Another Great Episode
MamadNobari972 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As many have said, this episode feels like we're watching Breaking Bad deleted scenes.

It's really funny to me to see all the negative reviews saying this is boring or unironically saying "it's 2022 and we shouldn't have black and white". Because I really don't know what people want, first everyone said we need full episodes of Gene, and now they say they're boring? Like do they want at least 1 kill per episode so they don't call it a "filler" and boring?

Anyway, this episode again has some of the best editing and transitions of this show, and these great editings and cinematography help to make the episodes less boring despite what the negative reviews said.

Personally, I would be fine with them not showing Waltuh and Jesse at all. Because they had 5 seasons and a movie to show and complete their story, there isn't much left to show other than these scenes that feel like deleted and bonus scenes from Breaking Bad. It's like beating a dead horse. We've seen everything we needed from Walt, Jesse, Saul, Mike, and Gus, so there's no need to force more stuff in just because.

But they know what they're doing and aren't just doing it for fanservice.

This episode had some great editing showing the parallels between Gene and Saul Goodman, showing that his thirst for Slippin' can never be quenched even after all that happened in Breaking Bad and after every policeman in the states is looking for him.

All in all, I thought this episode was really great and enjoyed it a lot, I don't really know what more people expect from this show, like putting aside how dumb the "black and white hurts my tiny brain" argument for a second, you've already seen that all Gene scenes are black and white, so why do you expect the full Gene episodes not to be? And what did you expect by demanding full Gene episodes that these look boring to you? An hour of him selling cinnabons to the mall customers?

And I personally don't expect them to go full Breaking Bad timeline with it, because as I said, we've seen all the characters' arcs and stories except Gene Takavic to their fullest, so I'm fine if all the episodes are about Gene anyway.

Original episode piecing the mosaic together
tristan_192 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
In typical Breaking Bad slash Better Call Saul fashion, the episode features a great and lengthy phone call. Francesca is such an important part of Saul's life. We get phenomenal reveals, such as the confirmation that Skyler got her deal. Huell has left the couch. Kim has also contacted Francesca regarding Jimmy, who asks news about Kuby. Bill has also redirected his career.

Alternating black and white and color, and navigating two timelines, we get to see Gene's machinations and chicanery. He goes after people with money and take pictures of credit cards and stuff. While this is going on, we get more light shined on Walt, Jesse and Mike in the BB timeline. Jesse enquires about Lalo, and Mike has done his research on Heisenberg.

At the end of the episode, you get a terrible feeling. It probably means the beginning of the end, and that shot of Jimmy breaking and entering into that guy's house, who has cancer too by the way, is ominous as hell. You get the feeling he might not come back from this. After all, the last time he dealt with someone with cancer, everything started to fall and derail. Marion looked suspicious also in that one scene, in her room.

I genuinely loved the dynamic of this episode. It is unique, original, well filmed and edited, and is probably building towards something huge. As the series finale's title suggests, it doesn't bode well for Saul.

Damn
gabriel20006 August 2022
The way this episode makes me feel a deep sadness inside my gut is phenomenal. It's like we finally understand what Chuck was talking about all along. It's Slippin' Jimmy all along. "Oh, he'll never change!", Chuck was right. We see a man finally loosing to his psychological problems he never really addressed.

Just like Walter White he can't let go of his massive ego.

The writers really are threading a hairline here of providing something truly deep and meaningful while still being entertaining.

I am glad they didn't sell out and keep the focus on the art rather then pure entertainment.

Unique storytelling masterpiece
suleymn2 August 2022
I don't care what anybody says, this episode was literally perfect. You couldn't have done it better. So much meaning in the scenes and the parallels. The storytelling is simply impeccable and something I never saw in any TV show. Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad do what no show or movie ever did, and that's special. They complement each other in a way we'll never see again, so enjoy these last 2 episodes. We're witnessing TV history.

They're Actually Going To Pull It Off
Art_Of_Film_3P2 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Obviously there's still two episodes left - and anything can happen - but if this antepenultimate chapter in the Vince Gilligan Universe is anything to go by, they're going to pull off the perfect conclusion to two seperate TV shows (and a Film).

