The movie is basically a couple getting stressed out & having a mental breakdown for an hour over doing terrible things they regret. If you enjoy watching people be overdramatic, snort too much meth & think someone is out to get them with no real villain present in the entire film then this one's for you.

Really Boring & Seems Like A College Film School Project

Warning: Spoilers
Deeply unsubtle & unconvincing, not at all engaging
I_Ailurophile30 August 2022
I'll be honest, right from the start this rather struggles. The premise could be interesting. The first fifth of the picture to greet us suggests that it could quite reasonably have proven to be a low-budget, understated psychological thriller, confined to a single space, to great success. Unfortunately, the most promising ideas conflict with the heightened sensibilities about the movie's construction, and that's to say nothing of the ways in which it plainly falters. Sadly, 'Sinful' fails to inspire.
In and of itself Toshiyuki Hiraoka's music is decent, if uneven, serving up pervasive soundscapes that lend an air of tension. That factor would be more meaningful if it were less prominent in the audio mix - and if the movie were more nuanced. However, the scene writing, characters, and sound effects immediately come across as blunt, frankly over the top, and therefore annoying. Whether stars Nicole D'Angela and Christina Lo are to blame or filmmaker Rich Mallery I don't know (I tend to give actors the benefit of the doubt, as they can only work with what they are given), but the performances drawn out here likewise seem entirely too forthright and unsubtle for the piece's best interests, if not also inauthentic. Dialogue is flagrantly unconvincing and sometimes repetitive, somewhat pulling one out of the viewing experience. Useful to a small extent to provide background information, the cuts to shots and scenes outside the active narrative are overused.
While it establishes that characters Salem and Remy are romantically involved, 'Sinful' doesn't do a good job of giving this facet any importance in the story. In one place or another we've all seen the tired representation of two women passionately kissing and spending all their time together as merely "gal pals," and the screenplay rather seems to treat the relationship here just as lightly, with no more seriousness. Plot development feels scattered and carries no real weight - a pity, because it definitely should. The movie tries to build a sense of mystery, and cements strained dynamics between the characters in the scenario, but as it presents the narrative is less than believable at any point.
I really do think there are some good ideas here, but this is a concept that required a substantially more delicate hand, a far more mindful approach. What we get is instead immensely heavy-handed, heedless, and kind of outright flimsy - and predictable. Even noting poor reception I sat to watch with hope in my heart, but that hope was quickly dashed. There are countless other movies you could watch instead; you don't need to spend time with 'Sinful.'

Reservoir Dogs without depth

D'angelo and Lo do a decent job as the lesbian drug addicts hiding out after a heist gone terribly wrong. Unfortunately the story is way to thin. It reminded me a lot about Reservoir Dags, only nothing really happens. We first meet the girls as they enter their hideaway and just as in RD the story is told through their conversation and some short flashbacks.
Unfortunately Tarantino isn't involved, so it falls a bit flat. I don't know if the version I saw was edited for TV or not but any sexual action between the females was cut off and nude scenes didn't show anything you don't see in non nude scenes.
It wasn't annoyingly bad, but rather predictable and the only things keeping it from being completely boring was the actresses and the fact that it was really short.

Give a 16yr old film student a iPhone 11 and they could make a better film.

My friend and I stumbled upon this trailer on youtube accidentally and then challenged each other to see who could watch the entire film. Welp, neither one of us could.
The problem with beautiful cameras nowadays is that everyone thinks they can make a movie. This movie is honestly one of the worst things I've ever attempted to watch in my 30 years of life. The writing is absolutely trash, the acting is trash, the entire film is absolute trash. Rich Mallery, the creepy looking writer of this trash, is clearly living out a fantasy. "Lesbian" movie written by creepy male and directed by two other creepy guys, yeah sure.
Please do yourself and do not watch this flaming dumpster of a movie. Well, unless you're having a contest of who can suggest the worst movie of all time.
Neither my friend nor I could make it all the way through this. It was just completely unbearable. The acting, the acting, omg, Nicole and Christina, please stop acting and go work at Panera Bread.

Warning: Spoilers
Wow this is a mess of a film. The photography is amateurish & the script and portrayal of the protagonists sent me to sleep. I get the director was trying to make an edgy film about 2 lovers being in a "strange house". There is no chemistry between the two female leads & this is exacerbated by the fact the "intimate scenes" cut away like they do in a day time soap opera. Please avoid this unless you require something to send you to sleep. This film commits the mortal sin of being a movie about which you don't care about the "big reveal".
Ridiculous waste of time

If you like to watch two paranoid female drug addicts fighting, screaming, yelling and having mental breakdowns constantly, you will love this movie. Me, not so much. Shame on all the friends and family of the cast and crew who give high fake reviews. You should be ashamed of yourself. This is nothing but pure garbage from beginning to end!
Wasn't very good

Warning: Spoilers
This movie boasts it was safely made under Covid-19 protocols, which apparently now involves a lack of a coherent storyline or interesting characters.
So these two lesbian characters are hiding out at a house they don't own, waiting for an accomplice to bring them fake ID, and doing vast quantities of drugs. Every time you think you are going to get a sex scene, they break it off.
By the end of the movie, you get the idea that reality has become unhinged and the characters are in Hell because they murdered the Asian girl's family.... which the viewer can empathize with, watching this was pretty much like eternal torment.
Avoid at all costs.

The two females go on the run after committing a crime. The two actresses really grow on you and the drama and dialogue really does keep you wanting more. The acting could have been better but they made it work. I'll help them out with 7 stars to keep the film popular. Watch it!
Entertaining

It's not bad

I wasn't to sure if I should watch this after looking at the reviews but I gave it a go anyway. I think the 2 lovers had good chemistry. Yes it could have been better but it was enough for me to keep watching. It had it's own originality the way it was shot and I don't want to give away too much but it was honestly a a film worth watching with friends at home. The writing, script could have been better but they still made it work. Support this film so the filmmaker can continue making great films and progress!
Sinful!

A movie full of sin but in a good way! Nicole D'Angelo and Christina Lo were absolute superstars in this movie and they need the credit they rightfully deserve. I think given the time constraint and the way this was shot, they didn't do the film any justice but I thought it was still entertaining and not a waste of time.

I have a feeling more men would like this then women. I thought it was a great film with good editing and dialogue. The director is known for making films like this so he does have a cult following for this stylistic filmmaking. Either way I'm a fan and keep the movies coming
Honest Review
charliefilmcritic17 August 2020
I've seen so many people slam this film but is it honestly that bad? NO. Could it have been better? Yes. The storyline is entertaining I'll give them that. A newly wed couple go on the run after committing a crime as they then get trapped in a mysterious house. Things get hectic from here on in. It has great up's and down's and the production is high quality but I felt it was dragging a little bit. The film could have been cut down a little shorter and perhaps it would appeal more to the masses.
Great for what it is
