope that the writers figure out how to integrate Eva a little better and that the season finds its feet.

Missed ending

Warning: Spoilers
I DVR'd the second showing, unfortunately (Direct TV). Martha had come home and Francis Fisher was about to chew our gang out. What happened after that?

Also, does anyone know how to watch this program (and Doctor Who) on the Internet? I have tried, but estimates of Doctor Who downloading ran back and forth between one day and three days! I am running a MacBook Pro (with OS 10.5) with 4G of ram and plenty of room on my hard drive.

All in all, I found the episode to be a "check your brainer" but nonetheless fun. (The downsizing bit was quite ridiculous.) I am hoping that someone can help me with the afore- mentioned questions.

Season 3 not off to a good start

Warning: Spoilers
I've always enjoyed this show; it has an amusing charm and Colin Ferguson does the physical comedy well. Unlike some, I've no problems with the way the Carter, Allison, Stark triangle plays out - I would have been fine had she ended up with Carter or Stark. The science on the show seemed grounded enough to straddle both the fantasy elements of sci-fi and the real- world/possible elements of reality.

However, this episode was exceedingly disappointing, largely due to the very lazy and simplistic writing, particularly the solutions to further the plot. Given that this episode is written by the same people that have essentially been the writing half of nearly every other episode, it is even more disappointing. For example, given the episode HOUSE RULES, it makes no sense that a drone (no matter how souped up) could easily overcome S.A.R.A.H. in order to "spring" Zoe out. I can understand why the writers did it and its necessity to the plot, but they could just as easily have the Martha drone intercept Zoe in front of Sarah (which could even have lead to a neat shoot out scene between Martha and Sarah).

The freezer of Cafe Diem was particularly uninspired and visually boring. And what kind of decent restaurant puts fresh items in a freezer? It also does not follow logic that Zane Donovan would have the kind of ideals, politics (and opinions about authority) that he displays in E-MC...? and then all of sudden agree to be in charge of a purely military scientific application. It also begs logic that the DOD, after a history of $400 plus toilet seats, would all of a sudden hire some corporate downsizer to help them oversea a crowd of scientific minds (or that the creative scientists would put up with it). If their contracts don't mean anything to the DOD and they would just buy them out, why wouldn't say Carter tell Eva Thorne where she could put her pretty graphs and charts and quit -- heading back to LA with Zoe and to his ex-wife? Especially with Allison marrying his foe?

Just a sad, generally badly written episode.

If this is any indication.....

of what's on tap for the rest of this series, then I think it's time to pull the plug on one of my favorite shows. I was thrilled that they were bringing Eureka back for a third season. I'd hoped it'd hang in there for ten just like Stargate SG1. Why on earth the writers thought to bring in some corporate meat head to shake things up is beyond me. I thought the writing for this episode was horrid and the acting from that afore mentioned meat head was worse than horrid. I've worked for the government and I can tell you without a shred of doubt that the military would NEVER allow some corporate dummy in one of it's top secret projects to for any reason whatsoever. And while I'm at it let me say that I HATE IT when you less than genius writers work for two seasons to develop a romance between two leading characters and then turn it around and ruin the whole damn thing for no reason. What the hell is that???? Are you all so afraid of love that you can't get it past the googly eyes portion of the game? How about for once forming something that lasts for the entire run of the show? Is that so much to ask? Build a life for the show around a relationship your viewers want to see instead of letting the jerk get the girl all the time. Sheesh. Screw it up some more and I'm gone.
