Regardless of if you live in 1970's Taiwan, or the United States now a days, you will love, and relate to Crystal Boys
sitboy235 November 2011
There is perhaps no show that can better capture the pain, suffering, loneliness yet sheer and utter joy of homosexuality as "Crystal Boys". Originally a book by the Taiwanese master author Bai XianYong, it was later made into a (bad) film, and later this simply stunning mini-series.

Crystal boys tells the story of Ah Qing, a young man kicked out of school and home after being caught in a homosexual act. Taking refuge in the only place he can, a park, he soon learns of the way of life for him and the other "brids" who take refuge here; along with him are his friends Xiao Yu, who dreams of moving to Japan to find his father, Lao Shu (Mouse) who wants to do nothing more than pity thievery, and Xiao Min, who only wants to be loved. Inter winded with the tragic tale of two lovers long since gone, it is rare when people outside of the Chinese Speaking world can find such a treasure, but for those who do, they see not only a tragic story, but a TV show with wonderful music, cinematography and will leave the watcher touched for days.