Exceptional writing and direction as always, and expertly weaving the collision of multiple storylines from completely separate, yet collateral, shows. Bob Odenkirk deserves all the awards this year.

NO LALO!! IT WAS IGNACIO!!

Warning: Spoilers
WOW JUST WOW. Everything I expected and more. The Gene/Jeff story is get much much more interesting. I love the closure than Jimmy got with the phone call with franchesca, even though it wasnt so much of happy closure for jimmy w kim, atleast we got something. Jesse asking about Lalo made my fanboy senses tingle so hard. This is the greatest universe in all of television. Not enough to say about the BCS/BrBa Universe and this episode.

As Goodman As It Gets
Near-L2 August 2022
This episode would be a 10/10 even without the awesome cameos. Odenkirk was on fire in this episode, all the 3 timelines combined can get a bit confusing but once you figure that out it is an amazing experience. A episode with clever edits and subtle special effects just as fancy and classy as Saul's scams... i have no idea how they are gonna top that in the last two episodes because this is masterful.

Connecting the dots - Breaking Bad !
sakram3 August 2022
For those who underestimate the importance of this episode, especially those with 1 star reviews, this episode plays a key role in connecting two worlds. It is not just fan service. First of all, this review contains no spoilers. Second, Imagine where someone starts by watching Better Call Saul first, up until S06E09 "Fun & Games", then of course it would be about time they started watching Breaking Bad and then FINISHING it. After that, comes this beautiful Black & White epilogue which hints that the ending for Gene is definitely not gonna be good.

This episode pieces everything together. Remember that Better Call Saul is in no way tightly related with Breaking Bad, in other words, it works as a standalone series and not only just a prequel. So, someone who has never watched Breaking Bad, might enjoy this series even more.

The episode also showcases a beautiful work of art when it comes to dialogue, chapter succession, transitions, and Jimmy getting his final closure with the characters who were close to him the most. We realize Gene is left alone, hence the black and white, and has nothing else to do other than conning people and going back to his nature, Slippin' Jimmy.

If you think this episode is empty, then you're watching the show just for the Adrenaline kicks, which means this show isn't really for you.

Definitely a Ten out of Ten.

Two Worlds Combining
redsoxloveryankeehater2 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This couldn't have been done any better. We get reference of Kim which was so exciting and heartbreaking. Gene is still pulling scams and ripping people off.

The Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul cameos are perfect, and we're not done with them according to the final scene of Saul approaching the school. Better call Saul continues to be the best thing on television and one of the greatest shows EVER.

Can It Be Better
Hitchcoc2 August 2022
Once again great creativity in the cinematography. The two story lines getting us to Breaking Bad and Saul's influences there are portrayed impeccably. The scam he runs is incredibly clever and he works those two guys. We also see how Jimmy has dropped from a charming character to an embittered, foul man with little or no regard for others. We have two episodes to go and they will bring to an end one of televisions most amazing accomplishments.

A Tale of Two Sauls
maxglen2 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Another really good episode. A slower burn, like last week's but there is still plenty happening and being built up in preparation for the finale in a couple weeks. The episode is mostly a sequel to last week's episode with Gene continuing to 'play the game' so to speak; his plan isn't 100% clear just yet but it currently involves drugging rich guys and credit card fraud, ya know? The fun stuff. The rest of the episode plays out a few in between moments from Breaking Bad, taking place directly before or after iconic scenes from Saul's first episode in that. These scenes were great and do more than fill in gaps, they also provide a sort of parallel for Gene's final victim of the episode which I assume will continue into next week's instalment. Shot and edited beautifully as per usual, stellar soundtrack and of course the acting and writing are both some of the best you're going to get on television. The only things that slightly pulled me out were just how much Aaron Paul has aged since doing Breaking Bad and how little seems to have been done to make him look as young as he was in season two of BB and the other thing being more of a continued complaint from last week which is Jeff's recasting is still a little jarring but that's not much of a gripe seeing as the new actor is still pretty decent. Overall, a great episode that I feel will be easier judged when the story has come to fruition and it's significance is clearer. A 9/10 for now though. Thank you for reading my review and have a lovely day or night wherever you may be.

Great to see Walt and Jessie but...
Robosharp3 August 2022
It was a pretty pointless scene. Almost felt wasted. I've not got in to the last two episodes. These scam shenanigans that Saul/Gene are up to, bore me. Just feels to close to the end and they're kinda wasting value plot time in my book. So hope Saul meets up with Jessie in the present and things pick up, then this quality show along with its predecessor, can end in the truly great way it should.

Season 6 may have peaked too soon ...
ChuckCunningham3 August 2022
These last two episodes were a little underwhelming. Time wasted on Gene's shenanigans with Jeff and his friend. It was good to see Carol Burnett and Stuart from the Big Bang Theory, but c'mon. The tension and suspense is gone. What happened with Kim? What's going on with construction of the Meth Super Lab. It didn't seem like Don Eladio and the cousins were buying the Lalo death story. And it sure seemed like Howard's wife was going to do some digging into his death. The appearance of Walt and Jesse just felt like a deleted scene from BB. I kinda like Jeff's friend's dog.

Breaking Bad
lassegalsgaard2 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After the ending of last week's episode, I think that a lot of us assumed that Jimmy was going to stay in the role of Gene and continue to go about his days in Omaha, Nebraska, without any intervention from his previous life. However, after 11 seasons of television from these writers in this universe, we should be able to tell that nothing is ever as it seems, and that they'll find a way to subvert all our expectations and bring their characters to their natural evolution. Wherever the endgame lies for this show is still to be seen, but this episode did open up some routes that could be taken, while also continuing to explore what really drives our main character to do what it is he's doing. This is Thomas Schnauz's final episode as a creative on this show, and he has been behind some of the great television that we've seen from this show especially. Now, he takes us to a black-and-white set Omaha and shows us the next chapter in Gene Takovic's story and how everything ultimately leads him back to becoming the character that he had sworn he wouldn't become again after everything that happened in Albuquerque. It feels like they're slowly moving towards the end, and I know I'm going to miss this show, because it keeps upping itself, constantly becoming better and more intense as it moves along. This was another great stepping stone towards the finale of the life of Jimmy McGill, and probably won't be happy.

If anything, these last few episodes will also give us an idea of the state of play after everyone had to go into hiding. We see that many of Jimmy's old associates have moved on (some living more successful lives than others), and have to deal with the consequences of what came down on them. It's a good way to remind us that these actions we've enjoyed watching over the last many years have also brought a lot of pain to in-universe characters, putting our morals a little into play, but not taking away from the overall entertainment value.

Something is definitely going on inside Jimmy that's gotten him back into the game. He still has a lot of feelings for Kim and something is going to happen with that relationship in the last two episodes. Especially after that fateful phone call in the episode, I'm sure of that. That has been the driving force of the entire show and it would seem weird to just put it off like they did with the big scene two episodes ago. We're going to see more of it and I'm ready to see them meet again after everything that went down in-between.

I love seeing Jimmy back in action, but it adds to that incredible sadness that has hunted him throughout the season and the great writing that has added to it. Chuck said in an earlier episode that no matter what Jimmy did, he would never be able to learn from his mistakes and escape that life. I love that we're seeing that it stays true and that Jimmy is still going out scamming people. It adds to the brilliance of the character of Chuck, but also the natural writing style that has been the reason for this show's endless success.

It would be a mistake if I didn't mention the incredible flashbacks in this episode. Finally, we get to see Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul back as these incredible characters, taken right out of the original show. None of them missed a beat and to see the three of them interacting again brought me more joy than I thought it would. I don't think that this is going to be the last we see of them, but if it was, I'm just glad that we got the chance to see these great characters on the small screen one last time.

"Breaking Bad" feels like a perfect hour of television, bringing in a new storyline that excites people, but also giving us a lot of nostalgia. It's setting up a dark future for this character, and wherever the writers decide to take him next, I'm just happy to be along for the ride, even if it is unpredictable.

Amazing one that many have anticipated for good reasons
UniqueParticle2 August 2022
I don't know why anyone on IMDB reviews something they haven't seen I've never done that in my 1,658 reviews! Anyways I watched live in the last hour so worth it in every aspect. Brilliantly directed by classic Thomas Schuantz he directed a bulk of Breaking Bad episodes back in the day. Some wonderful surprises and answered questions; enthralling Saul experience!

Too good to end
michaeldlbe2 August 2022
I must say this last series of BCS is a genuine piece of art, with every episode being totally unexpected/creative. No other series nowadays has the same value in writing, directing, producing and acting as Better Call Saul. Only 2 more episodes to come. It will be a long walk in the dessert after that (no pun intended)....

Some viewers simply don't deserve shows this good
mg_legend3 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I feel like anyone giving this or even the previous episode below an 8 should stick to watching the Fast and Furious movies or any franchise of that ilk. And that's not being disrespectful to F&F, they are great for what they are. That said, how poor an attention span do some of you seriously have that someone needs to die or have their face blown off for a positive experience watching an episode?

The Walt and Jesse scenes do feel a little like deleted scenes, but they "serve their purpose" by the end, they are partially there for the nostalgia, at this point the story of the ENTIRE two shows is coming to the end? But it's not just "fan service" they really help us see why Saul-Gene is willing to take such a risk and has become so cold. But, obviously, Jesse and Walt not burying Saul in the desert and us going in to some multiverse story simply isn't good enough?!

Jimmy McGill would NEVER have scammed someone with cancer, the Jimmy/Saul we've seen until now would also NEVER ripped off a victim upon discovering he had Cancer. This one might be debatable, but I don't even think "Breaking Bad Saul Goodman" would have scammed a cancer sufferer.

But this is Gene. It's called character development. Did it feel horrible watching Gene be so determined to rip off a victim even after finding out he had cancer. Absolutely! The Jesse/Walt scenes should at this point help even the dimmest viewers out. Walt was virtually a terrorist who while not solely or even the majority factor in Jimmy being where he is at this point.... played his part. Gene blames Walt, Walt had Cancer. It's hardly peak Walter White science to put the pieces together.

Great episode clearly building up to the more dramatic ending we will be seeing.

"A guy with that mustache probably doesn't make a lot of good life choices."
itsjhoov2 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
If the worlds of "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" were going to come together, this was an exceptional way to accomplish that task. And if you had reservations about "Nippy", this episode helps put a lot of them to rest. (I think the narrative and stylistic whiplash played a role in those reactions.)

Perhaps we should have seen this coming with Gene. Last week was just the start of bringing him out of his shell. But if there's anything to say about Jimmy McGill, he is consistent. "In this world kid, there are sheep and there are wolves"...and he chose a long time ago what he would be. Francesca's bread crumb was enough to provoke hope of healing with Kim--what a painful way to see that (for now), it's not happening. And then the spiral. The same old spiral that Chuck McGill said Jimmy cannot ever escape. Once again, he was painfully correct.

He cannot help who he is--he said as much to Kim when they set up their co-practice plans. It's what got him into the game with Heisenberg (what a natural way to bring Walt and Jesse back...and in their usual manner), and it's what has Gene back in the game as he lashes out over his hurt and pain. You want to see him redeemed. But he's getting awfully close to being beyond such a point--and stepping into finite tragedy.

Walter White's personal spiral is suddenly being relived through Gene. He cannot leave the game for good--and it may be to his ultimate demise. Amazing episode of threads, useful callbacks...and painfully good character development. These last two episodes are a total wild card.

This is the moment Breaking Bad Better Call Saul
hotrobinproductions2 August 2022
Return to formation for Saul breaking the barrier he was meant to do.

It's all here folks, watching the show since it's first episode Uno up until this point has been "quiet a ride" everything that we predicted and saw happen the writers find a way to pull the rug from under us. All while having it make sense into the narrative of the story this show was out to be.

This episode was a downward spiral, a pinnacle and love letter to the franchise as we know it, from the opening scenes before the BCS theme we have something you will certainly be in a real nice treat for.

The way this episode progresses it's narrative going forward was very nice and story perfectly makes it all worth while. You have the dynamic between characters with excitement and thrills we have been waiting for.

It's all coming together
henrydavidson592 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The worlds of breaking bad and better call saul are both coming to a close here in these last few episodes. Seeing Walter and Jesse again is cool but the best part is how it ties into the storyline with Gene. It is really heartbreaking to see Jimmy hitting rock bottom after talking to kim on that pay phone- which boy was that effective to not even hear their conversation.

Jimmy is really nothing but a criminal now as we see him going to finish what he started with scamming this cancer patient- and to parallel it with him going to see out Walter for the first time was really effective.

This episode hit me hard and it feels like this world Vince Gilligan created is all coming to an end- and it looks like the only end for Jimmy will be prison, sadly.

That was just... disappointing ?
jkg232 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Nice to see some familiar places from Breaking Bad, but that was just disappointing. All we got were some filler scenes from the original show. Not even good dialogs, just nothing. That Lalo quote from Jesse was that great for you ? Damn, just stop overrating this only because it's BCS.

The plot is going nowhere. It's boring! We know everything about these characters, where their stories went. We are only curious about Gene and his plot is going nowhere ! What even is the plan behind it here ? I just don't see it.

Don't get me wrong here, this episode was decent, but that's not what I expected from the absolute ending of this show, of this whole universe. This was supposed to be a banger of a season, and it feels like they just messed it up. Some episodes were spectacular, but it was mostly just decent, nothing more than that.

Below expectations!
tamaraat-hammoudeh94 August 2022
First of all, the going through Gene Takavick character was very deep and not needed, what we needed to be focused on is Saul Goodman and how did he move on with his life after Kim goes away.

Second, the come back of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman's characters was very below the expected amount of thrilling. I really expected something more!

Like watching breaking bad deleted scenes
thefoochie2 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was another great episode that further advances the gene storyline, while also showing us a few scenes during the BB timeline from Saul's perspective.

For the gene storyline, gene and his two recruits rip off numerous guys by drugging them, breaking into their homes, and stealing their ID's, passwords, etc. One of gene's guys backs out of the scam when he learns that the guy they're ripping off has cancer. Gene fires him, and then breaks into the guy's house himself.

I can't wait to see what happens to Gene after that cliffhanger. Part of me wants him to get caught, but another part of me wants him to reunite with Kim in the finale. Speaking of Kim, it looks like gene hasn't forgotten about her, judging by how upset he was when he couldn't get any info on her location. This makes me wonder if during BB, saul was thinking about Kim the whole time. I honestly can't believe he had the motivation to keep being saul Goodman after Kim left him.

The BB timeline scenes were fun, but we didn't learn much. It was great to see Walt and Jesse again, their banter was hilarious as always. It was also interesting seeing how Saul is still traumatized by Lalo. Even though I enjoyed these scenes, I hope the BB timeline scenes in the finale are more important and give us more interesting information.

This is the weakest episode of 6B so far, but it doesn't really matter. It would be hard to top the intensity of point and shoot, the emotion of fun and games, and the cleverness of nippy. I'll give this one an 8/10. Can't wait for "waterworks!"

The Cameo helps a Parallel
frankiemerc4 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
If you didn't figure out the parallels let me give you the jist. Saul gets into business with Walter and Jesse. After getting 80k from the two meth dealers that would have been the end of it. He chooses not to listen to his partner Mike who warns him not to mess with Walter (who happens to be a cancer patient).

In the Gene timeline. Jeff and Gene are making good money. However Gene decides to be greedy and go after a cancer patient. His partner is against this and warns him that the drugs they used might have worn off. However Gene doesn't listen and goes for more money.

The end of the episode is Gene and Saul both walking towards the separate Cancer patients for more money, which will end up being the beginning of there demise.
